1. The question they never ask....
Jacob Erickson ,   Holon, Israel   (11.19.12)
They always ask if people support the palestiians or the arabs, but they never ask if people support hamas or the rockets and mortars launched from Gaza. They need to ask the people that do not support Israel if they support the actions of Hamas in Gaza.
2. Wrong
Eason ,   US   (11.19.12)
No. Most of my friends in US do not back Israel. Instead, we found Israel's actions very wrong.
3. 57% US support is approx. 41% less than it should've been.
leo ,   usa   (11.19.12)
4. @#1
lightharry ,   New York   (11.19.12)
Ask Netanyahu why he want to start a war with Iran.
5. support Israel
alan ,   ohio   (11.19.12)
and your friends must be left wing professors who were born Jewish but that's all!!!!
6. # 2 - Sorry but
Lauren ,   Israel   (11.19.12)
you are wrong. Most Americans DO support Israel. It is usually the brainwashed young liberals who do not. It's always "cool" to support the underdog - and they have decided that the Palestinians are the underdog. Just shows how informed they are.
7. This isn't true.
Edward ,   Denver, USA   (11.19.12)
no we don't
8. This American Thinks
JMSurprenant ,   Bedford, MA USA   (11.19.12)
The actions of Israel as well as the actions of the Palestinians is deplorable. Let's see God in the other and stop killing God's creation in the name of our politics. Shameful.
9. Not Surprising
Andrew ,   Iowa, USA   (11.19.12)
The poll results are not surprising. The US (and Canada) have populations that are very supportive of Israel and understand the situation Israel finds herself in. We also have felt Arab terror first hand - so we know that Israel is also indirectly protecting us.
10. Polls
TRussert ,   Punta Gorda, USA   (11.19.12)
57%? I guess you haven't heard about polling reliability in the US then. Don't bet on 57%, or even 50%. No one wants to see this happening, especially as an election political ploy. You will drag us all into WWIII. JMHO
11. #2
sharon ,   southern Israel   (11.19.12)
I have 2 questions for you and your friends - 1) When was the last time you had a rocket fall near you or your family? 2) Do you also think that America's actions were very wrong when it killed tens of thousands of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan? Just curious.
12. Should have been at least 80%
Tahl   (11.19.12)
Looks like our foreign ministry, our friends in the US, our bloggers and our commenters have got their work cut out for them. Let's get to work then, it's time to eradicate the ignorance.
13. to eason.usa
erika bachar-kann ,   shdema, israel   (11.19.12)
you ever had rockets fired at your homes. for many years o r suicide bombers? do your children go to school every day and do the schools have shelters for them?
14. Demographics
Scott ,   California, US   (11.19.12)
I see that support is mainly from the demographic segments that lost both of the last US elections. The aging white male that was once the core of the US voting population, is dying off, with women, the young, and minorities coming into their own as political powers. Could US popular support be in the process of fading away? So it seems to me, an aging white male American.
15. To @#2
Ken ,   USA   (11.19.12)
Wrong, Eason. Your comment says nothing about the accuracy of the poll. But it tells us all we need to know about your little social circle.
16. # 2
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (11.19.12)
It's understandable. You and your friends must have voted for Obama.
17. # 4
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (11.19.12)
I imagine he won't ask because it's a stupid question.
18. Hamas is a terror group in US, its support is criminal.
Miron ,   USA   (11.19.12)
Stop writing twisted articles. America supports Israel very strongly. Some support Israel more others support Israel less. But the whole America looks at Israel and its English speaking press in bemusement.
19. Isreal is a liability to the US
Young Moderate ,   Chicago   (11.19.12)
In the last 10 years I have gone from being sympathetic to Israel to hoping that we cut all ties and support. The US can not afford to be tied to the inflexible attitudes and actions of the Israeli Government. The Israeli government misjudges the American people, and misjudges how natural gas and shale oil affects our strategic interests in the middle east.
20. Most Americans Support Israel Offensive
Ruth ,   canada   (11.19.12)
I don't believe that for a second! That is your propaganda machine at work - the world is appalled!!
21. don't side with Hamas or Iran
Chris ,   CA USA   (11.19.12)
Israel DEFINITELY has right to defend against rocket fire - as people note, the US would have pounded Mexico (or their drug lords) after 2 or 3 rockets were fired at Texas. Israel has been very patient letting 2500 rockets be fired before responding. The blame lies with Hamas letting Jihad kick up the rocket firing over the past month, and BOTH these are to blame for selling Gaza and the Palestinians to pay for an Iranian forward base - those long-range rockets came with a high price of Gazan lives. Hamas can stop I.Jihad, but it will be harder to back out of the deal they made with Iran (is like telling a knee-breaking loan shark that you're backing out of the deal).
22. not this American!
JennSilv ,   USA   (11.19.12)
This American doesn't support the attacks on Gaza at all and I wish my government would cease all financial and military support of Israel.
23. Israel
Al ,   Florida   (11.19.12)
A lot of people in the US think that killing women and children is wrong.
24. Occupation
Poetico ,   Las Vegas, Nevada   (11.19.12)
Baloney! Americans do NOT support the Israeli occupation and do NOT support the killing of innocent Palestinians trying to be free of Israeli invaders. GET OUT of Gaza and the West Bank!!!
25. #2 eason your wrong
jerome ,   basalt, colorado   (11.19.12)
the reason you are wrong is having ignorant, hateful foolish freinds! you should get educated friends that bring your intelligence level to above stupid!
26. sad only 57 % of the U.S. people are
jerome ,   basalt, colorado   (11.19.12)
educated and smart.
27. #2 - interested to know
Bob ,   London   (11.19.12)
what your alternative suggestion is. Please respond to me clearly as I am very interested to know. Thank you.
28. #1
Tomek ,   Poland   (11.19.12)
"57% of Americans believe Israeli military campaign against Gaza TERRORISTS justified". So, the poll should have asked if killing women and children in Gaza by Israel is justified. Even Americans, I hope, would vehemently object to that.
29. Stretch
Joe ,   Wisconsin USA   (11.19.12)
Quite a stretch to say "most Americans" from a poll of 1,023 Americans. Further, what useful information can we gather from this? None that I can see, unless you make decisions based on what the crowd thinks. With that said, why would CNN spend money conducting a poll for useless information? Simply because it allows them to report polling numbers rather than the atrocities that Israel has committed, is committing, and will continue to commit until the US ceases being its enabler. Which, sorry to say Israelis, is coming much sooner than you think. So make your beds however you'd like, Israelis, because shortly you and you alone will be laying in it. GLHF.
30. Article: Most Americans Support Israel's strikes in Gaza
Caroline Jennings ,   NY, USA   (11.19.12)
Most Americans I know - of all ethnic and religious backgrounds, including Jewish - DO NOT support Israel's strikes in Gaza. MANY Americans that the United States government allows Israel a free hand and unconditional financial support while Israel shows no regard for anyone but themselves. Most Americans I know feel helpless in light of this, that we are portrayed as blindly supporting Israel's determination to have the occupied territories at any cost. In the long-term, Israel's disregard for Palestine and all of their neighbors in the Middle East is not only bad for Palestine - it's devastating to Israel itself. If you were Palestinian, wouldn't you be angry?
