6. What a Pride, what a contributions...
Avouskila ,   South America   (10.30.12)
Yes, even if you put on the pedestal Prof. Serge Harosh-Haroche, Nobel Price recepient, he is still a proud Jewish Moroccan. Instead of making immigration to Israel in 1956 like hundreds of thousands of co-religionaires with the exact same socio-economic strata, his familly decided to stay in France...result he spoke French was able to integrate in the French school curriculae, and with his drive and motivation, he was able to be the Third Jewish Moroccan Nobel Price Laureate since 1988 (Remember Prof. Baruj Benassaraf?). The same Jewish Moroccan that moved to Israel, had to fight the prejudices, the stealing of his idenditity, to learn a new language, which in the process resulted from the loss of great contributions of at least two if not more generations. Yes, we are proud and very satisfied that his contribution might also change the conditions of our poor humanity. Bravo!!!

8. tayfun: iranian scientists were working on nuclear weapons
rick ,   walnut creek   (10.30.12)
the iranian scientists (or engineers, mostly) that have been killed were working on a nuclear weapon in violation of the pledges of the iranian govt. and, why were they trying to develop a bomb? to destroy (read what their leaders say) a country that wants to live in peace with them. so, tayfun, those scientists and all who work on iranian nuclear weapons should be killed.
9. He is one of the three 2012 Jewish Nobel prizes

10. Muslim Nobel Prize Winners
Josh   (10.31.12)
Both this Haroche and his co-winner David Wineland are Jewish. Jews are this tiny percentage of the world population, approximately 0.02%, while Muslims constitute almost 20% of global population. Yet Jews are constantly winning Nobel Prizes in cutting edge fields like biology and physics, while I cannot remember the last Arab or Muslim whoever did so. Its' so sad really - Islam used to be a center of world knowledge several centuries ago, and now it has fallen to the bottom. Muslims blame Israel, the Jews, America- but they really need to look squarely at themselves in the mirror.

15. Science depends on sharing
Joseph ,   London UK   (11.13.12)
Progress in science and medicine depend on sharing research, and boycotts are therefore counterproductive. Here in the UK all the top research universities -- Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College etc. -- have rejected boycotts.
