1. Maybe They All Have Dementia...
leo ,   nyc   (11.13.12)
Can all these real/unreal scenarios dreamed up by these loons be real? Wouldn;t it be better to spend time trying to help the poor and disabled, religious and secular??? Just asking...
2. If others have keys...
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (11.13.12)
One way to avoid yichud is for others to have keys which allow them easy access, so one is not 'locked in' with a person of the opposite sex.
3. Mountains of Halacha hanging by threads going nowhere..
R ,   Jerusalem   (11.13.12)
no wonder the majority of Jews reject Orthodox Judaism. The man-made mountain of rules have been a barrier for most Jews to experience their Hashem-given spirituality. Read Tanach for yourselves without the claim 'we'll interpret it for you'!
4. Can't wait to hear comments from Rabbi haters & Torah haters
Dov ,   Israel   (11.13.12)
5. Automatic locks?
Maspik...Enough   (11.13.12)
Here we go again... Two deranged so-called rabbis have found a brand new topic to latch onto so they can issue prohibitions, new rules and regs. and umpteen lesser "issurim. How many shekels will it now cost to have a self-locking door declared kosher? Will there be a board of "door" mashgich'im? How much will it cost to get an exemption for a door to a toilet in a sex-segregated school? Don't these cretinous rabbinical authorities have better things to do besides tormenting people?

8. If it locks from the outside how does it lock people inside
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (11.13.12)
If the lock prevents people outside from coming in then how does it cause the"seclusion of a man and a woman who are not married to each other in a private area?" They should be in a public hall or outside.
9. So glad they have nothing more important to worry about.
Susie ,   Nitzan, Israel   (11.13.12)
How about praying for the welfare of their fellow citizens in the South instead of worrying about this extreme form of modesty. Then they wonder why there are women who feel they must be completely covered (from head to toe) .
10. #3 Although there's man-made laws in Israel secular laws
Dov ,   Israel   (11.13.12)
there's no man-made laws in halachah. It's all stated in the Torah and Talmud. Orthodox Rabbis just dig it up for those who don't know it and those who don't know how and where to find it. If you have problems with Torah laws, take it up with G-d. For your information, this Rabbi is an accomplished Torah scholar.
11. What A Bunch Of Kooks
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.13.12)
These rule making fanatics have turned your 'legal system' into the laughing stock of the world. They make the extreme mullahs look absolutely rational.
12. #4: So I guess anyone who presents an

opposing point of view is a "rabbi hater and/or Torah hater." You are so wrapped up in your narrow view, that you won't step back and look at the broader implications of what Israelis becoming. Given the high relative growth of the haredi segment of the population, these kinds of pronouncements, by rabbis accountable to know one, will become more and more prevalent. Israel will become the equivalent of the most backward of Arab countries. Is this what the citizens of Israel want? Don't think so.
13. @dov(#10): But Wait! There's More!
emanon ,   USA   (11.13.12)
If you want to go down that road, you need to go all the way. Why not bring back stoning for the offenses for which it was specified? What about restoring animal sacrifices for atonement? Multiple wives? Marrying your brother's widow? No thank you, I'll stay in the 21st Century.

