31. # 28 Left Coast: this blockade is as "legal" as deadly
Albrecht   (10.06.12)
.. and inhumane as the iron curtain. Surely a reason to be "proud".
32. #29 but it is not legal to arrange such a massacre.
Albrecht   (10.06.12)
If the Turks would intend to kill the soldiers they would kill them. They disarmed and captured some of them. To tell the storys about "selfdefence" is as stupid as the soviet propaganda.

David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.06.12)
If the Turks in Mavi Marmara dd not intend to kill why did they cut the steel railing from the ship earlier before Israeli raid? I don't believe they were intending to make shish kebab. They threw one soldier into the sea. Their intentions were not good. Unlike the passengers on the other boats their intentions were bad.

Alex   (10.06.12)
You seem to have fallen for this "soviet propaganda"... You say throwing the soldiers two decks down the boat is "disarming"? That soldier almost broke his back, that is a criminal act and will be responded with fire from the IDF.
35. Great $5m settles it; calms Turkey down
Tarbouche ,   Aswan   (10.06.12)
In the inevitable regional showdown, neutral Turkey is better than a hostile one. Emotionally blind talkbackers as normal speak out of their nether orifice
36. NO WONDER....
les ,   canada   (10.06.12)
those deranged "peace activists" acted the way they did. coming from families, of whom wanting to sue the VICTIMS, not the perpetrators for the crime of invading an independent country. what screw balls :))
37. # 33, 34, You belive what you want to belive.
Albrecht   (10.06.12)
Okay, the "terrorists" wanted to kill the soldiers. They disarmed them, they have beaten them. They even toke care of their wounds! But despite of it all, all the time they did not succeed to kill them. Why? Because... the Israeli soldiers are immortal. No chance to kill them using a kitchen knife! You people belive what you want to belive and not the real facts.
38. # 33, 34 a simple question.
Albrecht   (10.06.12)
Okay, the "terrorists" WANTED to kill the soldiers. Could you please explain a simple question: The Turks disarmed and hold the israeli soldiers CAPTIVE. They even managed to take care of their wounds! If they WANTED to kill the soldiers WHY did they not kill them all the time and instead of it toke care of their wounds? How was it possible? Not enough time to stab the knife in the soldier due to taking care of the wounds? You people want others to belive childrens storys.
39. I see some zionists freaking out
Ahmet, Turkey ,   Istanbul   (10.06.12)
We are making you pay already, you will pay for this massacre in the rest of your lives. Last 20 years of Israel, enjoy it before you lose it.

Alex   (10.06.12)
Are you so stupid to think we're saying every single one of the passengers on the boat was extremists? I'm sure there were many people who didn't get involved in the conflict with the soldiers, but a large part of the activists were extremists (before the dispacth of the ship several of the activist were seen chanting "Khaybar al yahood" typical chant encouraging to the killing of Jews.). Several of the extremists were armed with steel pipes and knifes, attacking the soldiers and throwing one several decks down. But you gonna claim Jews are evil monsters and fanatic murderes are lambs as usual... You'll never get a grasp of reality.
41. #39 Ahmet how dare you defend yourselves against Syria?
Alex   (10.06.12)
How dare you fire a single shell into the peaceful Syria? The peaceful Syrian attacks against Turkey where just peaceful messages of democracy! That's basically the level of logics you use...
42. #39, its YOU who is paying.
Israel   (10.06.12)
No one goes to Turkey anymore. And, your leader has made a fool of you, screaming like a girl for Israel to apologize. Everyone forgets, so conveniently, that there is real footage of "peace" activists bashing a soldier with a tire iron. PEACE activist???? You violated a sovereign country's right to defend its borders! And you cry like a little girl over it!
43. I think Ahmet is one of those crying girls
Ben ,   Israel/uk   (10.06.12)
can just see him stamping his little foot and scraming " no no Zionists..boo hoo! Ahmed go get your nails done or buy a new hat, will calm you down. Maybe you invite Albrecht to join you. Laughs on your Turkeys, as the winners will be the lawyers..ahhhhh!
44. Albrecht same goes to you
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.06.12)
You believe what you want to believe. But just one thing: I was born and raised in Turkey, lived there between 1950 and 1980. I know something about Turkish culture both the educated class and the rest, ultra religious uneducated fatalist ones who were on the Mavi Marmara.
45. Ahmet #39
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.06.12)
I don't see many happy people in the streets of Istanbul. I see a lot of trouble there. Many people jailed in Silivri with no apparent charges, PM Erdogan and president Gul also not agreeing with each other. There is no day that goes by in Turkey without PKK attack killing soldiers. On the other hand I don't see any Israelis freaking out.
46. I LOVE this video!

It says it all! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOGG_osOoVg
47. #40 Alex: still no answer on my question
Albrecht   (10.07.12)
Still no answer, why the "extremists" and "terrorists" did not kill the soldiers despite the fact that they disarmed their and even managed to dress their wounds. "Several of the extremists were armed with steel pipes and knifes, attacking the soldiers and throwing one several decks down." Most normal people try to defence himself using everything they have if attacked in the middle of the night by masked and armed guys. Regarding "steel pipes" and kitchen "knifes". Most soccer games in Europe would end in similar masacres if the police would react on the hooligans as unprofessional and brutal like the Israeli soldiers.

It was a clear case of piracy, which ought to compensated and the perpetrators punished. Apart from this: it was an attack on a Nato member state (although Brussels obviously failed in the follow-up).
49. # 46 Keren So do I!!!
big bad Jew ,   United States   (10.08.12)
Great piece, thank you so much.
