1. You can draft all the dead wood you want ..the point is
Al   (11.13.12)
IS ISRAEL WILLING to DEFEND ITSELF? The anwer is no. Witness the fact that a rag tag gang of bombers are making life in the south miserable. The IDF today is a nothing...sad but true. Your COS DM and PM are worthless. So go ahead draft the virgin mary it wont help you as long as you are unwilling to defend yourselves.
2. I Call Them Moochers Galore
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (11.13.12)
While ultra get away with not serving their country, using all kinds of excuses, many foreign Jews and non0-Jews are in the IDF, happy to be protecting Israel and BTW, their own countrymen. Israel is fighting our fight (USA, etc.). We owe them something, but they must be held accountable ( Haredi), Recall that during WW2, the Axis powers looked for Jews..and the more religious, the easier to find and "eliminate". Even abroad, they are targets galore. That should teach them something. We are all in this together guys. US Jews need Israeli Jews, and Israei Jews need US Jews, for many reasons. 1m Jews fought the Krauts during WW2. Israel swept the draft problem beneath the bus for decades, creating this mess. Now it is paying the piper. In the US, there are 11m illegals and 6m who willnot join any healthplan. We created this problem..and will, like Israel, have difficulty once the laws are enacted. and enforced. Israel-USA, two peas in a pod. Patriots vs the I dont give a damn crowd.
3. this is what the secular elite want not what the army wants
zionist forever   (11.13.12)
The army doesn't want the haredi, they are already to cutback on manpower to save money. Now the army are going to have to spend millions creating new haredi units they neither need or want because the secular public are moaning its not fair the haredi are exempt. If we didn't rush the haredi issue to pleases the masses which the politicians did then they could have taken their time and looked at all options. The government isn't going to give the IDF more money so they can draft the haredi. The money won't appear from thin air so the IDF will have to make cutbacks so serving soldiers will pay the price for the haredi draft.i The ideal solution would have been rather than forcing the haredi to serve in the army would have been to create a civilian national service for the haredi. Something that fits in more with their lifestyle which would have meant less objection but at the same time they would still be doing their bit for society. We do so love to rush, get it all wrong and then later on look for scapegoats.
4. Good Move!
Jew1 ,   Ashdod   (11.13.12)
It's about time these haredim will start understanding what does is mean by "responsibility". Draft them all - men and women but do not change rules and regulations in idf to suit their unjustified demands. Given them Kosher foods and separate stay and that's it. No more consessions.
5. Easy Solution
Joe ,   Texas   (11.13.12)
Put them all in cyber defense. They will adapt to it, since programming has a limited English vocabulary and is strong in symbolic logic. 14,000 Haredim will strengthen the cyberwall.
6. #4 - Generally agree, but "separate stay" defeats a basic
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   www.netzarim.co.il   (11.13.12)
which is exposure to the real world for zombies presently under the thumbs of their rabbi idols. On the other hand, as a date leumi, when I served I often found that it was more difficult than it should be in a Jewish army of David ha-Melekh to pray Shakharit, etc. as a minyan. And, for those remote from a chow hall (outposts, naval vessels, etc.), even basic kashrut was not the soldiers' norm. It should be. Non-religious must also be accommodating.
7. The Haredim should be glad they will serve in the IDF and
Rivkah   (11.13.12)
not in the US military where soldiers are defiled by gang rapes in showers and no charges are filed against the rapists since BHO legalized sodomy in the US military and it is no longer a crime.
