31. This will be worth it only if Israel addresses real issue
Mitch ,   USA/Israel   (11.21.12)
This truce is only worth it if the two sides are able to agree on Israel's right to exist. If not, this truce is just delaying a larger war in which Israel cannot be so kind and hesitant, and where Israel will have to ignore international pressure.
32. Lost opportunity
Danny ,   Canada   (11.21.12)
BB gave in to american pressure. He could have proven to the world, especially to Iran and the rest of the arab world that Israel doesn't play around. Israel could have finished off Hamas. We will be back here again shortly.
33. economic news
(11.21.12)
Good news on the economic front. The worldwide price of soap just fell with the reported discovery of an unexpected source of 6 million bars of soap, locally called "sabonim".
34. For those who pray
Devorah   (11.21.12)
Remember that Clinton, Morsi, Ashton, the EU, Obama, the UN and the entire world, are fighting against the G-d of Israel Himself by pushing this cease fire. The same holds true for the Israeli leadership. They have slapped G-d in the face. In Tanakh, G-d said to drive them out from among us. That holds true today the same as it did then. We have chosen world opinion instead of G-d's promise. This is an abomination to Hashem, and we will reap our just rewards. I have no pity for our leaders and will no longer defend them. They have sold out the land and the people, and they can all go to hell.
35. Iran is calling the shots...
Hila ,   USA   (11.21.12)
O won the US election by fraud. O lied about Benghazi. O has been setting up a "crescent" of Iranian/Moslem Brotherhood extremists in the Arab world. Now Hamas will regroup, become smarter about attacks, etc. I imagine Netanyahu is counting on Hamas breaking the "truce," and then... if not, then that was an incredibly bad decision and puts a lot of power in the hands of a phony US president who collaborates with Israel's enemies.
36. painfull blow and give truce a chance
marcel   (11.21.12)
barak has guaranteed that he won't be reelected to the knesset with his endless empty threats and painful blow which hamas mocks seriously. And for bibi to foist barak onto israel when he has been found wanting since 1999 means there will be a revolt in likud to dethrone bibi which I support. Ultimately israel will do a long term arrangment with hamas who are more honest compared to the rotten abbas and fatah. and hamas although they fight terribly dirty,t hey do resist any way they can using bestial methods and war rhetoric dripping in blood. But such arrangments needed to be done like the eygpt israeli war where israel went into gaza and flattened it like bennett proposed and chen also advocated. Hamas has fired plenty of rockets so they can claim they resisted. But they did not for a moment receive a painful blow as barak is disconnected from reality while bibi quakes in his boots and constantly caves in.
37. Deal
Steve Gure ,   coconut creek, fl   (11.21.12)
Israel has accomplished nothing. It has shown that it has no will and Hamas is shown as a definite winner. The only hope for Israel is a change in leadership. I am ashamed and discusted.
38. To @ 25: Iran, 'real players, '80 million with....'
Moshe Ben Abraham ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (11.21.12)
Firstly, Israel is using only a small fraction of its military might in the current operations in Gaza. Secondly and according to the UN, Iran ranks # 89 (despite all its oil wealth, what a shame) in the Human Development Index, whereas Israel ranks # 17. Population numbers are irrelevant when it comes to true and real power, both political and military (unless you're implying a land invasion by the Iranian army, which is non feasible); the kind of power we're talking about comes from knowledge, science, education, technology - and unless (G-d forbid) the Iranians achieve their nuclear goals, which it will not be allowed to happen, Israeli superiority is and will remain much stronger. Poorly educated, poorly fed, illiterate fellahin are not the proper soldier material.
39. Shame on you, Israeli government!
Max ,   Brooklyn,NY   (11.21.12)
The US Secretary of State and Egypt's Foreign Minister announce about the ceasefire. Shame on Israeli government!!! I just hope that the current ministers of the Israeli government will not be there after elections.
40. Same as before
Arie ,   BaNegev   (11.21.12)
Like in 2009, the Israeli leadership kept Tzahal from doing what it should do - destroy the terrorists and let them save face. This will be remembered in February. Netanyahu and Barak are cowards whose only real interest is their personal bank accounts. Time is coming for a drastic change
41. New rules now on
Jimi ,   Palestine   (11.21.12)
To all Israelis : you need to know the new rules, all Israel is under fire , no one is safe. This is what last war said. Read it, hear it, know it. So what is the best End occupation of palestine and back to 1967 borders, thats it, else Wait for the new area and be ready to the new rules where all of you and your kids and every Israeli life is not safe . Your politicians did that to you all over the years, and you were silly enough to believe that you are safe and untouchable. Think think think and act logically away from arrogance. You failed from HiZbollah and from Hamas So what about Iran , r u able Go to peace to be able to live
42. Hmm... Great Recession level of 10% of unemployment is pfff
Miron ,   USA   (11.21.12)
Territorial demands against Israel that is the sensation.
