1. Fear- why?
Jacob   (11.27.12)
The brutally palpable fear of the Israelis (and to a lesser degree the Americans) to the PA's upcoming recognition in the UN is puzzling. Why so afraid? If both say that the 2-state solution via negotiations is the 'end-game' and this will speed up the process (which is obviously stagnant and not going to change), why the terror at this move and why are there so many statements about 'punitive measures' and 'retaliation' for taking this to the UN? I understand the naked fear of being taken to the ICC, but beyond that issue, why is the government so fearful about the imminent passage of this proposal?
2. Why dont the French recognize a Kurdish state
Ken Jurist   (11.27.12)
Why dont the French recognize a Kurdish state in Iraqi Kurdistan? I'll give you a clue. Arab oil money?
3. Any chance US will try to look into 10% unemployment?
Miron ,   USA   (11.28.12)
I am kind of tired of English speaking press talking about Israel... our biggest trouble of all, eh? It's not like Israelis milk 1.5 times ours per cow milk. Have 5-6% unemployment rate. And grow more produce per farmer than anybody else in the world. Perhaps instead of what France thinks about Israel Hillary might bring in a few farmers to learn how Israelis grow all this staff in a desert? Better than we do while at it.
4. France's action
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (11.28.12)
France is taking a most correct and far-seeing action. In the not-too-distant future, Palestine will be the political state that will comprise the entire former British Mandate territory. Meanwhile, the US will be left behind, holding the bag.
5. The Whole Is Going To Recognise Palestine ....
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.28.12)
Except The Americans. Why? Because their leaders are slaves to Jewish money and stuck in a time warp of Cold War logic. Israel is now a liability to the Americans. The sooner the Americans realise this the better off they will be. In the not so far future the USA will be in complete economic decline and in this dark time their eyes will begin to see. The result will not be pretty.
6. Why fear it?
James ,   USA   (11.28.12)
I'll tell you why--because a fair 2-state solution to conflict was never in the cards. The U.S. and Israel have spent years dragging their feet on final resolution of the conflict all the while Israel creates more and more facts on the ground. This was the plan for the next 20 years. Too bad the PA is fed up and has decided to take matters into their own hands.
7. Wrong
Salomon ,   Brazil   (11.28.12)
The Arabs of theWest bank of the Jordan, have no port, no currency (they use the israeli shekel), they live only on donations from Europe, US and very few money from Arab states. There is no border between a presumed Arab state and Israel, since there has never been a state or a nation called Palestine... The recognition will surely lead to new confrontations that will make the life of the mob miserable
8. Wrong
Salomon ,   Brazil   (11.28.12)
The Arabs of the West bank of the Jordan, have no port, no currency (they use the israeli shekel), they live only on donations from Europe, US and very few money from Arab states. They are lazy and inventiveless. There is no border between a presumed Arab state and Israel, since there has never been a state or a nation called Palestine (it is only a geographic region that includes Jordan and Israel as well)... The recognition will surely lead to new confrontations that will make the life of the mob miserable
9. ...and I recognise the independence of
y-man ,   Budapest   (11.28.12)
1. Euzkadi (both from Spain and from France) 2. Breizh from France 3. Elsaß from France 4. the Arab Caliphate of Paris & Marseille.
10. We're focused on a policy objective on the ground
A Bethlehemite   (11.28.12)
This what State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said. I think we've seen enough one way expansion on the ground that the Pals need to put an end to the future aphartied-like living in enclaves/prisons that are supposed to be towns/cities. The US vetoed the UNSC with regards to the illegal settlment. Time for a new approach.
11. To France: Mind Your Own Business
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (11.28.12)
There is no solution to the conflict, certainly not 2 states or 1. Palestine exists, to the East, its called Jordan, most of the British Mandate for Palestine. Lets bring in history, which theArabs do wnen convenient. (They refused 2 states recall?)/. TheBalvour gave we Jews a homeland in Palestine...as long as Arab rights were not abused. 3 Wars later, and the Arabs conveniently forget history and THEIR actions. Now, UN 242 is being violated, re: land, borders and refugeees with Abbas move and affirmation by France, etc.Frances 6m Muslims vs `1m Jews, its trade and oil contracts, and race (Muslim) card, is being played, not the illegal bid by Abbas France says. but negotiations are relevant.. why, once a state is created? Abbas says, will talk to we Jews, after new Palestine is a fact. Why bother?Whats to talk about, borders? One ans is for Arab territories to become autonomous, with some Israeli control over security for the area. And what if another state is created...what will Israel's attitude be? Will it just lie downandcryor call up itsreserves, as it partially did 3 weeks ago? If the UN votes positive ( UNSC) Israel should annex part of the W.Bk..then let Hamas,Fatah take the IDF on. My advice to Abbas, talk now..then assume a state that satisfied both sides, no war. Create a state now, and assume a war, that you cannot win.with or w/o Hez,Egypt and Iran.BTW if annexed, Israel should remove the Arabs, no more 5th columns needed. France has bigger problems than this.
12. Unbelieveable! most of first 5 posters agree with France?
mary_of_bethany ,   singapore   (11.28.12)
ok, since everybody thinks Israel is the root problem why ME peace talk a dead-lock. then everybody naturally think bypass Israel and declare Palestinian their Statehood the easiest route. Naive! now i understand why the french are the easiest target for Islamization of the West. Happy mixed marriage to the arabs, Paris! even if you remove Israel from ME, the arabs occupy the whole of "Palestine", they will fight among themselves, even if you raise up one good uncorrupted leader, by the next generation, you will breed a new corrupted one, or end up in radical Islamic terrorist group's hand. give them a state recognized by UN, you will find Hamas kicking out Abbas and the terrorists take over West bank and E Jerusalem. don't believe me, come back to this site and talk in 5 years time,... if ever UN recognize Pals.
