Clinton urges Israel to aid Abbas    Yitzhak Benhorin
1. Did Israel come out the winner?
Yesterday I wrote on Facebook, "much ado about nothing?". But when I did so I was viewing the UN resolution with respect to whether the Palestinians gained much from it; and in my opinion they didn't. After Israel's announcement to not only build 3,000 homes in and beyond the green line but to also build between Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim, I reviewed the UN resolution from Israel's perspective. And maybe there is "much ado about something". Since around 1970 every Israel government wanted to build between Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim but felt unable to do so, and especially after signing the Oslo Accords in 1993. It would appear that Israel now sees the Oslo accords as negated and therefore has the right, reason or excuse, depending on how you look at it, to build in the above mentioned areas. Bibi is probably in favor, but I sense that Lieberman was the instigator, and although there are very many smart people in the Israeli government, Lieberman is probably the smartest.

2. Israelis, you didn't get the message...
Never will the Palestinian people act as punching bag, with our children being butchered by the thousands - at no cost to Israel. The occupation is going to start costing you dearly. As Hanan Ashrawi said in the Press conference, we will start playing ball. Prepare for legal and military warfare until Palestine is free of the illegal, colonial Israeli occupation.
Lynx ,   Palestine   (12.01.12)
3. Aid Abbas as being committed to peace?
He stood in front of the United Nothings, that would have been the perfect time to say, "we will live in peace and cooperation alongside our Israeli neighbors." But he can never say that because the words will choke him. The only thing Abbas is committed to is stealing his handout money from the US, EU, Israel, etc. and the destruction of Israel, even if he does it with more diplomacy and less violence. The man is a farce and a liar, but he at least deserves credit for fooling almost the whole world.

4. Bimbo !.

5. #2 - kids butchered by the thousands?
You know the comment is nonsense. And if you don't want civilians to die then tell Hamas to move their rockets out of schools, hospitals and homes. You know the above is true!
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (12.01.12)
6. Israel is not Obama's whore
Devorah   (12.01.12)
7. Once a terrorist, forever a terrorist!
"America willing to work with Islamist... we will never work with terrorists"... truth is hamas will forever remain as terrrorist in their blood even if they act as moderate Islamist to fool UN temporary. "... If it (Hamas) wishes to reunite the Palestinians and join the international community it must reject violence, honor past agreements with Israel and recognize Israel's right to exist." problem is fatah can never kick out hamas at all, Gaza will NEVER be led by the "legitimate rep.", and finally we will face a 3 states solutions, with Israel has to appease 2 different palestinians states, giving up more lands and never have peace.

8. #2 They got the message
1,822 missiles were fired at Israel from Gaza since the beginning of the year. Save your whining because the missiles were aimed at Israeli children. Your terror is costing YOU dearly. Israel keeps trying to detach from the clinging Palestinians. The PA can't even pay salaries without Israel and your labor market depends on Israel. The "colonial Israeli occupation" is your excuse for failure. Never say never. We just witnessed Iran use the Palestinians as their proxy punching bags and the Palestinians thanked them for this golden opportunity.

9. What a clown clinton is !
Moshe ,   Usa   (12.01.12)
10. This was a calculated move by Mr. Abbas
Palestine is now a sovereign State according to International Treaty Law (Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States) and International Customary Law. Mr. Abbas will now freely contract with those States that recognised it to purchase arms and also apply to the International Court of Justice for violations of its sovereignty. No matter how one tries to play this down, the fact remains that over 100 UN Members States have made their intentions clear.
Ibrahim ,   Turkey   (12.01.12)
11. Israel needs to help those committed to peace
Unfortunately, Abbas is not one of them.

Butros ,   London, england   (12.01.12)
14. Netanyahu And Lieberman guilty
You stand here at the international criminal court on charges of theft of Palestinian land. You are also charged with crimes against humanity and the mass slaughter of Palestinians. The list goes on and on.... Can't wait to see these 2 picking up the soap when they're in prison.
Butros ,   London, engkand   (12.01.12)
15. Save Israel from Netanyahu and Lieberman
This is a plea to right minded Israelis. Do not vote these 2 morons into office. They are leading Israel down a path of destruction These 2 idiots are intent in destroying your country. Vote them out of office. 2 state solution now.!
Butros ,   London, england   (12.01.12)
16. Long live the new palestinian state !
Palestine belonged for 400 years to the Damascus vilayet. So in the Ottoman Empire there was no difference between Syria and Palestine. Nowadays we are witnessing the end of what is called Syria. In the south Hauran province, with the city of Dera started the civil war against the Assad regime. Hauran must unite with north Jordan, nortern parts of West Bank and the cities of Jericho and Hebron and here is the new palestinian state. A perfect solution, south Jordan remain for Abdullah settlements will be untouched and Jerusalem will be united as the capital of Israel. Please nominate me for the next Nobel Peace Prize.

22. @2
Dear Lynx, Keep dreaming. The forces of international politics may be changing, but it doesn't mean they're changing in the way you think. Israeli exports to India and China are increasing. India's and China's importance in world politics keeps growing. India and China are Israel's natural allies. It's just that these ties need to be cultivated and need to ripen. So far, it seems, Palestinians have been doing precisely that - turning their children into punching bags. Year after year, decade after decade. It's very sad to watch, but there it is.
Amerikaner Yid ,   USA   (12.01.12)
23. abu mazen, abbas or by any other name
is a genociadla mass murdering extortionist and shoa denier, but billary sez never you mind he funded terror before and after the munich massacre that to this day chokes him up with pride that the world now recognizes too as his greatest and most endearing feat. may his and her names be blotted out
monika ,   Silver Springs   (12.01.12)
24. #10 Palestine does not meet the Montevideo Convention
To be a state the PA needs to meet this first requirement: The state as a person of international law should possess the following qualifications: a ) a permanent population; b ) a defined territory; c ) government; and d) capacity to enter into relations with the other states. Ignoring the fact that they fail to meet the second item in terms of defined territory (they still need to negotiate boarders), they fail to meet the third item. The PA does not have a government, it has 2 separate governments (PA and Hamas) that both have exceeded their terms of office by more than 2 years. Until Abbas can go to Gaza and they can hold unification elections they are not a state regardless of what the UN GA says.

26. In the medieval ages
many henchmen expected from the death sentenced person to help his work. Don't move while beeing beheaded. Clinton wants the same from Israel. Not a perfect example, because however Abbas is a henchman, but Israel will live forever.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (12.01.12)
27. Shame on you-Hillary
Why does Hillary & the rest EU countries have to advise just Israel? Why don't they do the same with all the Arab countries instead? Why don't the CIA or even the FBI ever check Abbas's pesonal account? The world will only then reaiise with whom they are dealing with. A Liar, Liar and just a Crook.
