One way might be that the UN act collectively as Guarantors of every countries integrity and act collectively to stop inter state aggression
The nearest we came to this was the US led counter attack of Saddam Hussein to free Kuwait
But it doesnt address internal civil wars...
2. Oslo and Peace
Great joke. Like Oslo worked for peace for Israel so will this delusional assumption work for the world. I guess the assumed that all Muslim will commit suicide!
3. #2 or
pax islamica when the Middle East is clean of Christians, Jews, Shia and Kurds there will be fewer wars
4. there will be no "Israel" by 2050
5. Norwegian universities are not known..
to produce some valuable studies.
Norwegian universities are far down on every listing when rating has ben done.
Let us expect there will be many MORE wars around the world, and islamic followers will be a part in 90%.
Beary White ,
6. Assuming future wars will be between countries
The assumption here is that wars will be fought between countries, as opposed to that between groups within a country, and ideologies which have no country. Consequently, we can expect more Internal strife. We are already seeing regions within countries calling for more autonomy, and unless central givernments provide this, then the risk of armed conflict increases. Once again, the fault lies with outmoded international law.
7. Study Ignores Islamic Jihad Against the West
This is no secret. Jihad against the West is a fundamental Islamic belief.
Thank G-d Israel will be around to stop its takeover of the Middle East.
Sorry Salma, we are here to stay!
8. Salma et al.
Just like Toynbee could not explain the tenacity of the Jewish people, neither can the Norwegian scholars. We are outside of every exiting historical equation. Eat your cold and empty hearts out.
9. to #4 Salma
You can continue saying it, no problem but in the mean time we're living it.
keep dreaming lol
Build baby build! ,
10. #7 please stay in Canada.
no one asks u to leave !!
11. Norway can't even...
make peace with the Jews and Israel, so their prophecy is pretty hollow!
12. Middle East in peace and security, what a dream!
It never existed, but let's hope for it. Let's have a dream on Jews and Arabs living together or as neighbors, cooperating, bringing prosperity to the region. Why will I need to go for a vacation anywhere else than the Middle East by 2050? Really, I can't wait already now.
13. Perceptive: It will then be Greater Israel
Because the Lord spoke and Jews believe the Lord keeps is covenant
and you will be depending on it for food, medicine and a basic level of education.
Oil will have no market, renewables will be around as the norm
14. The 3rd World War -
-The Great and Terrible Day of the LORD,
as according to the Word of HASHEM in Ezekiel chapter 38-39,
is no farther away than 5 Years aproximately..
15. 26 of 44 Armed Conflicts Involve Muslims
26 (59%) of the 44 armed conflicts currently in the world involve Muslims on at least one side of the conflict. Only 1 involves Jews.
The assumption must be that by 2050, the Muslims finally realize their struggle is pointless and destructive or that by then they will have been defeated soundly. Either way, it is encouraging. Unbelievable. But an encouraging dream.
16. Salma. Salma. Salma.
I see that you put Israel in double quotes. That is very optimistic of you to believe that by 2050, everyone will recognize Israel and will finally remove the double quotes. Thanks for the encouragement. Do you suppose that by 2050 The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will finally give you back your 3/4 of the Palestine Mandate? Could be sooner than you think. Good luck with that.
Seth Greenberg ,
17. Wishful thinking with a pinch of Orwellian propaganda.
The "peace" we've experienced since WW2, is due to global domination by a small group of countries, backed by the British-created world government known as the UN.
The world is waking up to the fact that the UN will never bring world peace, and that the members of its security council are power hungry empires who seek to dominate every last inch of the globe.
These past 60 years will go down in history as a misleading calm before a massive storm.
There will only be peace when countries start cooperating on a bilateral level. Imposed "peace" is a temporary band-aid that is bound to disintegrate with time.
18. I don't think input parameters are logical.
Foreign troops in countries... peace?
It's like a man considered "healthy enough not to have a flu" with a knife in his belly.
It sounds to me Breivik Brotherhood is planning to re - conquer the world. And an ultimatum attached "it you don't let us do it, you will be very sorry"
19. What if number of countries increase?
40 years ago, there were only 169. Today, there are about 193. At that rate, and the increased push for independence by so many others groups, that number could exceed 220 making 7% a larger number than today's predictions.
