1. Mr. Friedman is a smug person!!
Davis Golan ,   Ashkelon IL   (11.12.12)
Mr. Friedman cannot and will not understand that his remarks feed terrorism against Israel.
2. friedman mind your own buisness
dovdevan ,   ashdod,paris   (11.12.12)
3. May I remind Mr. Friedman ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.12.12)
.... that while neither Putin nor Lieberman own slaves, Thomas Jefferson surely did. What was that you were saying about democracy, Mr. Friedman?
4. On what base does Mr. Friedman base his 'prediction?
tiki ,   belgium   (11.12.12)
As Tom Friedmans analysis & prophecies have been an example of 'getting things wrong', I wonder why this one would change the pattern.
5. Israel will just have to stick it out with Hussein another 4
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.12.12)
years. The current US President Hussein was never a friend of Netanyahu nor of Israel and Netanyahu's voting for Romney did NOT make things worse. Lev malachim v'sarim b'yad Hashem. [The heart of kings and officers are in the hand of G-d.] G-d will not forsake us even in the current situation. We have nothing to fear.
6. Bibi has become an unnecessary liability to Israelis
Avi ,   Israel   (11.12.12)
Netanyahu has become a liability to Israelis and Israel proper. No matter how hard he tries to argue that Israel's relationship with the US is strong, no one will believe him. I do not think Obama has a problem with Israel or Israelis because he never demonstrated any racist or bigoted predisposition. On the contrary, he seems to be a man of the world that respects its diversity and the contributions of the human spirit. I do believe however that he has a big debt to settle with Netanyahu who has dragged us down with him because of his narcissism. Yes, narcissism. Have no one noticed that whenever Bibi responds on his relationship with Obama, he keeps saying that Israel's relationship with Obama remains strong!!! I was not aware that Netanyahu changed his name from Bibi to... Israel! It seems that Netanyahu thinks HE IS ISRAEL. He is verging on insanity and megalomania. Maybe Netanyahu is also considering of writing his own PSALMS like Suleiman and David? It is not enough that Netanyahu ruined our relationship with the first country that recognized Israel's independence that is Turkey, now he has jeopardized our relationship with the US. And still he keeps saying that Bibi's relationship...sorry... Israel's relationship with Obama remains strong. Netanyahu brought us disgrace at a time of instability when we need all the support we can get from the US. Shame on you Bibi..sorry, meant Israel. You disgraced all of us because of your megalomania.
7. Domestic problems
Larry ,   Raanana   (11.12.12)
Remember that it was Obama who caused those domestic problems. What an IDIOCRACY the US has become
8. US to abstain at the UN ...
Palestinian   (11.12.12)
UN General Assembly to recognise a Palestinian state on November 29, 2012.
9. What Mr. Friedman is really saying is...
RichInBoston ,   Boston USA   (11.12.12)
..that Obama's ME foreign policy is a failed policy. Any Israeli failure is an American failure. The lack of leadership by this administration is setting the stage for a wide scale conflict the size and scope we have not witnessed since WWII. Turning his back and focusing on domestic issues isn't what we elect a president to do. He is a failure.
10. Remember when clinton sent his two
jason white ,   afula, israel   (11.12.12)
flunkies calville and greenberg to help ehud buraq in his first election against bibi? b.o. will be busy at home. There will be hearings on benghazi and "fast and furious". Not to mention how many people are unemployed. but are not counted as unemployed. Their benefits ran out, so they are not counted. Also the national debt grew under b.o. and employment was minimum wage or part time. b.o. needs morons like friedman to push his thuggish jihadist agenda. Just because someone works for the New York slimes does not mean they are right or intelligent. There would have been a different result in the elections, if Mitt picked Rubio as his veep.
11. Friedman is Right - No Time
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (11.12.12)
Unless Israel is under invasion, there is no time for the US to pay attention. The US has its own problems to solve and no time for messing around with feel-good stuff. Besides, there is no point, unless Netanyahu is reelected and then decides to get adventuresome by starting a world war. Gergen is wrong in thinking that Iran is the most important issue to Americans. It barely registers and is well below Afghanistan where US troops are under fire daily. As for talking to Palestinians, Israel can figure its own way to do that if Israel wishes. Any US leverage with them is gone, given to Netanyahu last year when the US vetoed the Palestinians at the UNSC.
12. :-)
J.Gedalov ,   Israel   (11.12.12)
i like Friedman more than Lapid
13. O great American President, dont listen to Comrade Friedman
Alan ,   SA   (11.12.12)
14. Other issues
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (11.12.12)
And there are other issues that Obama might need to handle. He failed to engage and increased antagonism with Russia, China, India and Japan, who all distrust him and Mrs. Clinton. Obama seems to have escaped unscathed from "fast and furious" and Bengahzi, but he still has some minor issues like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mali, Libya, Egypt, Sinai and Syria. And if he does solve these problems, he will still have Iran...
