The key to the issue both in Israel and throughout the Western world is how to permit civil partnership without this leading to same sex marriage in church or synagogue. With the way human rights courts can change the traditions of millennia, our willingness to compromise to protect the rights of same sex couples is complicated. Here in the UK we are assured when civil unions were legalised this would never lead to same sex marriage. Next we were told it will only be same sex civil marriage. Now we are told the law should permit [demand] same sex marriage in church etc.

The correct term is "homosexuals" and the type of "rabbi" that we're talking about needs to be specified.
