The writer hereby seems to be launching a crusade on behalf of foreigners without bothering to think of the heavy and negative burdens those foreigners would bring to the society and economy . People in Tel Aviv are already demonstrating for social justice . Unemployment and inflation regularly batter the economy . Recent report by the Central Bureau of Statistics predicts a higher level of poverty this year ( 31% of people under poverty line ) . A remarkably-higher level of crime is already plaguing big cities especially Tel Aviv ( theft , murder , rape , etc...) . Native arabs of East Jerusalem ( Arabs born here for generations already ) are still struggling to get more political and social rights ( jobs , voting rights, ...) . And security issues have for the past six decades kept Israel on high alert ( gone are the days of Egypt's Nasser... Now you have HAMAS, Hizbullah, Syria and Iran which have unprecedentedly struck the very depth of Israel )... And the recent volatile socio-political situation in neighboring arab countries ( Arab Springs ) has made our region less secure and stable )... ! Let the writer consider all these facts before shedding any sympathy to outsiders and foreigners. But I give one high mark to him for voicing his opposition to any comeback of any politician who breached the people's trust by trying to enrich himself off our backs... !

All Sarna has to do is listen to the radio to hear condescending talk of how Deri will return Shas to its warm and fuzzy "Bet Abba" social issues instead of the right-wing Ishai and the evil Ashkenazim. The punishment that the court gave him Deri served. The state did not forbid him to re-enter politics as part of his crime and punishment. Why all of a sudden comes a cry from the self-righteous to ban him from politics after the court of law allowed him to return? It is just jealousy and hate mixed with fear that he will bring more votes to the 'hated' Shas party. Well hidden agendas are 'treif' in politics as well as miss informed opinion articles too.

But I dont agree that Yishai is a racist. He wants to protect Israel as a Jewishf state. If we are not careful we will wake up sooner that you think and be a minority in our own country. Just because he wants to deport non-Jewish foriegners doesnt make him a racist. Like I always say, Im not against gentiles, Im just for Jews. However, I agree that Deri, as a convicted felon, should never be allowed to serve in public office. I had doubts as to his guilt and the fairness of his trial, but he is a convicted felon nontheless. If he is innocent he should appeal. In my former State of Maryland, we had a governor in the early 70s, Marvin Mandel, who was convicted of some kind of money crimes regarding the horse races. I dont really understand it all as I was a kid at the time. He was convicted and served time in jail. He lost his law license and his pension. After more than 20 years, on appeal he was found not guilty. Unfortunately, Mandel had no choice but to work into his old age because of his lack of pension. If Deri is innocent he should never give up his pursuit of justice, but we can't have convicts in the Knesset and that goes ditto for Olmert.
