decades ago the british jewish elite was very pro-israel. look at the manchester jewish businessman who gave the financial foundation for the weizman institute. look at his family now. there are things i can not tell. what i can tell is that there is a jewish elite that is very wealthy and though it generally wears kid gloves with gentiles, with jews the gloves are off. now deeply established in british society, and able to contribute in a great many of ways, they have typical british class system attitudes to lower class british jews. israel is much more attractive to lower class british jews because it can and does give them opportunities and even class mobility that the jewish elite will not give in britain, (the cause of its popularity amongst certain british jewish classes). indeed i know of several examples of british companies that "trade" on their jewishness or jewish origins yet would rather employ british anti-semites than lower class british jews. perhaps a sociologist could give me a word for all of this but i am sure that this is what mr. murdoch alludes to.