13. Oh please
Steve from Raleigh   (11.28.12)
Not even the Israelis believe Hillary Clinton.
14. #4 Your post is just your wishful thinking, graczekele
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (11.28.12)
Denying Israel's right to exist and hating us is your life blood.... ..and hence your posts are pie in the sky.
15. #5I'm an Atheist and I don't believe in anything unrealistic
Avan   (11.28.12)
But sometimes when I see the facts, I come to conclusions that in fact the quote that says " Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed and whoever curses Israel will be cursed " is true. Look at the countries that are growing more Anti-Israel everyday... Look what's happening to them... Look at Spain, France, or EU in general... Their Power, Prosperity, Economy is falling in an equal way with the fall of their support for Israel.
16. So what? It's not going to change anything on the ground
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.28.12)
17. These always get the Jew-hater hopes up
BH ,   Iowa   (11.28.12)
only to fizzle out. Israel cannot be stolen or swindled, and it cannot be defeated.
18. EU is #1 culprit in Israel's demise.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (11.28.12)
EU & Britain have been perpetrating Heil salutes at the UN the past 60 years - Islamists could never succeed without their backing. Europe corrupted the Balfour, demands serial 2-states in the same land every 60 years and transferred the name Palestinian from Jews to those panting for another H. Rocket science what it means. Same devil is not Eurabia.
19. Why not a Coptic State in East Egypt?
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (11.28.12)
20. France Voting Yea to UN Bid
ltrail ,   United States   (11.28.12)
France has become muslim kingdom, West. Who can be surprised at the way they are voting for this worthless UN vote?
21. Palestine
ltrail ,   United States   (11.28.12)
I've always recognised Palestine. It is the land of the Jews, the State of Israel. From childhood, I've viewed maps and history books with Palestine: the Jewish land. Nothing new.
22. Start fighting Back
Bill Klien ,   USA   (11.28.12)
Time for Israel to annex area C and low populated areas of Area B. The French consulate and any other country's consulate that votes for this resolution should be closed.
23. to 4 and 5
Barney ,   USA   (11.28.12)
left behind from what? the glories of syria, the peace of egypt, the fermenting civil war in lebanon, the brutalizing of the population in iran, the blowing up of school girls in afghanistan and pakistan, the murder in sudan, the liberties and freedom of the saudis, the backward slide of turkey? leave us behind please and let us stand with Israel
24. incidentally
Barney ,   USA   (11.28.12)
a "palestine" will just add to the whole list of atrocities called countries in my other post. didn't you just love the picture of gazans dragging the dead bodies of their brothers through the streets behind motorcycles? gay people hanging from cranes in iran. warms the cockles of your heart doesn't it?
25. #1 - lots of why's
Eyal ,   USA Israel   (11.28.12)
Israel is not scared, but I will tell you; the Palestinians seem to want to skip the whole process of negotiating with Israel and instead punish Israel for anything that's beyond the 67 lines. If not, they will take Israel to the ICC courts. The problem is Jerusalem will never be split, it is Jewish and always have been Jewish, yet the International community seem to think otherwise, although it is written in stone. This is called OIL money talking, so back to your questions of why's, Israel is not scared, they are just in dismay how the Palestinians miss every opportunity that's thrown at them. I will tell you what will happen at the end, Israel will end up annexing all the territories and the Oslo peace agreements will be void and frankly, I don't think the Palestinians really deserve a state.
26. To 5. Not quite alone
Allan ,   New York, America   (11.28.12)
Israel is not quite alone yet, three nations have gone on the record as promising to vote no - the USA, Canada & the Czech Republic. So even if the other 190 nations vote yes or abastain as the UK and Germany look set to do, Israel still has a last few allies left.
27. #1. The Fear of the ICC
Allan ,   New York, America   (11.28.12)
Bibi: "Why is it so hard to prove to the ICC that Israel is innocent of the crimes the palestinians accuse us of?" His lawyer: "Because we are guilty".
28. @5 YOU FORGOT TO MENTION the saudis money
dovdevan ,   ashdod,paris   (11.28.12)
i hope that the american will soon realize that kissing up the saudis for oil won't bring them peace in the world even the US doesn't back israel the US will be hate for what it represent not for her backing of israel !! stupid comment cityzen of the world
29. 4
zionist forever   (11.28.12)
Really ? I heard that Palestine will be the political state that will compromise the entire Untied States. In his first couple of years as president Hamas called Obama Abu Hussain. We all know of course Obama is a Musllim, he is the first president of Palestine, isn't that right Mr Palestinian President?
30. Of course France will vote oui.
shreff ,   milwaukee   (11.28.12)
Suha has come to the end of the only bank account that Yassir left her, and she has come up with a great plan. She sniffs his underwear, and says "this definitely smells like Polonium to me." Smelling bonanza, Inspector Clouseau leaps into action, digs up the old coot behind blue tarps, so nobody can see, and laces the rancid meat with who knows what, just in time for Abbas to swear that his first job as a new state is to go after who put the who knows what in the rang a tang ting ting, ba bop ba bop. I remember when the study of civilization was an awesome and uplifting experience. And France was among the best. What the hell happened?
