1. What right does israel have to tell any country where they
Jimmy Carter   (10.23.12)
may or may not visit. Typical of israel to think it is the world's master.
2. What peace is there to destroy???
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, sweden   (10.23.12)
Has there ever been peace between Israel and the Palestinians?? During my 45 year long life, I can only recall conflict; conflict that has been either high-intensive or low-intensive. In any case, it's hardly a surprise that Arab dictators want to keep the Israeli-Palestinian conflict intact. That's the only way to legitimate their own rule.

Hey Carter, the right of opinion is part of democratic values. Maybe you have a probleme with accepting that fact.
5. $400,000 for what?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (10.23.12)
what can a country do with $400,000 donation? How much goes into salaries and corrupt deals? Will anything trickle down to the poor slob Arab on the street? Probably nothing but the candy wrappers!
6. There is absolutely
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (10.23.12)
no way that Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani would have visited Gaza without the permission of the American Government, and no way the American government would have given the OK without the assent of Israel. Me thinks the Israeli Foreign Ministry protests a little to much. The fact is the intention is to replace Iranian money with Qatari money in an attempt to reduce the influence of the Iranian government on the government of Gaza.
7. Sarah is Right
Eli ,   us   (10.23.12)
and the rest of you are idiots. Could it be any more obvious?
8. Nothing new under the sun
Gregg ,   Haifa IL   (10.23.12)
Israel complaining (again) about Qataris siding with violent extremists while Israel sides with violent extremists settlers in the West Bank ! What a joke!!!
9. Notice the background in all the pictures
Mike ,   Israel   (10.23.12)
Gaza is not suffering from any shortages. If the situation on ground is anything close to claims than these pictures should reflect images similar to Rwanda.
10. ARABS DON' T WANT PEACE ! THEY WANT TO DESTROY US!

11. how pathetic!
Mira ,   Vienna   (10.23.12)
"Haniyeh added that the visit proved that Gaza was not alone. "The Emir of Qatar said that Palestine was in the hearts of millions of free people everywhere, and the emir, thanks to his support, is now in the hearts of millions of Palestinians," Haniyeh stated" LOL!! BBC reported that they had to cancel the big event in teh football arena because only 20% full! I am not sure Qatar is like that much in the ME, biggest warmonger in the region!
12. carter's little-nonsense pills
ik ,   USA   (10.23.12)
Carter proves he is a senile old fool and arab spokesbabbler whenever he opens his mouth. Time is now to close all qatar gifts from the free world-including the schools set up by American universities such as Harvard, etc.
13. wrong amount
Avi ,   The Hague   (10.23.12)
It's not 400,000 but 400 million
14. $400 MILLION, not $400,000
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (10.23.12)
Hamas isn't the only violent group getting support from Qatar. So too are the jihadist groups operating in Syria. (Saudi Arabia is also funding them.)
15. #5 Larry A few 0s missing
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (10.23.12)
The reports that I hear speak of this tyrant pledging to Gaza $400MILLION. $400,000 creamed off that, and I have no doubt that and more will be,should just about buy new suits for Haniyeh and his cronies and new outfits in Paris for their wives. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
16. Cranial capacity
Taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (10.23.12)
Many people say that they have half a mind to vote Likud - well it seems you do not need any brain at all to vote Israel Beyteinu - the bouncer's party. There is a fight in the Moslem world between Shia Iran and Sunni oil sheiks - Qatar is manoevering to get Hammas outof Iran's shrinking pocket. Is our idiotic foreign minister to dumb to see the bigger picture?
17. It's not your business to whom he wants to talk to or not.
split ,   US   (10.23.12)
Israel behaves like an unpopular spoiled little bitch that can't get a date ,...
18. Gaza
Cheryl ,   Chicago, IL   (10.23.12)
How much of that money is going towards terrorism?
19. Ian 3-cheers
Lio ,   London UK   (10.23.12)
The Qataris are not as stupid as you think. They're not handing Haniyeh cash - they will buy the materials, they will employ the builders, and when the projects are completed, they will hand them over to the Gazans. So to put your mind at rest, the cronies and their Mrs's won't be tripping to Paris.
20. Israel actually wants this to happen...
Jake ,   USA   (10.23.12)
The separation of Gaza from the West Bank is crucial to Israel's long term plan of annexing the West Bank. Bravo Qatar! Long live the great State of Israel!
21. four hundred thousand dollars?
Lajaro   (10.23.12)
ha ha that's a really sick joke, the word peanuts doesn't even cover this.
22. If Qatar is able to turn Gaza into a normal kingdom
Yossef   (10.23.12)
or republic, Qatar has my vote.
23. Emir's visit
Hmm.   (10.23.12)
Palestinians are wedged between a rock and a hard place. Al Thani's visit makes that clear. The PA is a flat liner and Hamas can't govern. That all adds up to more shells in the Negev, I suppose.
24. $$$$$$
yaakov ,   miami,jerusalem   (10.24.12)
hamas is honest about their existential hate and genocidal dreams. this is good for Israel and shows there is no peace partner; it weakens the cunning plodious and the invented people it claims to represent.... they are a recognized terror group; the stronger hamass the more the justice of Zionism is justified.
25. 14,as long as Qatar and Sudi Arabia
(10.24.12)
keep the violence going in other countries it won't start in theirs and won't destroy their own countries. But this is their gravest mistake for when it does arrive to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, it will engulf them and destroy every little bit of them. It's only a matter of time for these rotten countries to totally decay and perish.
26. Read the article again !
Lenya ,   Australia   (10.24.12)
Me thinks you are not the genuine Sarah B. The article reads "The Qatari emir arrived at the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing after his plane landed in the al-Arish airport in northern Sinai." Does Israel have a say who goes into Gaza through Egypt? No, So Me thinks its you who is complaining a bit too much not the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
27. #26 Lenya
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (10.25.12)
I don't think you understand the concept of being an American ally. The Qatari government would have had a meeting and decided it would like to help Gaza, they would have run this idea past the Americans, the Americans would have spoken to the Israelis. Everyone would have agreed that it is more beneficial for the Gazan economy to be reliant on the Qatari money rather than Iranian money. The fact that he walked through the Rafah crossing has nothing to do with it. Other than there is Egyptian government assent for Qatari money instead of Iranian money, possibly tied to their reliance on American money, who would have given permission to the Egyptian to allow him through. Make no mistake, if the Israelis had said no, we prefer HAMAS to be reliant on Iranian money the Emir's trip would not have happened.
