I know they have financial problems. How are they staying solvent? Do they have a rich uncle in saudi arabia or Gaza?

Remembering the 1st operational anti missle system used in the Gulf war. That system did not work as advertised. No doubt Israels system is an improvement. One thing that has not changed since the time of the V1 is that it is far less costly for the shooter than the interceptor. Israel needs a few thousand cheap rockets to fire back at Gaza.

That not every flash means a missile has been intercepted...was that the basis of his argument?? The iron dome can shoot several projectiles to intercept a single rocket. Those flashes are not counted as interceptions, he should know that.

But in this case, I am sure, a controlled test can be performed that will verify the degree of Iron Dome's accuracy. Naturally, Israel will agree Americans perform the test independently and both parties review the results together. According to the CEO of the company that developed the brains behind Iron Dome's missile interception system the Americans at first said the systems couldn’t work. Draw your own conclusions! And if the interception rate wasn't as high as claimed and the number of rockets fired was as many as the pals say then the damage to many of Israel's towns and cities would have been far greater than it was. The success of Iron Dome just goes to show how cutting edge Israeli technology is and the interception rate will only get better as the system is improved further.

All it means is that of the 1400 rockets Hamas launched into Israel, Israel only activated the Iron Dome system with 400 and successful hit 340 of them. As we now know most of the other 1000 missiles (if there really were 1000 missiles) fell in unoccupied areas.

Whilst Iron Dome is effective it is possible its effectivness was overly hyped during the operation not because they were thinking about potential exports but rather moral. In 1991 whan Saddam Hussain was firing Scuds when the Petriots arrived they were treated like Iron Dome is today despite the fact theat it never managed to shoot down a single Scud. At that time Patriot was developed as an anti aircraft system not an anti missile one which current versions are. It is possible the success rate was hyped up for moral purposes but I don't think the hype was to high considering the number of rockets Hamas fired and the property damage was nothing like as bad as it would have been if Iron Dome didn't work.

Statistics are not based on how many rockets were fired but how many were successfully shot down. If attempts had been made to shoot down all 1400 rockets all it would mean is more rockets would have been targeted but the basic 85% statistic would be based on a larger number of shots. Even though it was only used to try shoot down 400 rockets rather than 1400 there is no denying that 340 is a substantial number of kills. The thing we must make sure of now is we start looking to Iron Dome as the great protector because Iron Dome doesn't win wars offensive operations do and so when deciding how to spend the annual budget we mustn't neglect weaponry so we can buy lots of Iron Dome batteries.

Not long after the truce had been announced SKY NEWS did an article all about the poor old Gazans and were saying how many were taking shelter in schools. There were some kids drawing picture on the black board and the reporters asked what they were drawing and the kids said its iron dome and we want one. What better endorsement can the system have than Gazans wanting one? Certainly must have infuriated Hamas considering the bulk of their rockets were being shot down whilst israel was bombing the hell out of them.