16. And what is wrong with a man and woman being together?
Vlad   (11.13.12)
Fun fact: Jewish law does not prohibit premarital sex. On the contrary, it was common in the stories of the Torah. It was only the rabbis of Talmudic times who came up with these Puritanistic laws. They cited no sources for doing so other than a Torah passage urging a man not to make his daughters into whores (which could mean a lot of things).
17. The greatest security for rapers...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (11.13.12)
is locked doors. Stop already laughing at, and fighting Rabbis.
18. #12 Israel will finally become A JEWISH STATE!!!
Dov ,   Israel   (11.13.12)
Israel government want Arabs to recognize Israel as a "Jewish" state when they themselves have no clue what being Jewish means. Being Jewish is much more than just being the child of a Jewish mother. Being Jewish is following the Torah to the hair. Because we do not have Sanhedrin anymore we can't practice a lot of things and sentence people for desecrating Shabbat, etc. If not for orthodox Jews, there would be no Jews on this planet anymore and no Israel. It's orthodox Jews who keep Judaism alive. It's orthodox Jews who lived in Israel hundreds of years before 1948 secular zionism came marching in. If we want to keep Israel alive, we have the follow the Torah.
19. 18 That s very true ,Dov.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (11.13.12)
20. #10 Dov is brainwashed... no man made laws in halachah? LOL!
R ,   Jerusalem   (11.13.12)
Are u a baal teshuva? Are you so naive that we can get you to drink the mayim achronim or not flush the toilet on Shabbos so as not to transfer from 1 domain to the other? ;-) Thats a joke people. Dov, come on...torah d'rabbanan, l'moshe miSinai, minhag becomes halacha...Oh but it doesn't transgress Torah Shebichtav (Written Torah), by not adding or taking away from Torah because the man-made lie that the rabbi's have the authority by Hashem to CHANGE the Torah. Yes, don’t blow the shofar on Rosh Hashana Shabbat because you’ll break 1 of our Talmudic laws. Also tell us to lie and say "Baruch atah H" elokeinu melech haolam...blah blah blah...VITZIVANU (He commanded us) al natilat yadayim (and numerous other brachot)" when really it should be VITZIVUNU (they commanded us). It takes just as much faith to believe the Orthodox claim of authority and overriding Torah Shebichtav as it does to believe the earth is flat. Oh wait, those in the Talmud did believe that. Think for yourself people. Read for yourself.
21. #18Dov Judaism 101: Hashem has preserved the Jewish people
R ,   Jerusalem   (11.13.12)
NOT orthodox Jews, and only He will keep Israel alive. And He has done so despite ourselves. He took away the Beis Hamikdash which disables us to fully live out Torah, so out comes Talmudic Judaism to create a new system that allows us to think we are fulfilling our covenantal responsibilities. The claim of authority and masorah break down when you read Tanach without the noise of rabbinical claims. OJ may be having a lot of kids but waves of OTDers (off the derech) are coming out. It's not hard to see why.
22. 20 WRONG,In the Talmud it was...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (11.13.12)
written long before the science discovered that the earth is not flat.
23. Check your brain at the door.
mea   (11.13.12)
The more these guys issue these bizarre directives, the more they come off as puritan christians, trying to control the purity of their woman to such a point that they seem one step away from stoning--I mean come on, spitting on little girls for not being pure enough, modest enough, etc? Here is a clue: When your religious "leaders" start operating as if your sexual experiences are their business, you have a problem with credibility. You will never, ever, ever become pure enough for these men, ever. I mean, these guys are so untrusting they cannot allow two grown adults to be alone, or a little girl to be pure enough to walk to school without having grown men spit upon her and call her a whore. I do not give a whit if this man is a "scholar", he's a backwards out of touch, paranoid buffoon.
24. #22 ORA Exactly! Another reason not to follow talmudic ..
R ,   Jerusalem   (11.13.12)
interpretation of Tanach and blindly follow the rabbis. Think. Read. Break out of your programming.
25. to #4. i'm not a rabbi hater. just a stupidity hater.
ralph   (11.13.12)
26. # rabbi haters and torah haters
Alex ,   Amsterdam   (11.14.12)
I am not a rabbi hater or torah hater, in fact, I am quite bad at hating at all. I do completely fail to understand however how remnants of the Middle Ages still manage to survive today. It is amazing to me. The world progressess right in front of their eyes, and these rabbis still manage to propagate this nonsense. For example we, here in the West, or for all they know, 'we are on the moon', are not afraid to be locked up alone with a woman, because we can control our dity urges, so we do not need these rules anymore. People, they do not seize to amaze me Signed, little green man from Mars
27. #10 - the Talmud is man-made writings...
William ,   Israel   (11.14.12)
and I have never seen in the Torah any mention of this law. Care to enlighten us or do you just drink from the bowl of kool-aid the rabbis are dishing out willingly? Even if such a law were in place - which makes some sense in protective, isolated communities throughout history, if gives ZERO credibility to the Orthodox community that if found in such a situation, they will do the right thing and not engage in intimate actions together. Or, are they considered mindless sheep and must be given no power to make the right decisions on their own?
28. #11- then you're not paying attention to the Mullahs
William ,   Israel   (11.14.12)
In Israel, rabbis give their opinion on self-locking doors which isn't exactly a contradiction to the rule of law. In Iran, gays are hung from cranes throughout the State. If you think they are rational, then maybe you're more of a homophobe than a world citizen.
29. #18 - following the Torah to the hair?
William ,   Israel   (11.14.12)
Do you mean following it literally? Well then, check out both the Talmud and the Kabbalah which claim the Torah cannot be taken literally as it came from G-d's mouth to man's ears. Further, no matter how pious and how educated a rabbi is, his writings in the Talmud are still man-made and not the exact will of G-d. Blame mortal exist on that. And since absolutely NO ONE knows the Torah nor the energy of the times it was handed to the Jews, I take all rabbinical advice with a grain of salt. We are too far removed from the days of Moses to truly know G-d's will, and will only understand it in the days of the Moshiach. and since your group usually believes following the Torah blindly and literally, you will find yourselves quite ignorant when the truth is revealed.
30. Religious nuts
Torvid Hoiland ,   Bryne, Norway   (11.14.12)
I really envy Israel their ultra-orthodox rabbis. We have religious nuts here in Norway too, all countries have them, but the ultra-orthodox rabbis in Israel are funnier than most religious lunatics. LOL.
