IDF: Only men will examine haredim    Kobi Nahshoni
1. What? Women do physical checkups on secular men for IDF?
What an immoral place the IDF is. No wonder the Rabbis prohibitted haredim to join.
Chaim   (12.04.12)
2. I wouldn't mind checking them out!
Mark ,   Jerusalem   (12.04.12)
3. I wouldn't trust them and would insist
that Roshei Yeshiva and/or fathers go along. There's absolutely no reason that boys have to walk around NAKED for who knows how long even if it's men that "check" them in the draft "office". What do they have to "check" anyhow that they have to walk around naked? And why do women have to be "checked" in the same room (by women)? IDF is one piece of filth starting from going to the draft "office".
Chaim   (12.04.12)
4. female doctors
I totally disagree. as a religious female doctor I examine men and women everyday as part of my job. sure, if there's 2 equally qualified doctors of each gender they would examine individuals of same gender, but there's not always enough doctors (i speak about medicine in general) but if there's not public should appreciate that we are trained for many years to do this as sensitively as possible, and it really is just our job.

5. naked in draft office
I didn't walk around naked in the draft office, but it seems to me that Haredi men do a lot of walking around naked in the Mikvahs. Where's their modesty there?

6. # 3 Chaim.how dumb and ignorant you
are,you must be reading a lot of muslim antisemitic literature.
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (12.04.12)
7. nudity and the Haredim
Do Haredim men think that they will be contaminated by seeing other nude men? I guess this means that there are no physical education classes and communal showers at religious schools. They seem to read lust and depravity into everything. These guys need to join the real world. If they haven't seen other guys naked before, it is high time.

8. Came back from there in complete shock
If these men "came back from there in complete shock" then it is time to pull them from their isolated bubble and into the real world.

9. to #4 Spalding UK
you're being too kind to these hareidi clowns. I propose that if they don't accept to be examined by women in the IDF, then they not be allowed to receive consultationss nor reatmentss from female MD's, nurse, x-ray, lab techs, etc, etc etc!!
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (12.05.12)
10. No yeshiva student should sign up
No yeshiva student should sign up unless they draft the arabs. The arabs attack Jews and get funding from the Israeli government and don't have to do any volunteer work. This is discrimination against chareidi Jews. No Frum Jew should join the secular police or army. You don't want to end up protecting the monthly women of the wall abomination at the kosel each rosh choidesh or the yearly toeva parade in yerushalayim. Avoid signing up.

12. No Women to Checkup on Haredim Draftees
Shame on the IDF! Shame on the govt. with its misogynistic policies. They should all be checked by female proctologists and sent for a course in sex education given by women. The Haredim (and lots of others the world over) have truly sick and perverted ideas about sexuality and there is no need to pander to them.
Eli ,   Israel   (12.05.12)
13. the problem is secular superiority culture
This article is designed to slur the haredi and has nothing to do with them going into the army or not. Women don't like being examined by men so why should it be so terrible haredi don't want to be examined by a woman? Its not a crime that haredi culture is different to secular, what makes secular culture the superior one so haredi must do things the secular way or condemned? Its also true secular people especially in the army do not understand haredi culture. Haredi background is different and so secular people will have to accept that. In the secular world are not allowed to discriminate against gay people, women, disabled but it is ok to hold your head and proudly announce you are anti haredi.
zionist forever   (12.05.12)
14. No. 13 Zionist forever
Do you have any idea how many women had no choice but to be examined by male doctors (including gynecologists), because there weren't that many female doctors at one time? And I'm sure there were women who were very modest, yet they had no alternative. So, that being the case, it's doubtful that the earth is going to fall off its axis if a Haredi man has to be examined by a female doctor on occasion.

15. #5 Yechezkel It's a difference between holiness and profane
and that's the difference between yeshivas and the IDF army.

You are a foolish woman, they type whose Lashon Hara brings about destruction and death to our people.
Lorne ,   Tel Aviv   (12.05.12)
17. This is news?
Most men and women prefer to be physically examined by a doctor of the same sex. As a married woman, I wouldn't feel comfortable undressing in front of a male doctor and having him touch me without my husband or a female nurse present. Likewise, I can't imagine a woman doctor feeling comfortable about touching half naked male patients either. I've heard stories about doctors sexually assaulting their patients. People have every reason to be concerned. Why do you think they have women patting down other women and men patting down other men at security checkout points? Its part of human nature not to want to be touched or undressed in front of those of the opposite sex who are not related to you.
