1. I have been posting thi here 3 for 3 years
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.22.12)
I have been writing posts about this at YNET for three years. Why did it take CPJ 3 years to realize this? It is not only Journalists. A Harvard decorated medical doctor Mehmet Haberal he organ transplant pioneer in Turkey also is in jail for the same reasons. Another medical pediatrics doctor Turkan Saylan was fighting Cancer when she was sent to jail only allowed to get out 2 weeks before she passed away. Journalists and opposition politicians are constantly under surveillance, their private phone conversations tapped, even secretly video taped in the privacy of their own home. The AKP government and PM Erdogan himself are behind these fascistic actions. And the world is not only silent but even in the USA our administration continue to support Erdogan and AKP thinking that he is the useful idiot,
2. Who put the dog in ErDOGan?
Motti ,   Israel   (10.22.12)
3. Are these really republics ?
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (10.22.12)
Turkey, Iran and Syria simply misuses this word. If there would have been a real world political organisation, instead of UNO this should be banned. Much better to call them " empires " as they once were caliphates, sultanats etc indeed.
4. I wonder why Anton suddenly went silent!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (10.22.12)
5. Turkishness, defined
Guy ,   KC, USA   (10.22.12)
In Turkish jurisprudence, the crime of "insulting Turkishness" appears to apply only to scrutiny of the Turkish government's extrajudicial killings. When judged based on the word's application in criminal proceedings, the Republic of Turkey appears to euphemistically define "Turkishness" as the ability to commit murder with impunity. Could anyone help to clarify whether this is the wrong conclusion to draw?
6. GOOD! this condemnation is long overdue!
Rafi ,   US   (10.22.12)
Not only is Erdogan is real red-meat demagogue, frequently playing to exaggerated Muslim and Turkish-nationalist themes.... he is also a brutal thug. Consider the decent & brave Turkish and Kurdish journallists rotting in jail ONLY because they fell afoul of Erdogan's vast ego.
7. Apologize now, hahaha
Jane ,   TLV   (10.22.12)
erdogan is always busy asking people to say sorry lol that country soon will be overrun with radical islam, the youth there are not stupid or weak, they will take this erdogan and kick him out
8. Typical way of concealing their behavior
Carl ,   USA   (10.22.12)
Most Arab countries do the same. Kind of the monkey's "hear no evil, see no evil" approach. Sadly the world chooses to believe that lack of information equates to lack of oppression in those countries. Conversely, the full freedom of press in Israel (granted even to Arabs) with the resultant glut of reporting gives the false impression that Israel is more "belligerant" than these truly despotic nations. Same for Russia's ban on reporting in Chechnya, or China's reporting on anything to do with human rights.
9. Turks are not the indigenous people of Anatolia..
Steven Gilbert ,   Teaneck   (10.22.12)
They are decendents of the Seljuks, who invaded and comitted genocie against the Indo European Christians, mainly of Greek, Assyrian, and Armenian origin. As such, they are illegal occupiers of Anatolia (and of course, Cyprus).
10. Maurice
anton ,   istanbul   (10.22.12)
The reason i am silent is first due to fact that my commnets is not allowed here secondly i lost my interest as i know everything about jews thre is lastly i am busy as hell :) as for article its true and thats a problem
11. Not clear?
Anton #10 ,   Maurice   (10.22.12)
What do you mean by "my comments is not allowed here?". Ynet publishes most comments no matter how anti-Israel they are. I have even seen some hateful stuff published here. This is not Turkey. In Israel there IS free speech and free Press! But I respect you for recognizing the truth in this report. Finally, I wish you success in whatever you are busy with. Hopefully, you make a lot of money!
12. Has anyone else noticed
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (10.23.12)
that the nations of the arab spring, and now the fighting overflowing intoTurkey due to the Syrian refugees, that they all are not only Israel's enemies but, it would seem are now being led into war by the old 'cursing of them that curse Israel', or, is it only me?
13. # 9 well, the good news is
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (10.23.12)
the Turks now have their hands full with the Syrians, the refugees, the cost, ah, the glamour of the arab spring. They might soon go bankrupt like Europe, maybe the Germans can 'bail them out "?
14. # 10 These 'commnents' of yours are posted here.
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (10.23.12)
And, 'you know everything about Jews thre is?' ( your spelling, not mine ) LOL, not quite everything. Those 'madras' educations are laughable when it comes to facts about "Jews." They specialize in trying to eliminate them not, imitate them. But, we're still here, in force.
15. 14
anton ,   istanbul   (10.23.12)
well not so mr big jew :) i replied to maurice yet its not published again not that i care just stating the fact congrats to you for your good spelling :) i have no desire or intent to destroy jews, in fact i recognize their contribution to world, İ'd say you are preaching the wrong audience here my personal opinion is force can not guarentee anything, balance of force changes and then what? israel can only survive via dialogue but you'r unlucky thre cause arabs are not the kind that like talking anyway good luck
16. Erdogan Fanatic policy.
Jozef ,   Wroclaw, Poland   (10.23.12)
Jail jurnalists and silence their voice.
17. Only one possible explanation
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (10.23.12)
Only one possible explanation. Erdogan is a front for the Mossad who are trying to embarrass Turkey in response to the Mavi Marmara episode. Ivrit speaking sharks have been spotted in Turkish waters and Ivrit chirping birds have flocked near Turkish govt offices.
18. Do they shoot and kill journalists too ? ,...
split ,   US   (10.24.12)
Iran doesn't as far as I know at least not in a premeditated way (like some other countries) to scare others ,...
19. We have a freedom to say whatever we wish and get away with
split ,   US   (10.24.12)
... 'till Foxman's goons find it not kosher - Ask Helen Thomas ;) ,... BTW. It's a OK to spit on Christians or Muslims ,...
