We've always known about the missile defense system in the works. But I think that Raytheon leaked the fact of the test, not Israel.

Why not just eradicate the source of the attacks? The next time the Hamas psychopaths let loose rockets, REALLY return the fire and make it hurt. And even if really - really needed, which is really a fantasy scenario, can be easily filled with purchase of appropriate hardware from Russians at a price Israel will never be able to approach with own production.

Israel press releases are not a factor. These projects are well identified as contracts are let with many companies US and Israel. Folks though are reluctant to give credit to current US administration which has worked more closely with Israel than any other, including both Bush's who were in bed with the Saudis. Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran are on notice. They have been given a reprieve which they can use intelligently or to their suffering. Let Hamas carry on as they may, yet they got their noses bloodied and may think twice. Israel will loosen the noose on Gaza if they behave. ...I think what is meant here is 1 million per missile launcher which can launch many missiles. It simply does not make sense that a single missile would cost 1 million dollars unless it carries extremely expensive guiding electronics.

Hamas is getting more international support and more advanced weapons, therefore we are being forced into the end game. Hamas and company have made it clear as day, they never want peace or any type of co-existance, so either buy the land off them and send them packing or take them out the next time they attack, once and for all. But don't risk our lives or our beloved country with "new toys". I appreciate the value of Iron dome but its a dead end strategy. Even if we improve the Iron dome technology to 100% accuracy, living under an Iron Dome is NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! The world will accuse Israel of blood libel/ war crimes/disproportional force no matter what we do, so its time we choose our fate before its chosen for us. Shalom

I agree 100% we should be willing to buy weapons from places like Russia if they do the job for the right price. Its like we are scared by the very idea buying anything thats not either domestic or American, maybe it will turn round and kill us. Davids Sling was originally designed to replace the Hawk missiles but then some geniuses got the idea it should be developed to shoot down Hezbollah rockets. Cost don't matter only their vision although if a soldier wants basics for their protection cost is a big issue.. In Lebanon reserves were having to buy their own body armor because the army didn't buy enough. Trophy was avalible before Lebanon, the Americans were even considering buying it for their tanks in Iraq but the IDF money managers decided against spending abit extra to protect their expensive tanks. To replace their decades old foreign tank conversions the IDF developed its first dedicated APC, the Namer. Based on a Merkava hull & built in the US to be funded by military aid the IDF has now decided to save money cut the number of APCS planned & continue to use conversions if we are short of Namers. Just get all the priorities wrong these days and the success of Iron Dome will only increase that attitude of cost is of no matter when it comes to missile defense and the army will make cutbacks elsewhere to fund it.
