1. the only victory gaza can claim as they
Barney ,   USA   (11.22.12)
try and rebuild their rubble which was once infrastructure is that Israel did not have the guts to follow through and finish the job. hamas has stated its goal. it is a mortal enemy. why stop when they are down for the count. Israel should have taken their infrastructure back a few centuries. their mentality is already there. i am an armchair warrior. maybe and i hope that the Israeli leadership knows something we don't. I would have turned gaza into a wasteland.
2. #1, Barney is correct.
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (11.22.12)
Only an Arab would claim victory when he was saved from being demolished completely by a full-scale Israeli invasion. These people are so stupid. There'll never be peace until Israel wins decisively and gains an unconditional surrender. Then even these stupid Palestinians will not be able to declare a "victory".
3. If Haniyeh Is The Only Person Left Alive, He Would Still...
Ron ,   Seattle USA   (11.22.12)
declare victory and dance in the streets.
4. Wait Til He Crawls Out Of His Hole And See Nothing
Ron ,   Seattle USA   (11.22.12)
5. wha?
freddie ,   USA   (11.22.12)
I have for sometime been impressed with the ability of so many Arab leaders to distort reality so that what is a bashing is turned by them into a major triumph. It is perhaps this inability to confront reality that leads them to further ruination of what could have been a bright future.
6. Hamas victory
John ,   Big Bear USA   (11.22.12)
Only Hamas is dumb enough to get their city blown up, their people killed and call it a victory. Too bad Israel didn't make it a glass parking lot.
7. What Else Do You Expect tHem To Say?
emanon ,   USA   (11.22.12)
"Oh dear, we really stepped in it, didn't we?" The thinking world already knows terrorstinians lie and make the truth suit their own agenda. Yes a cease fire was called, but Hamas got the worst of it. So naturally in arab speak it come out as "Israel agreed to our demands". This twisted reality will only encourage the terrorstinians to think they are invincible prompting them to press on with more military barrages against Israeli civilian centers. It will happen . . . again. it is only a matter of time. I have already said I expect the next Hamas attack before 10:00 PM (Israel Time) this Friday.
8. Just WHO has popped up?
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (11.22.12)
Hap Happy Haniyeh goes 'missing' having started the conflagration...amidst death and destruction then hey ho he magically suddenly reappears to claim a famous victory! Doesnt wash with the people of Gaza anymore Things in Gaza are going to change just as Winter is followed by SPRING And if Hamas doesnt meet Gazan aspirations and SEE THE WINDS OF CHANGE, stop corruption and stop these cycles of violence just to keep the blockade and tunnel taxes going...then Gaza and Hamas will be parting company
9. Gaza victory?
Mike ,   Israel   (11.22.12)
Our victory is that so few of our people died. Let the Gazans gloat. Maybe they will have the appetite to fire more rockets when it suits them. We'll see.
10. Of course Hamas won
Israeli   (11.22.12)
If they can fire 1500 missles in 8 days killing and wounding several Israelis, and all Israel does is retaliate against empty fields, empty buildings and empty tunnels because they're too scared of world opinion, can anyone in their right mind deny that Hamas won? Even Netanyahu, Barak and Gantz would have to admit that Hamas won again.
11. A long article full of Hamas propaganda.
Israeli ,   Haifa   (11.22.12)
Anti-tank missels were part of the cache that the IDF destroyed. Haniyeh can dance his shoes off. He has a bunch of dead military leaders, rubble of infrastructure to clear away, and most of the rockets he fired on Israel turned up "no injuries or damage", where his damage and injured are numerous. He can say all he wants, it doesn't make it true. We laugh at you Haniyeh.
12. Truce?
Quark ,   Riverside USA   (11.22.12)
How many truces have there been with these terrorists. It will only be a mater of time before the start lobbng rockets again. They won nothing. It shows Israel wants peace more than these low life subhumans do. I guaranty there will be a next time. What are they going t do when Israel must destroy Iran's nuclear weapons program. They will start lobbing rockets again. Just wait.
13. To #1 - A response to Barney -- Gaza
Sabientje ,   Utrecht, Netherlands   (11.22.12)
is already a wasteland. Therein lies the scum of the world, a concentration of heartless terrorists who hide behind shools, hospitals and residents' homes to launch attacks against Israel and who would sacrifice their own people to satisfy their nephastous interests. I just pray that Israel will continue to destroy their operations centers and that one by one, each of the Hamas leaders will be eliminated begining with Khaled Mashaal who is the head of the snake! Send all those Hamas operatives to Iran...they share the same mentality and hopefully they will also share the same fate of Ahmadinejad!
14. haniyeh
aryeh berkovich ,   oakland california   (11.22.12)
the extent of his putrescent evil is exceeded only by thecowardice he displayed by running to el arish while the bobmbs were falling. the leader of hamas is without gonads.
15. Haniyah is delusional if he believes himself
Chris ,   CA USA   (11.22.12)
I picture a nervous looking guy with soiled underpants making this statement - and I think the Gazans know he is lying. Hamas had better concentrate on stopping rocket fire. Not sure how Israel would react to one or two - Israel had been VERY patient - but ANY rocket fire will need to be dealt with by Hamas or Israel will deal with it again.
