31. Is this rabbi nuts???
Ezra ,   Jerusalem   (10.25.12)
Actually women are the ONLY LEADERS in this country. Tzipi Hotovely can do circles around all the male politicians put together.
32. A wahabiya Rabbi in Israel
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (10.25.12)
If Rabbi Aviner does not like women he is free to live where his preferences are accepted. But as a rule, Rabbis should not be involved in politics. Women in politics are great.
33. Opinions and free speech
Michael ,   Haifa   (10.25.12)
While the Voodoo-rabbi Man is entitled to his opinion, I would prefer if he and his ilk would just shut up and never be heard again.
34. someone pls lock the jewish wannabe-ayatollahs in a closet
Jeff ,   USA   (10.25.12)
35. PLEASE MOVE TO AFGHANISTAN !
Rafi ,   US   (10.25.12)
the Jewish community there needs to be revived... And there is no place for you in the Western world.
36. What century are we living in? Golda Meir ...
Essie HaKohane ,   FL. USA   (10.25.12)
Must be rolling in her grave. Tzipi and Shelley (no matter how one feels of their politics) do Israel proud. Israel was a leader in the parity of women in politics --- may it continue. I question the aptness of some of the male politicians.
37. Blithering idiot
Teddy ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.25.12)
So many examples of mentally defective rabbis in Israel ,and on the government payroll.
38. The Rabbi is Confused
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.25.12)
The Knesses is not the Sanhedrin. Israel is not a Halachic/Torah State. The rules which apply to those entities are not applicable to the secular State of Israel nor its governing bodies. The rabbi mistakenly thinks that the State of Israel is the modern substitute for our ancient holy institutions and applies the same standards they had for the modern, non-religious Zionist state. Wrong again. Simply put, there is nothing holy about the State of Israel.
39. the rabbi is right, sorry!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A /Israel   (10.25.12)
40. Jews have had women leaders throughout our history.
rebecca ,   modiin   (10.25.12)
Does he think that Devorah and the likes of her did not lead their men into battle? Was that immodest, or just necessary at the time. Rabbi, there is NOTHING that says that women cannot lead our nation. Modesty is achieved as much by men not looking too hard.
41. It will be funny
Naor ,   USA   (10.25.12)
It will be funny to see what happens when all these ridiculous Rabbis end up driving all the women in their communities away. Then we'll see how quickly these halachic interpretations change.
42. Deborah The Lioness!
The Prophetess ,   FL, USA   (10.25.12)
Interesting that you bring up my namesake, Deborah in your diatribe against Women. Rabbi, while I may respect your devotion to HaShem, I revile your ancient misogynistic views on Womankind. Deborah led, not because "there was no one else," Deborah led because she had the Heart of a Lioness! Point of fact: it is the Lionesses of the pride who hunt - NOT the males.
43. Shameful and Misogynistic
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (10.25.12)
This is outrageous! Keeping Judaism, locked into the 16th century, makes a beautiful religion stagnant and irrelevant. Rabbi, if you choose to become irrelevant, then fine. Just don;t expect us to follow this kind of garbage!
44. Im sorry, even im offended
Religious Zionist ,   Israel   (10.25.12)
im religious zionist and im sorry for theese remarks they even offend me, this is just been taking to the extreme and is no better than Nutari Karta
45. guy jumped directly from sky
Mana ,   us   (10.25.12)
I thought all men and women come from women's womb....looks like this guy jumped directly from sky..
46. Some 70-80 years ago
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.25.12)
others said that for women it must be : Kinder , kuche , kirche . Children , kitchen and church . Replace church with synagogue , and you have more or less aviner's ideas . And with such ideas some want us , seculars , to be tolerant to religion ?
47. Wow - are we in Iran or Israel? (2 upright I's)
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (10.25.12)
Someone please tell me where am I living!? And what year or century ?
48. He should not get the media attention he wishes
cohen, Israel   (10.25.12)
We should all ignore him and his kind, but I can tell you that most Israelis are shocked by such stupid statments coming from such a Rabbi, and don't take him seriously.
49. I say it again
AnĂ´nimo ,   Brazil   (10.25.12)
I prefer Reform and Conservative Judaism than this.
50. #39
DavidR ,   USA   (10.25.12)
At least one tip for the future. The real Sarah B. would not begin a sentence with a lower case. Another tip, Sarah B. would not agree with this Rabbi. Try a new occupation. Identity theft is not for you.
51. Rabbi Aviner
Enoch ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.25.12)
We should consider whether rabbis are allowed to vote or be elected. They all seem to suffer from either mental problems or simple stupidity.
52. Is he drunk?
Ilana   (10.25.12)
Well if it isnt modest then the men can stay at home so the women can vote. Is he crazy? Is he trying to make people run from religion? Can I vomit on him because I am extremely nauseated???
53. Mike
Miriam ,   Miami, USA   (10.25.12)
Yes Iran would be wonderful for the Rabbi, he can make friends with The Ayatollah and they can sit around and figure out how to mess with people. Next they will say women cannot go to school. Sounds like the Taliban, maybe he should go and join them.
54. anachronic ignorant
Leo ,   Canada   (10.25.12)
This guy missed the events of last few hundred years. Was it not because I see how many young, brain-washed kids take rabbis' words for absolute truth, i'd even say he sounds funny.
55. Just another retrograde fanatic biggot.
msh ,   Haifa   (10.25.12)
Seems like that's the curse of the modern orthodox and conservative Judaism. They really deserve better clergy.
56. Shame the Rabbi is a misogynist
Yvonne ,   Israel   (10.25.12)
I say here, here to the comments of numbers 7, 16, 17 and 24. The Rabbi Definately is a misogynist and it would be advantageous for all to look that word up as many men in our society today are bending towards that view... shame on you.
57. Ynet reports and we go balistic!!!
Arlene ,   Israel   (10.25.12)
Who cares what this rabbi thinks. This is Israel NOT Iran and he can waffle on all he wants.
58. Miriam #53 I'm Israeli and these people leave
Mike ,   Israel   (10.25.12)
leave such a horible taste in my mout. They are embarssing to say the least and have no place in today's Israel. Religion must be seperated from state and hopefully that day will come as Israel deserves it.
59. Shame !
patrick a.hammel ,   zermatt,switzerland   (10.25.12)
A light unto the nations ? It's getting pretty dark in the Rabis quarters....
60. #39 Sarah -The Rabbi Is Right
Ahmad Cohen ,   Ibn Mousa HaLevy   (10.25.12)
Religious women who accept his authority and who are brainwashed into believing this garbage definitely should not be allowed to vote.
