1. Nonsense!!
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (11.16.12)
The israeli people are more intelligent and have more grasp of the current situation than the editors at Yediot Aharonot.
2. The WHIMP word warriors
M.devitt ,   Longmont usa   (11.16.12)
Just bend over and grab your ankles.never again, sure !
3. Nahum Barnea is wrong! End the rocket attacks!
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (11.16.12)
People want an end to the rocket attacks! People understand only too well that soldiers may get wounded and killed, when attempting too bring about an end to the rocket attacks, but what is the point of having the IDF if you're afraid to use it? I remember Halutz saying, "My greatest daily fear was that Israeli soldiers would get killed". And we saw the result of that thinking during the 2nd Lebanon war.
4. Israel's stupidity is endless
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (11.16.12)
Why ground offensive ? And why expensive and dangerous air raids ? If the arabs shot an aircraft and capture pilot what will be then ? Once more again I suggest permanent artillery fire with the largest caliber (220 mm) guns.
5. Ynetnews is right - Netanyahu is NOT politically motivated
Jonah ,   Washington, DC   (11.16.12)
Netanyahu knows that he could lose an election to defend his citizens from rocket fire, and he's doing it anyway. He has chosen to elevate his duty above his self interest. Good for him. And, uh thanks ynetnews for pointing this out. Netanyahu deserves credit for elevating duty above self-interest and political considerations, and you gave it to him. I'm sure you're proud :)
6. Decision making
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.16.12)
If Netanyahu is consistent with his character, the outcome of all this will be determined by his assessment of how it impinges on the coming elections.
7. Nahum is right, here's why.
ראליסט ,   Rishpon, IL   (11.16.12)
Israel is not in a position to go on dangerous adventures. Let's get real: The country just cannot afford any prolonged and direct confrontation (see 2006 and 2009). Also, there's no strategy and no defined mission for Tzahal under the current leadership. In these circumstances, too much is at stake for the political echolon and the country's economy. It sounds harsh, but the only option right now is to use ABMs to protect urban centres, to destroy a few launch pads in Gaza and to hope for a truce. Anything else will just make matters worse.
8. What are 6M Jews doing in the middle of the Arab world?
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (11.16.12)
9. Written By A True Coward
ACortez ,   Anaheim, CA, USA   (11.16.12)
The world needs leaders not politicians. Hopefully Bibi could care less and destroys gaza so that the residents flee to their homeland of Egypt.
10. Contrived political assassination
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (11.16.12)
Mr Ben_Yishai does back flips to try to condemn Bibi in advance of a wartime operation. Anyone with a shred of intelligence sees through this as an atempt to shape public opinion before the fact. "The candidate's fate is in the hands of others – a pilot's error, a rocket that lands on a day care center..." Of course, he's silent about rockets falling into Israel, aimed specifically to hit innocent citizens. But dare Israel hit a day care center whence Hamas launches rockets towards Israel and the bleeding hearts come out like bats in the night! If you citizens of Israel listen to these woe-begotten 'minds,' Israel hasn't a chance to survive! You are in a war! You won't survive listening to enemies from within!
11. Yea, and a Romney/GOP Landslide Win!
Jersey Jew ,   New Jersey, USA   (11.16.12)
Reap what you sow ...
12. Wash me, but don't make me wet
Yael Schlichting ,   currently Munich   (11.16.12)
There will be casualties! If we are Jews, we will keep the unfortunate ones in our mind and support their families! We must bring this to an end and we can be grateful, that we have a PM, who is strong enough to do so. Why are we always lamenting and demanding impossible things.
13. You are a follower, not a leader
(11.16.12)
By showing you prefer not have any political.military agenda of your own, ( using empty sentences like " Netanyahu tries to fix his mistakes " etc,,) you are compelled to react to the ennemy's initiative.THis is the whole big mental illusion , the israeli left clings to, despite Oslo, the peace process, the unilateral concessions and withdrawals which are a smokescreen for further arab agression . The Israeli left and the "peace at all cost/ whatever the true results" is the mother of the current mess ( to wich you even involved Sharon ).So Netanyahu ha no responsibilities , he did small mistakes , but he never did ABNORMAL HUGE EXISTENTIAL mistakes like the israeli left did.To throw again and again dirt at Bibi is desperately trying to withwash your wishful thinking fantasy, our ennmeies are very easily exploiting since 1993.
