4. Why Arabs want to bring Israel to NPT...
William ,   Israel   (10.01.12)
when Israel didn't join before nor broke any obligations inherent thereof, and never threatened anyone with use of said nukes it supposedly has? And yet Arabs are very protective of Pakistan nukes, who also is not a member of the NPT, nor are calls made to force it to join.
5. Al-Moallem,hypocrite
Moshe of Rockville ,   Rockville,MD USA   (10.01.12)
Al-Moallem seems to engage in hypocrisy ,when he calls upon the international community to 'free the Middle East of WMDS.' it is well known that Syria has stockpiled large quantities of chemical and biological weapons.Indeed, the nuclear production facility destroyed by Israel in Syria would have been capable of the production of nuclear weaponry.Setting aside this issue of Syrian WMDs, the actual use of Israeli nuclear weapons have been dealt with very cautiously and with great restraint. An example of this is shown by the absence of nuclear based retaliation during the 1973 Yom Kippur War by Israel, which was suddenly attacked by both Egypt and Syria, resulting, initially, in serious losses. The Jewish State held back using their nuclear weapons for which they had sufficient justification for employment.Furthermore, the existential threats repeatedly issued by the leadership of Iran would lead one to believe that no responsible nation would expose itself by destroying its most powerful weapons: nuclear launched air,sea and land nuclear devices.

Don't you have enough on your plate?
10. By what right exactly is the Golan Syrian?
Tahl   (10.01.12)
While the Sykes-Picot agreement determined the borders between the British and French controlled areas in the Middle East, including the Golan, the was never any international agreement or law recognizing the Golan as actual Syrian property. Historically, Syria has had very little connection to this region, as it was very sparsely populated, and mostly by Druze, Bedouins, and other migratory Arab peasants. During its (mere) 19 years of independent control of the Golan, Syria's only real usage of this region was utilizing its strategic topography for shooting down at Israeli villages in the Hula valley. Israel won this territory in a defensive war in 1967, as Syria was aiming to destroy Israel. Therefore, Israel has every right to keep it. Furthermore, unlike Judea and Samaria (won from Jordan in the same war) - there are no Syrians living today in the Golan, and thus Israel does not control another people in this case. In sharp contrast to Syria's deadly intentions for the Golan, Israel has utilized it for far better purposes. Fine wineries, excellent apple plantations, cattle ranches, beautiful parks for hiking, a ski resort, electric windmills and more. Finally, there is the huge Syrian hypocrisy. Nearly a century ago, Turkey forcefully usurped from Syria, a region called Iskenderoon, which is few times bigger than the Golan, having far greater strategic and economic importance. Needless to say, for all these years the Syrians have stayed mum on this issue and never once dared to take this land back from Turkey. The day Israel will give the Golan to Syria, will be a day after Turkey gives them back Iskenderoon.
11. NO NO, from Golan they (Syrians) would be SHOOTING down here
hot snow ,   tlv   (10.01.12)
He can keep on dreaming.
12. Reality is a bitch
mb   (10.01.12)
Unbelievable. His country is engaged in a bloody civil war, civilians massacred every which way, and yet he still points a finger at the Jews.
13. Check The Facts.....
Robert Blum ,   New Albany, USA   (10.01.12)
My understanding is, the former dictator, Assad of Syria, concluded an agreement with Israel, out of which Assad gained $300,000,000 for the Golan Heights, which Syria unrightfully claims as its own. HOWEVER, even if this were not true, Syria was the aggressor. Israel captured the land. It is Israeli land.
14. syria
michael ,   Seattle, USA   (10.01.12)
Stop killing your own citizens, and then maybe you can tell other countries what to do. And one more thing, you are never getting the Golan.
15. Golan Heights
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (10.01.12)
The Golan Heights was wrested from Syria during the Zionist war of aggression in June 1967. Syria has every right to have those heights returned to it, peacefully if possible, but by war if that, alas, should prove necessary. In any case Syria will get Golan back. Only a matter of time.
16. This sleazy criminal is either stupid or
Israel Forever   (10.01.12)
delusional. The whole of Syria is burning from its roots and the same Moalem and his butcher boss are on a constant killing spree of their own people and now they claim the Golan Heights. To start with, it's not even theirs ! They lost the Golan Heights in the Six Day war against Israel which they started but never ended. Rather, they were ended or could have been totally ended had it not been for the great powers who interfered. So, Asad, you will get back the Golan Heights when pigs are flying ! N E V E R !!
17. The Golan has already been restored by
(10.01.12)
Israel. No need for criminal Syrian gang government to do it. Rest assured Moalem, you will never get this chance.
18. #10 the problem
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (10.01.12)
Neither Syria nor international law is the problem. The problem is Ehud Barak. During his thankfully brief stint as PM, Barak made every effort to surrender the Golan to Assad. I guess the problem is also Netanyahu who insists on keeping Barak as DM.
19. Does he think we're all idiots?
Jacob Erickson ,   Holon, Israel   (10.01.12)
He says he's committed to getting back the Golan Heights and at the same time wants Israel to give up WMDs. He seriously thinks we would give up our war deterrant with Syria right next door?
20. # 19,,,So it's fine for Israel to have the bomb, but not
Edithann ,   USA   (10.01.12)
anyone else...That's the reasoning that has got you imploding...You insisted that all Jews were Zionists...and now you will be paying for it big time...There is no one out there to help you...not even the USA.... TATA

24. The chutzpah!
Allan   (10.02.12)
25. #20
Daniel J. ,   n   (10.02.12)
Israel has never threatened to wipe out another country, has a democratic government not an unstable monarchy. Yes, it's alright for Israel to have nuclear defensive means but unfortunately the neighbors are too unstable to have these weapons. Israel won't disarm and be at the mercy of those that want it destroy it. An another thing, when it comes to defending herself, Israel does it without asking anyone to defend her. Israel isn't imploding, only the kool aid you drink it's causing you and other antisemites implode. TaTa
26. Everyone wants a piece of Israel

DT ,   TA Israel   (10.02.12)
29. never again.
nibor ,   israel   (10.02.12)
Thank God the Golan Heights is not in Syria's hands. This area was partitioned after the Ottoman Turks left the region. There is nothing natural about it belonging to Syria at all.
30. of course mr walid...
les ,   canada   (10.02.12)
you are right! the most important problem to you, and your government are the "palestinian" people and to "restore" the golan. who cares for the over thirty thousand plus mostly innocent men, women and children your regime murdered, and keep on murdering today.....but it was a nice try though :))
