4. France lost the right to tell Israel anything
Pro Israel ,   NY USA   (12.02.12)
but the French government is still laboring under the delusion that they have the right to tell us what to do.
5. Germany stands by Israel...
Pro Israel ,   NY, USA   (12.02.12)
That's why Germany abstained on the UN resolution on Palestine this week. Germany cannot be trusted or relied upon. They say they are for us, but they act against us.
6. Merkel: Germany stands by Israel on security
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (12.02.12)
William Hague apparently wants to see Jerusalem divided. Does he not realize that Hamas or the Salfists will eventually control whatever territory the PA gets? Imagine sharing a capital with either of them. The PA is finished and everybody knows it.
7. False Platitudes!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (12.02.12)
The clowns' smile, while they, gently, stab Israel in the back! How can one trust a country that killed six-million people; it's in their Germanic heritage (which is hatred of the Jews), along with many other countries' (just look at the UN!). Godless FOOLS!!!
8. After these votes, why should Israel pay heed to their words
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (12.02.12)
They've shown where they stand, and it's not with Israel.
9. Israel stabbed 'US' in the back along with all those
Edithann ,   USA   (12.02.12)
who voted against and those who abstained....Israel has proven in spades, that there is no such thing as anti-Semitism...it's just a noted fact that Jews have had a 2000 year old reputation of never being trusted or trustworthy..and Israel has confirmed it today!!!.. ..They're too busy thinking their so great, they forget that others will remember their betrayal...No matter what excuses you give now, they wont exonerate you for you're bold face petulant betrayal... TATA. .
10. Eurostan
Mike ,   Australia   (12.02.12)
Another pathetic attempt by those European Islamic countries to try to pacify the unpacifiable terrorists from Arabia. London, Paris, Berlin - all cities lost to Eurostan. These countries should stop pretending they're important to the rest of the world. They're relevance has diminished to such a degree that it is now pathetic. To clean up your own back yards before Sharia law comes your way! Thank god I live in a country surrounded by water. Sharia law can drown as it tries to come here. The sharks are hungry.
11. The road to doom...
Chris.B ,   Australia   (12.02.12)
will always be achieved in haste and Israel is heading full steam ahead. There has never been any intention for a viable peace plan only delay tactics so more land can be stolen from the indigenous Palestinians. As for other countries protecting Israel what kind of sick joke is this??? Even with all the weapons in the world Israel needs to be protected??? From its own suicidal leaders maybe. lol If any nut bag wants to rewrite history and delude themselves about the wars the Arabs waged against Israel or the fair peace deal offered to the Palestinians go and knock yourself out!!!!!!!!!!!
12. Lip service and a knife in the back
Jerom ,   NY   (12.02.12)
See how politics stinks. Western states easily give to the Arabs on Israeli expense. David Ben Gurion; "it is not important what the Goim say, it is important what Israel does. "
13. Very telling...
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (12.02.12)
The UK is hopelessly unaware of the situation - "...the response undermines peace efforts..." NO, the vote to recognize "Palestine" in any way without making them negotiate undermined peace efforts. And then this gem - "...with Jerusalem as a shared capital..." - Uh...NO. ESPECIALLY not now that they've acted unilaterally and shot weapons into Jerusalem less than 2 weeks ago. No, I say peace efforts & any hope of "Palestinian Jerusalem" is completely gone.
14. UN Vote and "settlements"
Stan ,   Sydney, Australia   (12.02.12)
I am also very upset that Israel is building 3,000 new homes in the reclained areas -- it should be 30,000.
15. France and the UK can go straight to hell
jack bauer   (12.02.12)
firstly it was the british who gave what is now called jordan to the hashemites although it was part of the mandate, all of which was to be given to jewish repatriates. The people that live in jordan are the same as those who call themselves "palestinians". Add to that gaza which for generatioins was run by the egyptians and now by "palestinian" arabs.... yet another part ceded. Now we have the same arabs parroting the claim that Judea and Samaria are theirs.... and the world after hearing the parrots over and over is repeating it as well. Well, enough is enough. The palestinian arabs already have 2 states, 1 in jordan, and one in gaza. So now they want a 3rd state in Yesha.... but the real truth is that they want all of Israel, and that means we all have to die for it. And the world will support this as long as we have cowards for leaders. And they will want to claim our capital as well as they all have already stated.... Well I have only one thing to say to all of them who think its ok to ethnically cleanse jews and kill them in our lands.... Go straight to hell! do not pass go, do not collect 200$... we do not need a 4 state solution
16. the noose tightens
SA ,   USA   (12.02.12)
Israel's building of housing units is not a provocation. However if the Palestinians actually want to have a state they better renounce terror soon if they want a capital in East Jerusalem. Look, it's not possible for them now and in the future as Israel builds more it will be even more impossible. The Palestinians' demands for a state are growing more impossible.
17. To All Commentators
Harold ,   USA   (12.02.12)
Why you all hate the word Peace and brand them antisemites. There is something wrong with you. Soon stealing others lands becomes a first degree crime and will be dealt by ICC.
