1. End phony "peace talks with Palestinians".
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.31.12)
Lapid has nothing to offer Israel. More of the same old rubbish that continues to get Israelis maimed and murdered. More pretending our would be mass murderers are our friends. End the phony "peace talks with Palestinians" once and for all. Nobody needs Lapid.
2. peace and practicality
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (10.31.12)
It sounds nice to be for peace, but it is better to understand the Arab mentality. Simply speaking, the Arabs only use peace in order to get a lull to persue their activities of trying to destroy us. We must realize that Israel is a blotch on the face of Islam since this land was under Turkish (Islamic) domination and according to their religion (see Koran) it must be returned to Islamic domination. That is why Arafat couldn't accept Barak's 99% deal, that is why Hamas could not accept Sharon's 100% withdrawal, that is the reason that we can not have peace unless we are much much stronger than they are. That is the unfortunate reality of the Middle East and if any one does not understand this simple truth, he/she has not tried very hard.
3. Lapid is a fool what he proposes is a non start for PALS
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (10.31.12)
He is just traying to create a political momentum. Abbas might seat with him if he agrees to the right of return, to divide Jerusalem and to expell the settlers. before starting talks Abbas wont a gree to a Jewish state. This is what is call pure and simple demagoguie.
4. One must be certifiably 'insane' to think he'd have a
Edithann ,   USA   (10.31.12)
chance of peace..Israeli's only want to take Palestinian lands and get rid of the Palestinians...There is no translation of 'PEACE' in Hebrew... TATA
5. Exactly right #3. Exactly.
Israeli 2   (10.31.12)
6. Yes #2: You are absolutely correct.
Israeli 2   (10.31.12)
7. Dishonest MSM journo
Yonah   (10.31.12)
Pretended to be a journo but he's a lefty looney moron all along. Surprise!
8. Before elections leaders all talk peace, peace, peace
Sam ,   Canada   (10.31.12)
Before long Netanyahu will also tell us how pro peace he is. The Left and the Right also have to tell us how pro settler they are for the purpose of a future coalition, Palestinians will also tell us how pro peace they are for the purpose of extracting concessions. So, get ready for a lot of peace talk with no peace action.
9. I concur with you #1 as always. Thanks
Israeli 2   (10.31.12)
for your excellent commentaries and please do not stop.
10. Since the Lunatic Left must have a slogan as a guide through
tom ,   tel aviv   (10.31.12)
reality I propose they drop "PEACE" and adopt "SOCIAL JUSTICE" as their knee-jerk motto! "Peace talks" is getting soooo old& stale that it's hard to withstand the smell.........
11. The simple truth is there will be peace through negotiations
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.31.12)
It is easy to give up, to claim this or that doesn't fit. When peace is attempted both sides stop doing the old stuff and start something new. In a state of peace anything is possible, anything becomes practical.. And it will happen, sooner or later. Yair Lapid can give it a push. I wish you the best of luck with delivering peace to the Middle East Minister Lapid.
12. Stick to reading the news Lapid
David ,   Israel   (10.31.12)
If there is anything that speaks the most about performing at anything professionally whether its politics or any career - experience is the most valuable. Lapid has no political experience whatsoever, has no real military experience (besides serving as a jobnick journalist) and frankly has basically just sat and read the news for the past decade. Atleast Bibi served in the army until the rank as a Captain in the most elite combat unit Sayeret Matkal. He has also been Prime Minister , Foreign minister and Finance Minister. Just like I wouldn't pay an inexperienced hairdresser or mechanic neither will i vote an inexperienced politician/leader.
13. Big Deal
Michael ,   Haifa   (10.31.12)
Even our local Medvedev-Putin party support "peace talks". Lapid will most probably join a coalition with them. After all that is where "the money is".
14. I didn't know Lapid was a comedian
zionist forever   (10.31.12)
Lapid will join any coalition that is willing to make him a senior government minister. The man is not forming a party because he has ideals he is doing it because he wants to get into politics and wants afast track to the top rather than work his way through the ranks of a mainstream party. Form a party based around himself and his fame then join any coalition willing to pay his price. He has already been trying to sell himself as all things to all people. He has talked right wing to the Likud voters he is trying to poach whilst he tells the leftists he is committed to the peace process. He is telling the religious he respects the haredi and has even got himself a rabbi as his number two and to the seculars he is anti haredi. Lapid is nothing but a con man whose only policy is advancing the political career of Yair Lapid.
