I wouldn't worry if I were you. Indications are that the Russians have achieved assurances about Syrian wmd's and the Americans have confirmed that the chemical and biological weapons have been moved to a centralised location. Personally I am more worried that anti aircraft missiles are in the hands of the rebeliions. Yhese mobile anti aircraf systems if located near Damascus have the capability of shooting down aircraft approaching Ben Gurion. Obviously Netanyahu wouldn't want to address this threat to the Israeli people. Which is more existential in my view than the possibility that Iran will gain nuclear parity.

The IDF will choose to perform whatever needs to when the time is right. The problem is not Bibi it's Baraks decision and either way, from how little we know as citizens from an intelligence point of view, we can only suspect the high ranks of the defence establishment know what they are doing.

Assad has shown that he has completely lost the plot and it is very possible he might consider using chemical weapons against Israel if his back is to the wall and he thinks its all over but chemical weapon use against Israel might turn him into a hero. He may decide when he knows its over to take Israel down with him so even if he lost the war he will still be remembered as the arab ruler who caused mass Israeli casualties. We must not rely on Obama or Erdogan who seems to be itching for a fight that Turkey can come out of as the conquering hero. When it comes to chemical weapons even if they are willing we must not leave the job to somebody else and just hope they get it right, Turkey won't be the enemy of some post Assad regime but Israel will.