15. Friedman is RIGHT.
James ,   US,Ohio   (11.12.12)
As a Republican in Ohio who voted for McCain 2008, I was enraged that Netanyahu interfered in our Presidential politics. That is why I and my family voted for Obama 2012. Netanyahu disrespected my President in front of reporters at the White House and interfered in my country's Presidential internal politics. Does this deserve understanding on the American people's part and our President's part? I understand Mr. Yossi Sarid's argument of being the bigger person. But can one afford to trust the untrustworthy? Only a fool would do so, and we are not Netanyahu's fools. Good luck with your elections. What Netanyahu did will NOT be overlooked nor forgiven. Let them keep him at their own expense. The friendship that existed has been broken. We will not trust the untrustworthy Netanyahu. It seems after all the heat the US tolerates for protecting Israel's interest in the UN was for nothing. What are the American people repaid with? Disrespect of our President before the world and the undermining of our Presidential elections with Israeli interference. Hell no Netanyahu will not be forgiven.
16. #15 BS king
(11.12.12)
There is no way anyone who could have supported Governor Romney would change his mind and vote for Obama because of the Israel issue. My guess? James from Ohio is actually Ehud from Holyland.
17. Re No 6 Avi Isreal
AA ,   UK   (11.12.12)
Vow Avi how articulate and spot on are you, the prospective for a non -subjective outsider is exactly how you describe it . I am afraid most of the rest of the posters seem to have buried their head in the sand without realising how the outside world sees it.
18. Sorry to disappoint you!
James ,   US,Ohio   (11.12.12)
Unfortunately, I am not from a place called Holyland nor is my name Ehud. In fact, its James and my nick name is Stevo. I suggest you stop guessing because you are horrible at it. Consider doing something else. May be start reading a book instead of using your irrationality. Amazing..So your deductive irrationality is that a Republican could vote for Obama? You must belong to the Tea Party crazies..Its your like of thinking that lost us the senate and the white house. And will continue to do so. Go read a book. Mr. BS KING... I can see why you choose this name for yourself..Troll
19. why does ynet keep printing these dimwits?
avi ,   bangkok   (11.12.12)
20. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.12.12)
So if Israel launches a pre-emptive strike against Iran, and Iran -- being far too cowardly to retaliate against Israel -- attacks a United States asset, such as a U.S. naval vessel in the Gulf -- it will barely register, right? Not surprising.
21. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.12.12)
And were Israel to fully and formally annex Judea and Samaria on November 30, 2012 -- where will you be then? I'll tell you. On your way to Jordan. No one will stop us. Of that you can be assured.
22. #11 what plant are you part of?
afied ,   usa   (11.12.12)
Obama made an open mike comment to the French president "you can. magine I have to deal with Bibi every day." It was an insult. While the presidents met arab dictators through the front door he had Bibi go through the back and garbage of the WH. Hence that is an insult. Bibi publically was appropriate and never did things outside political normes.
23. @18
ududy   (11.12.12)
So you don't mind, James from Ohio, that your newly re-elected president, when confronted by Muslim thugs attacking your Egypt embassy, prefers to apologize for a a privately produced film and make sure its creator goes to prison - for one excuse or another - instead of, oh i don't know: maybe clarifying the American value of free speech to his friends at the Muslim brotherhood, demanding that they protect US property and lives and prosecute the real guilty party - ie the thugs who are considered heroes in Egypt? Yes, you'll go far with such a strong leader. BTW, did you already catch the people who killed your ambassador to Libya? No, didn't think so.
24. t freidman- irrelevant!
oded ,   usa   (11.12.12)
t.friedman continues to flaunt his astounding irrelevancy. small in stature and his world view, his simmering anti israel agenda in not a new. obama's revenge'? please, a bit too much to ask from an inept, narcesstic bafoon.
25. Fighting the last war
Avramele   (11.12.12)
My suggestion is that we Israelis and Jews start focusing on what is and what will be and stop making false analogies with the past. This is not about the results of last Tuesday, the Shoah, 1973, The pullout from Gaza or Thomas Jefferson's slaves. It's about maintaining our Jewish and democratic character and finding a smart accommodation with arabs internally and on sensibly adjusted borders. Massada fell, bar Kochba lost, Obama won - let's move on.
26. Wishful thinking
Sarah B   (11.12.12)
The war against Al Qaeda continues, Egypt is still not stabilised, Syria has a minor problem which may destabilise surrounding countries. Lebanon is in difficulties, and things are not looking good in Turkey A major part of Obama's economic strategy is to get Middle Eastern countries to buy arms, and there is a need to counter China's growing influence in the Middle East. Israel is not simply going to be able to slip under the radar for four years. I'd expect whoever wins the elections will be summoned to Washington to be told what is expected of them.
27. #21 'Sarah B'
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (11.12.12)
You are clearly having problems with keeping in touch with reality
28. Put Friedman in a rocket
steve from raleigh   (11.12.12)
And send him back to Gaza.
29. Friedman who?
Anshel ,   Canada   (11.12.12)
" Netanyahu and his thuggish partner, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman"? Who is this guy to make such arrogant comments? They were elected democratically, the same way as his "love" of his life, Barack Hussein Obama.
30. Don't worry Friedman, the anointed Obama
Eyal ,   USA Israel   (11.12.12)
will soon beg for Israel's help, when Arabia is on fire, along with all the US bases