43. First Words From Hamas Will Be "We Won"
Ron ,   Seattle USA   (11.21.12)
No matter how badly they lose, they always claim they won.
44. Netanyahu, Barak fearful of American master
Sam ,   Canada   (11.21.12)
Netanyahu and Barak are more fearful of losing their welcome in the US than assuring Israeli security. So much for brave Israeli leaders.
45. Very well put, Devorah, #34.
Israeli 2   (11.21.12)
"In Tanakh, G-d said to drive them out from among us. That holds true today the same as it did then. We have chosen world opinion instead of G-d's promise." I only wonder who is better than these present cowards. We need a leader with strong Torah convictions willing to do what god asks of us to do.
46. Hamas is already replenishing their
Israeli 2   (11.21.12)
weapons yet Israel is proud to have done what she did. WHAT DID THEY DO? Hamas is still doing what they are. They understand that Israel has surrendered! ISRAEL DID SURRENDER! As I write this after the agreement took effect, missles are still raining on Israel. How did we win?
47. ceasefirs
sas ,   ashdod israel   (11.21.12)
just watching the news on t.v and saw three momkeys . see no evil. say no evil . hear no evil
48. Jerusalem Arabs already celebratnng V
AnotherJewishTragedy ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.21.12)
Fireworks are going off all around the Jewish neighborhoods of Jerusalem in celebration of "a Hamas Victory "
49. Idiocy !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.21.12)
50. Did Clinton demand Morsi stop weapons smuggling via Egypt?
Andrea ,   Israel   (11.21.12)
That would solve about everything, no?
51. at best a cynical strategy
dan ,   DC, USA   (11.21.12)
keeping hamas in power keeps the palestinians divided, prevents a final settlement and continues the status quo, which is the choice of netanyahu. removing hamas would result in fatah control of gaza and west bank and put pressure to negotiate a final agreement. in the meanwhile, the settler population balloons and israel annexes most of area C, leaving the palestinians with small segments of the west bank. however, if this truce lasts only a few weeks or a month, then we are back here again. but clearly the netanyahu strategy is to kick the ball down the road every few years until a fait accompli in the west bank. clever or crazy. who knows.
52. I think #5 said it all and nothing more needs to be said
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.21.12)
53. You and the Palestinians vote for the most extreme
jon ,   USA   (11.21.12)
and see what it gets you: more of young people blood. It is obvious that there is only one solution and that is 2 separate states. It will happen, it is just a matter of time, it just a question how much blood the most right extremist on both side decide to spill.
54. ceasefire HAHA!!
Hauna ,   Israel   (11.21.12)
does anyone believe this load of crap?? sirens just sounded twice in sderot after 9 pm LOL well be back in gaza within the next few hours
55. Arutz Sheva Already Reporting Hamas Did Not Cease Fire
emanon ,   USA   (11.21.12)
56. Most talk backs here are from out side Israel.
Israeli ,   Haifa   (11.21.12)
You don't understand a thing and you didn't read what Bibi said. He is giving it A TRY. If Hamas or any one shoots ONE rocket, he is going in with GREATER force. The IDF has achieved its objective: killed many Hamas and Jihad militants and leaders, and has taken out MUCH stockpiles weapons caches and launchers. The IDF had set Hamas back YEARS in their military might. And, they prooved their military is pathetic. Palestinian military used civilians and foreighn journalists for shields. Pathetic. Just wait. One shot, and the IDF will continue.
57. Now they let Rabbies to listen in the oval office?
jon ,   USA   (11.21.12)
58. disgust
yosef ,   usa - israel   (11.21.12)
The Israeli "government" was and is The Jewish State's worst enemy - a bunch of cowardly, spineless, diaspora minded egotists - it truly breaks my heart to have reached this tragic conclusion - they are now fulfilling the Biblical prophecy of the state's speedy demise.
59. When is the last ime you spoke to God?
jon ,   USA   (11.21.12)
60. I repeat dont open the border crossings
Rabbi Yakov Lazaros ,   USA   (11.21.12)
That would be the worst mistake for obvious reasons.
