I would have hoped by now that Israel would be used to the world being against her, especially the media. Israel, you need to be concerned about your own interests and safety and look to the God of Israel for help! The worlds opinion is always going to be against you.
32. re 1 Salma
nigel ,   london   (12.05.12)
Sadly salma, the BBC and a number of other foreign journalists were caught out this time. Obne BBC journalist is about to be stripped of his credentials for re posting photos he claimed were in Gaza but were in fact taken in Syria months before. Indeed, one picture, again reported as being in Gaza was of an Israeli victim of the onslaught of rockets fired from Hamastan. One of the reasons for the massive over repprtage of the Gaza conflict compared to, say, the brutality of the Syrian regime or, the ethnic cleansing of Christian Coptics in Egypt is the freedom allowed to the press in Israel compared to the rest of the Middle East. The naked truth of the recent conflict is relatively stark. Hamas et at fired thousands of missiles into Israel, allowed missiles to be fired from heavily populated areas and Palestinians died as a consequence.. Israel has a right to defend itself and, you do not live in the State of Palestine as it does not yet exist. Neither , by the way does Narnia. That is the naked truth.
33. Balen report
Laurence ,   Israel   (12.05.12)
Asserson had very valid points and I am pleased that this article appears on Ynet. Much effort has been made by various online activists to stress that media front is no different to any other front. Countless requests, letters, articles have been send to the relevant authorities regarding each and every issue and event. Response - none. A short while back the IDF spokeperson's office started a newsletter in English or Engrew or Hebrish - you choose. Might have have been Google translator too, who knows. I personally pointed out the catastrophic errors, offered free help. I received an automatic response with nonsense! The Al Dura event changed world opinion, affected the economy and caused other damage to Israel. No newspaper or authority published anything when Karsenty won the case in France. Countless numbers of activists tirelessly fight the media war alone or in small groups and it is a pity that this valuable resource is not tapped by all those concerned. A real shame.
34. Im not sure that in the case of the BBC its that simple
Tim ,   Brighton   (12.05.12)
You cant explain away these factual errors, distortions and omissions and overt bias against Israel just as mere errors of judgment or unprofessionalism It goes far far deeper I believe there is a quiet insidious and odious culture of Anti Israel and Anti Jewish sentiment which manifests itself not only in the quality of reporting but in sick innuendo, in the interview 'techniques' and 'off camera' and 'off the cuff' behaviour of some of the Presenters which a growing band of BBC Watchers are now logging and recording The BBC do sometimes respond to objections but the culture is deep rooted and howver many JUSTIFIED complaints NOTHING seems to change What we need is for Israel together with the Jewish Community in the UK who just want FAIR and ACCURATE coverage to challenge the BBC FINALLY in court A Legal Challenge will OUT to the British public just how prepostorous has been their treatment of Israel over the years. They have fed a diet of distorted and biased stories and biased interviews over the years. Any wonder that their perception of Israel and the issues over the years has been so conditioned by the BBCs horrendous coverage And what we ask for is nothing MORE nothing LESS than fair and accurate and unbiased reporting and let the PUBLIC not the BBC decide
35. Israelis to xenophobic to believe it would do any good
Thinking Jew ,   Israel   (12.05.12)
The chorus is always the same: "They'll hate us no matter what we do" These are the haters, seeing their own reflection. So many Israelis refuse to think any good could come from PR. The rest are apathetic. So it doesn't change.
36. Israel's worst enemies are... some Israelis
kippah seruga ,   Israel   (12.05.12)
37. A small nation must mind its economic viability, Israel must
Moshe ,   Usa   (12.05.12)
dismiss spending on media antisemitism, as these funds can be best spent to elevate the welfare of Israel. Antisemites will always be, and they will never change. The best thing we can do is have as many Jewish children as possible. One day, enough goyim will be confident enough to tackle the bad media problem for us.
38. Foreign press beats IDF
Gary Katz ,   Long Grove USA   (12.05.12)
Good points. Hamas repeatedly kicks a hornets' nest until the hornets react, Hamas tries to fend off the hornets with children, Hamas complains about getting stung, and the foreign press reacts in horror at the hornets. I picture Hamas operatives in some back room, chortling and saying the Arabic word for, "Suckers!"
39. Treat enemy civilians as WW II Allies did.
Chaim   (12.05.12)
Churchill was not the least concerned about enemy civilians. In fact, Churchill adopted the policy of making as many Germans homeless as possible. This effectively curtailed their enthusiasm for Hitler. Israel should treat "Palestinian" civilians exactly as the WW II Allies treated enemy civilians.
40. # 31 the media
ltrail ,   United States   (12.05.12)
Well said, Brian of USA. I think that the paragraph that begins with, "The BBC, with its halo of ‘impartiality,’ is the world leader in dissimulation" says it all, regarding BBC.
41. Foreign press beats IDF
(12.05.12)
whose money is it behind BBC?
42. The naked truth is,Salma
American Sabrah ,   Israel   (12.05.12)
That BBC and other mainstream media networks are being dominated by the anti-Israel and ant-Semitic influences of the Arabs. They are the puppet masters that are pulling the strings controlling the content of the news.
