The land that's there was conquered Jordanian territory during the war in 1967, that rightfully became Israel's seeing as it was Jordan who attacked Israel first. The same rhetoric can be made in the Balkans to Cyprus. Also can be made about Gaza which was once Egyptian territory. There never was a Palestinian state and when it was the mandate, such "Palestinians" were actually Jews as well. It's just a stupid name "Palestinians" like to use to try and bring a historic link to the land even though they have none.