18. germany betrayed the Jews; helps their enemies
rick ,   walnut creek   (12.02.12)
oh, yeah. there are a few in germany that want a fig leaf of care, support, etc. for Israel. only a few. and, only a simulacrum of care. it means nothing. germany has assisted Israel's mortal enemies. a few words, even the sale of weapons to Israel, cannot offset the damage that germany does to Israel. TOO BAD THE MANHATTAN PROJECT WAS NOT COMPLETED FOUR MONTHS EARLIER.
19. Haig should be concerned about the Baby Buggies in UK
Alan ,   SA   (12.02.12)
If you go to the UK you will be immediately struck by the Middle Eastern flavour of that country (as with France) Even Tony Blair lives about 150 metres from Edgeware Road.where felafel and lamb is served. So leave your Bowler Hat at home. You can get a Khafiyah cheap there In last 10 years UK population rose by 2 Million and hundred of thousands new homes need to be built .A good half of these are need for the Olim Chadashim in UK
20. UK needs 100K houses for new imigrantsTell Haig not to build
(12.02.12)
21. I want to see a photo of the building boom in Ramallah!
Ralph Haglund ,   Sweden   (12.02.12)
Remember Arafat got his Nobel Prize signing the area C to Israeli control? He got the same control over A, B and his people constantly build there with no complaints from Germany or France England or USA. Why this difference?
22. hahahahaha Merkel !
Salma ,   occupied Palestine   (12.02.12)
good one from you ;)
23. MR
No 7 Jake   (12.02.12)
Germany is complicated, unlike other European countries. They do deliever military equipment and they do get involved in complicated issues like Shalit's release. They also try to cleverly save their own skin and they manage to be trusted by both sides, that's how they could help with Shalit. Germany of today is very different from Germany of yesterday and also from France and England. I also have a very sensitive eye for anti-semites but watch Germany more carefully. In my opinion they deserve it, they are doing a very interesting politic these days.
24. Germany Abstains At UN Vote
ltrail ,   United States   (12.02.12)
So Ms Merkel. How can Germany be standing with the State of Israel when Germany gives an abstain vote for the important rejection at the UN, for Non-Member Status Observer to the so-called Palestinians? This doesn't wash.
25. Yea, just like you stood by Israel at
DT ,   TA Israel   (12.02.12)
the UN.
26. Edie @ 9 (Mr. TATA)
Jonathan   (12.02.12)
You have always hated Israel and their Jews since day one. You must try to learn that Israel was founded since day one of this world. Arabs have always been jealous of them. The jealousy is inbred in arab blood since the day they came into being. You're a washout. Accept it and shut the Hell up! TATA mouth!
27. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.02.12)
Does that mean that native Americans can take the United States before the ICC? Unlike the European interlopers who stole native American lands, Jews in Israel returned to their homeland. It is ours. Whomever may have squatted on it when the Jews were in exile are not its "owners." The Jews are, as is well documented both by the historical record and the archaeological record. Your argument, therefore, fails miserably. Moreover, Judea and Samaria -- nonsovereign territory -- was reacquired by Israel in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. The land is Israel's to settle, retain and annex. War sucks, doesn't it? You'd think the Arabs would have learned that by now, but they haven't. They also need to learn to take responsibility for, and ownership of, their bad decisions. There are consequences to starting wars and losing them, and they are not pleasant ones -- but they accrue to the ersatz "Palestinians" and they must suffer those consequences. Why should Israel be held accountable for doing what every nation that is attacked by a hostile entity does? Should the United States cede Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California to Mexico? How about ceding back the thirteen original colonies to Britain? Should the United States do that, too? I'm sure neither Mexico nor Great Britain set out intending to lose the wars which they lost. You can no more make the demand that Israel restore land won in a defensive war than you can demand that the United States start to chop itself into pieces. You should stop addressing your posts to all commentators, Harold. All you are doing is proving that you are an ignorant fool.
28. To: No. 22
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.02.12)
Hey, Salma! Has your life changed for the better since Thursday? How do you like those 3,000 new housing units that will be built for Jews? Wait until Israel starts revoking ersatz "Palestinian" work permits. Won't that be fun, too? Well -- you wanted ersatz "statehood" for an ersatz "people." Work with it, baby, because I see repatriation in your future. Real soon now. Perhaps one of those countries that supported the ersatz "Palestinians" in their foolish vote at the United Nations will proffer some land for you to use as a country. Or, you can all descend upon Gaza and fight it out amongst yourselves. I'll be sitting back and watching, laughing with the joy of it all!
29. Diplomacy is a farce
michael   (12.02.12)
With the exception of the Czech Republic. Europe ,especially Germany ,has shown its true colors in blaring neon lights. Anyone who can't conclude that Europe has never and will never change its spots is simply dillusional.
30. Mr Hague
Mordechai ,   London   (12.02.12)
Mr Hague, can you not get it into your think Northern skull, that Jerusalem will never be the capital city of a PA state. This is something that all Israeli across the political spectrum (something that does not happen often) agree with. Just accept that fact.