15.  Wake up Dov Lipman!!!
gail ,   Bet Shemesh   (10.31.12)
How can you support someone who wants to expell 1000s of jews from their homes!
16. # 14
Teddy ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.31.12)
no , he is a clown.
17. Lapid
Iletzter ,   TA- Israel   (10.31.12)
It seems that anti-haredi agenda of his father wasn't very successful. So, Lapid tried to find a more succeesful agenda. Social agenda was already adopted by Shelly. So, what is left ? This idiot decided , to jump on the Palestinian agenda- which is bound to fail. But , at least he has an agenda , and will possibly find some imbeciles who still believe in Oslo and the fallacies that Peres and the rabin legacy promoted.
18. political gibberish the media loves to love
just me   (10.31.12)
...already showing what a brilliant insightful person he is...not...wish him only well, but he should stay in the entertainment business though media is ready to paint him an experienced leader...get over it people....
19. might just as well go artic, talk to the ice
rick ,   walnut creek   (10.31.12)
lapid wants to talk. so important to talk. right? has he been asleep for the last several years? has he been paying attention? and, let's say this little man manages to make some kind of agreement. what is the value of an agreement signed by abbas? how durable can such an agreement be? has this little man given this any thought? undoubtedly, he has not.
20. Dov Lipman& Yair Lapid
gail ,   Bet Shemesh   (10.31.12)
The settlement blocs plan means the expulsion of about 140,000 people from their homes, which is 15 times as much as the number of people expelled from Gush Katif.”
21. Lapid is an Israeli Journalist speaking. This is the Press
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (10.31.12)
This is the Israeli Press a bunch of loonies. Who don't know left from right as long as they fill in articles critizising the PM on the government. Some years ago they critisize Ben Gurion, then it was Eshkol, or Golda, or in their time Rabin (now he is a Demi God) then it was Beguin or Shamir. Olmert and Livni and now BIBI. Now comes this clown to discover the Warm Water. He is not Left and not Right. Like in the Picture. " You have a government I am against it" His agenda so stupid. It is a non start anyway. Don't worry in a few years we will have Attila Somerfab from Yediot runing for PM
22. #1 worse than you say
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (10.31.12)
Previous "leaders" who offered the same failed policies had some experience in the government or legislation. Lapid's career involved his powerful father giving him an influential job as a senior journalist. He has no record, no experience, no ability.
23. Good!
Shmuel ,   Maale Adumim   (10.31.12)
Stay out of government and go write a sports article!
24. Lapid wants peace talks !
(10.31.12)
Yes , but on some conditions . Ariel , Gush Etzion , Maale Adumim and most of all , Yeroushalaim shall remain Israeli . Does someone think that a palestinian leader will accept it as base for peace talks ? They even rejected the more avantageous proposals that Barak made . For them it's "everything or nothing" aqnd this since eternity .
25. # 24 is mine
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.31.12)
26. This is another indication that Lapid makes worst politician
Marco ,   Spain   (10.31.12)
Lapid the NOBODY doesn't have one vote yet and already threatens.
27. It's the PA that doesn't want talks ..
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (10.31.12)
And I don't blame them. The PA wants the whole of Israel and no Israeli leader is going to give it to them. So what is there to talk about? Over the last few years I read a few of Lapid jnr's article and found him to be hard left, and I believe nothing of what he has to say now that he is looking for voters.
28. #11. "Peace talks with Palestinians" a total disaster.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.31.12)
#11. The simple truth is that "peace talks with Palestinians" are a total disaster for Israel in every way. They destroy Israel's self respect. They cause our civilians to be maimed and murdered. They bring murderous rockets on us. It's time to end end madness forever. This land is ours. Pay "Palestinians" to leave forever.
29. 28 , Chaim . Bibi in Paris today
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.31.12)
"i'm ready to talk without conditions with the PA authority about peace" And what if they don't want to leave ? What will you do with the 1.5 Israeli Arabs ? Why do you think that palestinians receive work permits into Israel ? To do them a favor ? No , we NEED them .