16. In relation to the cease fire.
Jeff ,   S.A.   (11.22.12)
I truly believe that we don't see the whole picture. I trust that our leaders had serious reason to choose this option of all alternatives. We have to do the right steps at the right time. It's preferable when our civilian population is better protected from these cruel and murderous rockets. Having more "iron domes" will give our home front and as a result our leaders an even longer breath to dismantle and defeat the murders and terrorists within Gaza. We should not forget that a ground invasion will be costly and many of our dear soldiers will lose their lives there. We are not able to deal with these losses. Actually we will never. Since we love our boys and girls in the IDF too much and have incredible value to the lives of our people. And yes, it hurts either way and we feel as if we have not exploited the opportunity to make an end to this. However, if we have now quiet for a couple of months, we have made the best out of it. To invade Gaza at a later stage will still not be too late. Then with hopefully better protection to our population. Let me mention one last thing. As long as it hurts, we show our true inside. That we love and suffer. This is the true pride of our people! Having depth, Neshama and simply being a "mensch" - a human being, a good soul...
17. remembrance of Cast Lead
Chris ,   CA USA   (11.22.12)
The effects of Cast Lead remain and it is still a deterrent. In addition, Israel has proven Iron Dome works (and got a chance to 'fine tune' the system). The big problem is Iran now owns Gaza (they bought it with long-range missiles).
18. what """victory"?
oded ,   usa   (11.22.12)
let's see- enormous distruction, 200+dead, jaabrui dead, tunnles distroyed, rockets and sender destroyed, but life as rat-priceless.
19. The arabs won all their wars for the past 100 years...
Andre ,   clichy, France   (11.22.12)
fine ! May they carry on with victories of that kind for another century or two. At that rate, pictures of arabs on donkeys will become symbols of past glory
20. Savages!
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (11.22.12)
Liars, Murderers, Rapists, Racists, Haters, Pederasts, Hypocrites..... Now these are the good qualities of the leaders of "Palestine". I don't have enough room to list the bad ones. Am Yisrael Chai!!!!! Hashem protect Israel from these vermin!
21. Chris CA USA
(11.22.12)
ISRAEL HAVE GOOD PLAN FOR THE MONKEY OF IRAN. IRAN WILL BE GONE.
22. This 'Hamas victory' takes the definition of deluded
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (11.22.12)
....to new heights
23. Haniyeh wins Darwin Award
Cynthia ,   USA   (11.22.12)
Resistance fighters crawled out from hiding to claim victory. They looked around to see the fruit of Israel's 1500 strikes, Gaza rubble redux. Self-praise for the cowardly act of firing Iranian missiles at Israeli civilians. Hamas is afraid of the IDF. While Haniyeh counts victory by dead Palestinians, Israel held back 75,000 troops to prevent harm to her soldiers. This terror attack was senseless. Whatever gains the Palestinians claim can disappear in a flash. They already broke the ceasefire. In the power play, Iran was marginalized and Egypt elevated.
24. Israel should adopt Churchill's WW II policies.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.22.12)
Churchill didn't care less about Germany civilian casualties. In fact, Churchill's policy was to make as many Germans homeless as possible to destroy their enthusiasm for Hitler. Churchill did what it took to win. Israel should adopt Churchill's WW II policies.
25. CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWISTED BIBI & OBAMA ROUND YOUR FINGER
ZIONIST FOREVER   (11.22.12)
Yes Hamas won this round undoubtedly. Hamas stood firm which is something Israel never does anymore, we just keep crossing our own red lines than drawing new ones which we eventually cross. Obama showed he is still the same man we were all introduced to in 2008 and the more pro Israel election campaign Obama has gone away. If Hamas won't compromise so Obama will support them and help get Bibi to accept them. Obama has his eyes on his precious peace process again try earn his Nobel Prize and he will pressure us into giving up Judea & Samaria and Jerusalem to the arabs along with the Golan to Syria just to show them he still loves Muslims. Bibi acted weak and didn't stand up to either Obama or Hamas and the result is the country is in even more of a mess now than it was before. Its cost us a fortune and Israelis have been killed. So congratulations where congratulations are due and Hamas have earned it.
26. EGYPT IS ISRAELS MASTER
LARRY ,   FORMER US ARMY VET   (11.22.12)
AS IT WAS 4,000 YEARS AGO .JEWS MUST BOW AND BEG EGYPT FOR PROTECTION AGAINST ANY FURTHER ARAB MISSILE. THIS IS THE END GAME OF A RESTRAINED ONCE PROUD IDF THANK YOUR LEADERS THANK CLINTON AND OBAMA , NOW YOU MUST LIVE ON YOUR KNEES THEN FIGHT ON YOUR FEET AS FEE MEN AND WOMAN. KICK THAT CRAP WEAK EUROPEAN GHETTO MINDED PRIME MINISTER OUT IN JANUARY.GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND STOP BEGGING FOR THE WORLD TO LIKE YOU .THEY HATE YOU IF YOUR ALIVE OR DEAD ANYWAY. POWER IS RESPECT IN YOUR PART OF THE WORLD . YOU KNOW THIS
27. #11 is a Very Accurate Assessment
ltrail ,   United States   (11.22.12)
The author of the article, Yonatan Gonen, apparently works for the Associated Press (AP); the hamas mouthpiece. But the best victory for hamas wasn't even mentioned in the article: Ahmed Jabari is dead. Hamas will get better and better as more hamas members die off.
28. sarah b
baba samir   (11.22.12)
Is Sarah B. - God forbid - sick ???May be she took a leave of absence?
29. Actually: the creep is rght! For them it was a victory...
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.22.12)
30. Psychotic Thinking By Hamas
Ross Gallen ,   Henderson, USA   (11.22.12)
Hamas and its leadership suffer from persecutory paranoia. They believe they are being plotted against, spied on, maligned, and harassed. They have repeatedly attempted to obtain justice by appealing to the United Nations and engaging in violence against Israel for their imagined grievances. The entire population of Gaza appears to be suffering from a delusional disorder arising out of a pre-existing population personality disorder. Unfortunately it is not possible to medicate the entire population with antipsychotic drugs in an attempt to shift their focus to a constructive channel.