Expect the greatest number of conflicts to center around the newly independent nations which will be re-born after the 19th, 20th century colonialism which push smaller nations into one larger one. I expect to see the Arab world basically implode and return to tribal fiefdoms.
20. #4 - they predicted Israel would be gone by 1950
and well...look at us now. A military and technology powerhouse with a milti-cultural democracy smack in the middle of a homogeneous, despotic part of the world. Delicious!
My prediction for 2050 is Israel will be stronger and even more relevant as Arab nations splinter left and right along tribal lines and in-fighting.
The Kurds will take independence, the Shiites will split from the Sunnis, Lebanon will become a patch work of mini-States, Iraq will split into historical regions, and thanks to radicalism among Muslims, Egypt may lose its statues and thus its own history and possibly split Nubian-Arab. The Bedouin will try to create their own autonomous areas, especially in the Sinai where they see themselves as true Arabs.
And, they ALL will fight on who wants the bastard children, the "Palestinians".
If the Pallys play this right and turn to building a real State in peace - since they already have the 2nd highest literacy and life expectancy rates in the Arab world - they can make themselves immune to the future upheavals. Or they can choose to be lazy, avoid real work, and just try to destroy Israel will will continue to fail.
21. #10 - equally, Arabs can stay in Middle East
and stop invading Western countries and forcing their backward mentality and mannerisms on the host population.
22. #10 - Israel is a sovereign country
and with it, we have the right to set rules of immigration.
We welcome Eric and many others to the Land of Milk and Honey that is Israel. And you're not going to stop it.
23. #15 - is that directly or indirectly?
I believe the number would be much higher if you counted conflicts where Muslims were indirectly involved, like that in the Northwest of China.
24. #16 - Israel is a member State
conversely, "Palestine" was judged by the ICJ to not be recognized as sovereign by anyone.
So who really deserves the quotes?
25. what about the unexpected statistics don't consider
If we had these statistics in 1914 would they have taken into account some royal would be assassinated and it would have led to a world war?
The Arab winter took the whole world by surprise.
On minute business as usual in the arab world, next thing you know th dictators are falling like dominos.
You can predict things like war in Africa or wars being started by the likes of Saddam Hussain.
You can never though predict human nature and that is what makes wars not tanks and jets.
We must never assume we are past the age of war and stop arming ourselves because if we do that because we assumed there wouldn't be another war and we were taken by surprise we would lose and be killed.
26. Wish I could have any confidence in this study
But it really seems to commit many egregious statistical sins (isn't it more likely that infant mortality is high because a country is at war, rather than the other way around, as the study's assumptions suggest?) does not account for a number of emerging negative trends (scarcety/high cost of food, radicalization both in the developing and developed worlds, etc.) and ends up pulling its conclusions out of thin air. As much as I would love it to be true, and even overestimation (hey, why not 4%, or 1%, or even 0?), my own views are much less optimistic.
27. This whole thing is a wish wash wash with no roots
India as had lots of conflicts with Pakistan since the day it declared independence and it is now becoming an economic and military power so I stands to reason eventually they will go to war.
Uganda, Sudan etc have been a mess for years so again natural to expect war to break out.
The idea Syria war will still be ongoing 5 years from now you don't have to be Einstein to work out that will last 5 months rather than years.
Casualties of war are dropping again pretty obvious, as technology changes so casualty rate drops been going on that way for thousands of years.
So that means nothing.
UN peacekeepers don't these idiots understand peace keepers are sent in after th war not in advance.
This whole report is based on 2012 politics not probable 2050 politics and some of it is pure nonsense twisted so it sounds good.
Never read such a stupid report before.
28. Salma @4: jealous much? ;)
29. When Moshiah will come, there will...
be world peace.
30. Next war
The future war will be not between Israel & the Arabs, but will be between the White Christians Europeans and the Muslims/Islamic Immigrants. The late British MP ENOCH POWELL was 100% right when he said RIVER OF BLOOD, but this time will be between the European White Christian and Islam
