1. No doubts left that Hezballa is an Iranian proxy
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (10.14.12)
and Iran is equally responsible and should be treated accordingly. The loss of the US drone to Iran was inexcusable
2. Three new locations for Israeli-US military drill..
Ivan ,   South Africa   (10.14.12)
Option 1 use Gaza Option 2 use southen Lebanon Option 3 Iran
3. This drone really seems to have made your day...
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (10.14.12)
Good question though: How can you defend your self from thousands of missiles when you can't even detect one single drone...LOL
4. drone
Alexandre Chinovich   (10.14.12)
I agree 100% with the unnamed military source. Who will survive except that Minister with his Dawn-sickness smile? By the start of Gorbachov's era, a German pilot Matias Rust landed his plane on the Red Square in Moscow. Several months later the Soviet Union stopped to exist.
5. stealth drone flying low
killfaggots ,   la usa   (10.14.12)
It should not have shot down. It should be stealth'ed, using tri-axis accelerometer, ADF radio stations, crossreferenced to GPS, and they should be mapping the mideast with drone info, spies with electronics, and satelites so west cannot bug their terrain maps.

Philip ,   Afula. Israel   (10.14.12)
Some people never change .Just keep smiling you "certain smile" and history will again wipe it off your face.
7. Iranian and Hizbolla tactics
Ilan   (10.14.12)
Israel tracked the drone before it entered Israeli airspace. Presumably they could jam the radio signals it sent out, but since the IDF isn't talking the field is left open for Hizbolla to act as if they actually did something.
8. Where is the beef?
Gil ,   LA, USA   (10.14.12)
if they managed to photohraph all these "secret sites" and beam anything back, they would have been showing off the "trophies". After all, the entire stunt is for propogada. 3 hours in the air means 2 and a half hours flight over the mediterranean before entering from Gaza and getting shot down over Yatir forest... google map it...draw a line... there isn't much between Gaza and Yatir to spy on... Pictures or GTFO!
9. defense
Chuck ,   LA, USA   (10.14.12)
The best defense is always a better offense.

Moshe of Rockville ,   Rockville,MD USA   (10.14.12)
The answer to your question is easy:you nuke the enemy.
11. #3 It's the retaliatuon, stupid
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (10.14.12)
that's going to be the end of them, and they know that, but being the suicidal lunatics they are....
12. Interesting that people are
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (10.14.12)
accepting unquestioningly the 'official line' as stated by the Israeli Defence Force. If the Sunday Times is reporting that the drone has flown about Israel beaming back information so that Hezbollah can better target israel's nuclear arsenal Then I accept that, afterall it was The Sunday Time who announced to the world that Israel is a nuclear power with missiles aimed at many capital cities in the western hemisphere, including Washington, London, Paris and Rome.
13. #4 Stupid Analogy
Nice Bloke ,   Rochdale, UK   (10.14.12)
The Soviet Union was an empire, not a country. that was bankrupt, undemocratic and ideologically unsound.
14. When there is lots of noise from one direction, don't forget
me ,   here   (10.14.12)
to watch the other directions too! = The obvious lesson from this. What is the preparedness for sneak up submarine maneuvers in the Read Sea, for example? - I personally get very nervous when there is too much silence!!!
15. Secret?
(10.14.12)
Could not have been that secret if the drone knew where to take pictures. Short of it having X-ray capabilities I would not be overly concerned. Let the world think what they want, they do so anyways, and always will do so. The Iranians may be in for long ride.
16. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.14.12)
A nuclear device would work. We have lots and lots of those. LOL.
17. Reliable sources?
Sidney ,   USA   (10.14.12)
From the Sunday Times, these are the sources of the story: Middle East sources said  an Israeli defence source Another Israeli source Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah But an Israeli military observer asked If Israeli security people talk so much, where is the security?
18. The one thing the Iranians and Hizbollah
Israeli Eagle   (10.14.12)
excel in, and that we have yet to master is propaganda. So the drone breached our air space, took some pictures (how sensitive, is yet to be determined), and was blown out of the sky. It's a long way from taking pictures to actually targeting and hitting a specific site. Bottom line, the only way for the Iranians and their proxies to demonstrate their advancement, no matter the failure, is by spinning events to look like great success. As, the soon to be former, president Obama once said, it's a teachable moment.
19. Interesting.
John ,   Israel   (10.14.12)
Interesting that people are willing to accept the word of some obscure field reporter and his unnamed source without so much as one bit of corroborating information. If you believe that Israel has all that nuclear capability, especially missles aimed at captial cities, then you probably believe that Tzipi Livni has the Israeli best interests in mind. So if I understood you correctly, your position is that, if the Sunday Times said it then it must be true? What a fool!
20. Its been a "drone crazy" week but
Arlene ,   Israel   (10.14.12)
obviously they also have capabilities....never underestimate the enemy. They are not as much in the dark ages as we like to joke about. If we can get satilite pics of Irans nuclear plants and also Hizzbolocks training grounds etc.,, then of course they can do the same. Just means moving about a bit, if possible or letting them see exactly what we have. I am sure they have more drones and whatever went wrong (if it did) is now rectified for downing them once in Israeli airspace.
21. This is hilarious
James ,   Tel Aviv   (10.14.12)
Anybody who wants to see pictures of Dimona or any other air base in Israel just needs to go to Google Earth.. You have everything there... in the open. So this story about taking pictures and stuff is just " Malarkey"
22. Drone Success
Steve ,   Dallas USA   (10.14.12)
If the drone was successful, they did Israel a favor. Israel can upgrade its radar. If the drone was unsuccessful (and Israel either interfered with its signal while trying to get operational control, or while studying it ), then we will never know. Either way, there is no way the reporter could "know" these things as reported.
23. #16 Sarah B
Marco ,   Spain   (10.14.12)
And who told you that the next Hezbollah drone would not be carrying a nuke bought on the black market when the Soviet Union disintegrated? Remember that Nasrallah likes to surprise you...
24. #10 Moshe
(10.14.12)
What if the enemy can nuke back? Who has the strategic depth to survive? I assure you, it is not Israel...
25. #23 - yes, Nasrallah surprised Israel in 2006
William ,   Israel   (10.15.12)
and we surprised him (and the rest of the Middle East) right back. Since then, he's been pretty quiet. Think he might want to "surprise" Israel again? Not likely with Bibi in the office.
26. If drone didn't violate UNR1701...
William ,   Israel   (10.15.12)
then neither does Israeli fly-overs. Not that it matters at all. Hizbullah, a signatory to the humiliating cease-fire through UNR1701 (thanks to Signora's public crying and Nasrallah's public apologies) was rejected before the ink dried by Hizbullah anyway.
27. Notice they keep coming up with sensitive sites they photo'd
William ,   Israel   (10.15.12)
but they admitted the first day that the drone was on a pre-programmed flight path, which means they didn't have remote control of the craft. So either that means the Iranians had exact coordinates of Dimona, US-Israel troops, etc. or this is just hubris. As the Iranians gather more information, they'll continue to claim they got pictures of it - like an Israeli politician who happened to be driving in Ashdod during the flight. If one cannot control the craft from afar, then one cannot gather photos remotely either. The drone was not that advanced (by their own admission) which means this exercise was more of a drastic act at posturing against an Israeli attack which they believe is imminent.