14. What about the fourth front, the religious?
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.16.12)
War means religion has failed Israel, God has not intervened to prevent it! Rockets are starting to fall on Jerusalem, the holy city. Where are the religious parties to stop it through intervening with God? Why do secular soldiers need to go on the ground and get killed while the shamiim is silent? In the coming elections nobody will vote for the failures which the religious are proving themselves to be indisputably.
15. Ibecill, don;t hur people intelegency
(11.16.12)
Israel shoul be around the leader in this context and political speculation are irrelevant, Advice, try another profession, at leasr try to earn an onest living.
16. #11 How pathetic and petty can you be?
Jake   (11.16.12)
17. barnea....
les ,   canada   (11.16.12)
where do you keep your brain (if you have any)? you know what would be CATASTROPHIC? if dozens, or maybe hundreds of children, women and innocent civilians killed by those murderers, and Netanyahu did nothing to stop it. please, pull your head out of there....
18. Barnea outdoes his usual stupidity in this article.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.16.12)
Barnea's articles are normally brain dead leftist mantra. However, this article outdoes his usual stupidity. Israel is fighting to protect her civilians. Which is the primary responsibility of the government. This has nothing to do with politics. Barnea's mindless inanity of playing politics with the protection of our civilians is stupifying. Barnea doesn't deserve a column anywhere except in insignficant far left rags.
19. #8 Living!
Phil ,   Ireland   (11.16.12)
20. That's not why Olmert's career ended
clearsighted ,   USA   (11.16.12)
Olmert's career didn't end because of casualties, it ended because he and Barak so ineptly prosecuted that war for more than 30 days that the casualties were unnecessarily high; more than 100 dead for no perceptible gain in the end.
21. How Arrogant!
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif USA   (11.16.12)
How arrogant of Netanyahu to fight back just because rockets are being fired into Israel! How arrogant for Jews to not just die quietly, and dare to fight back! How arrogant to suggest that the Muslim attackers are at fault! After all, the Muslims are simply practicing their religion, and Jews have no right to object to that! The thinking that permitted the Holocaust to occur still exists!
22. This guy is living in alternate universe
Avi ,   USA   (11.17.12)
Barnea looks like a chinese farmer commenting on the situation. Leftist blinders will not make the situation better. the PA does not want to sue us? This is exactly what they want. they want to destroy us. War is no good for elections? let's just let the syrians and egyptians have the key to the state b4 elections.
23. To #8: What Arab world?
(11.16.12)
What are 3+ millions Arabs doing on the Jewish Land if they have 23 Arabic states?
24. # 14
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.17.12)
Michael, believe it or not. I am watching the Israeli news on TV & I see religious soldiers going to their bases. There has been a huge call-up of reservists, religious included. (Friday16th. 12.18. past midnight.)
25. nonsense or not such is the price that must be paid
former expat   (11.17.12)
to lead......................... please
26. Israeli Jews are plain stupid
Gregg ,   Haifa IL   (11.17.12)
They'll vote for Bibi again and then they'll claim that 20% of Jews have Nobel Prices. Bs
27. What's Steve Benassi #8 doing in America?
Al Levy ,   Toronto   (11.17.12)
Funny that Steve Benassi is an American occupation settler sitting on stolen land. Jews come from Palestine - that is a fact. Steve Benassi probably comes from Europe and is squatting on stolen Sioux or Blackfoot nation land. It is a clear fact that Steve is the occupier, while Jews are from Israel - our native homeland. Benassi should put his money where his mouth is, and go back to where he came from.
28. All those in the Middle East
John Prophet   (11.17.12)
who wish to see the beast and it's minions neutralized need stand back and keep out of the way. Israel has the means and will use their means against any who comes against her. It is written!
29. Israelis, always look at the bright side
joseph ,   Australia   (11.17.12)
Yesterday, as Hamas fired on its very own loyal supporters, in the very left leaning Tel Aviv, I now predict that the Right wing coalition will win around 75 seats. The sirens in Tel Aviv yesterday finally signaled Oslo final death notice. Serving in the past in Israeli Army in Sinai, I too gladly put my life at risk for Israel and would not vote for appeasement.
30. Sorry for missing the action....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.17.12)