43. ENGLAND and Jewish&Israeli history: COVERT NAZIS?

44. BBC
Mordechai ,   Beit Shemesh   (12.05.12)
Lyse Doucet is Canadian, look her up on Wikipedia. She lived here as did Boden and were balanced and fair but both have become radicalized. they believe everything the Arabs tell them as they have no way of checking what is the truth or fiction. Remember only here are they free to go about as they please everywhere else in the WB Gaza Egypt etc, they have "minders" who control everyone they speak to, everywhere they go. and yet they never talk about it as to do so will threaten their lives and they would never be able to go back to an Arab country and their bosses know nothing of this and if they do they likewise are scared.
45. Our explanations are not enough -to #14
lidia ,   Rishon Lezion   (12.05.12)
especially when we have to waste our time talking back to comments like Salma's. It's high time we made some historical points clear. It's important to keep refreshing those minds who refuse to acknowledge the truth!! ALL WE NEED IS BRAINS!!!!!
46. Could it be the heads of the BBC be blackmailed ?after
rachel ,   usa   (12.05.12)
all , they all knew what JIMMY SAVILE was doing and no one dared say a word ! Could they have been complices in the whole affaire?
47. #44 please don't make excuses for liars.........
rachel ,   usa   (12.05.12)
48. Knowledge Is Power
Tom W ,   USA   (12.05.12)
Very few people ever heard of the "Socialist International" (1951) an umbrella organization of Marxist (leftist) groups, media, countless social organizations and gov.ments. The Fabian-Socialist BBC, Guardian, N.Y Times, Der Spiegel etc. are either members or associated parties of that said organization. They pursue a coordinated policy in support of the International left, so they are politically and ideologically interconnected. Because currently the Left policy is pro-Islamic and anti-Israeli it's no wonder that they bashing Israel in unison. They have immense power and influence thus it's almost impossible to stand up to them or to challenge their propaganda. Older people still remember when the Soviet politburo set the tone for all newspapers in the East Block countries and the "Pravda" was their flagship. The present situation is a bit reminiscent to those bygone era.
49. No 17. How very right!
Alf Red ,   Londonistan   (12.05.12)
It is an abomination that Israel has no International 24/7 television service via satellites in English at least, although it would be only great to have it in other main languages, Russian included. I had once an Israeli channel on my satellite receiver, where pair of geriatric narrators led some moribund news in English for a WHOLE 15 minutes. All the rest of time was filled by "Arabs in Israel" stories, in Arabic. As they say: Don't complain you can't win a lottery if you don't buy a ticket! Israel needs VERY BADLY a World TV channel. While it isn't there - why complain that the whole world gets it's info from the blatant reality-benders from Al-Jazeera, Russian State TV, BBC and others?
50. Why is reporting the truth always attacked as anit-semtic.
Observer   (12.05.12)
Observation over the years a has shown that the IDF is, at least, as evil as the Waffen SS. Numerous occassion has the idf delilberly target child, civilians, infrastructue and medical facilities. All with approval and support of most of the isreali population . ICC is proper place to settle this question.
51. Withhold Contributions to NPR as protest to BBC
David ,   Montpelier USA   (12.05.12)
NPR is the main sponsor of BBC news in the United States. Do not contribute to public radio and television unless and until it ceases to pay for BBC news programing.
52. The simplest solution....
Vlad   (12.05.12)
Is to be very restrictive when issuing press cards inside Israel or the WB, and try to electronically jam them in Gaza.
53. #51 well said
rachel ,   usa   (12.05.12)
54. #50. Observer: How 'bout Islam terrorism?
Tom W ,   USA   (12.05.12)
Kassam rockets at civilian targets, bombing civilian buses stb. are hallmark of the Palestinian Authority, including Hamas. Your malicious slander was debunked by the Goldstone report while your brethren murderous rampage is widely documented. Not long ago Arabs shot at an Israeli school bus from the Egyptian Sinai. The whole Islamic world from N.Africa to Syria and beyond is engulfed in bloody murder and you have the temerity to spew lies here.
55. #51. David: NPR is Jewish
Tom W ,   USA   (12.05.12)
Most of the disgraced and fired top leaders of NPR were Jewish and so are most of their contributors. It's part of the Obama-Jews coterie and beneficiary of government donations. In the current leftist climate in the U.S. these organizations got the upper hand and to challenge the socialist-Islamic alliance is not possible under Obama rule.
56. Why not simply ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.06.12)
... revoke the press credentials of the BBC until it shapes up? Alternatively, sue them in a British court for deliberately falsifying news and publishing photographs which it knew to be patently false. That is well beyond the pale of responsible journalism.
57. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.06.12)
Does passing off a dead Syrian child as an ersatz "Palestinian" in Gaza qualify as the "naked truth?"
58. BBC should be personna non grata in Israel
Eliezer ,   Jerusalem   (12.05.12)
THe goverment Press Office ,GPO, should remove the BBC as a recognised media in Israel and declare their biased anti Israel reporters as personna non grata and remove all their Press Crendentials
59. Fight the goodfight for Israel
Jarred Stone ,   London UK   (12.06.12)
Posters here need to go on the Guardian website and help to stop the spread of the nasty anti-Semitic anti-Israeli Guardian sponsored propaganda. We need to let them know that we are onto them.Israel needs your help.Google The Guardian....And go for it......
60. #56 as usual well said Sarah!
