1. Why must this ''rabbi'' make a deal out of nothing?
Shalom ,   Israel   (12.07.12)
Everyone, and I repeat everyone, knows what the reaction of the military Rabbinate would be if homosexuel, self proclaimed rabbi's would ask to lecture young religious soldiers. So why on earth did he actually try? Why request things you know you won't get? The most hilarious thing is that he goes to the media afterwards, and that the media actually really takes the effort to publish it. The amazingly anti-religious character of ynet (and lots of other newspapers too) just never seems to cease, not surpising though, as we know that the media is run by secular left-wingers. That is also why we have read nothing about the new party ''Koach Lashpia'' of HaRav Amnon Yitzchak Shlita, who will win a minimum of 5-6 seats in the next knesset elections Baruch Hashem. They even go as far as to censor messages from religious talkbackers here and always without elaborating. Everything that is just even a little bit of religious gets bashed and ridiculed. Absolutley disgusting.
2. we're supposed to only screw the enemy
Jew ,   Israel   (12.07.12)
3. How can a Lawbreaker -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (12.07.12)
-against the Word of HASHEM, ever be a Rabbi ? One can nor export what One has not in Ones personality and, if the Word of HASHEM is not integrated in your personality by practise, you can not teach the Word of HASHEM with insight. Arn.Sweden.
4. to no.3:
American Jew ,   New York City, USA   (12.07.12)
He is no law breaker. The Torah only forbids male to male anal intercourse. We homosexual Jews can live good, holy lives pleasable to HaShem
5. Straight with good students, gay with those need improve...
Miron ,   USA   (12.07.12)
6. "orthodox homosexuals" ? um, isnt that impossible?
jack bauer   (12.07.12)
sounds like an attempt to make trouble.... its surprising that the army who has a history of antagonizing blavk hats may have made a wise decision this time
7. @ #4
yosef ,   williamsburg US   (12.07.12)
Who brought down that psak? So with your reasoning, spouse infidelity is okay as long as there is no intercourse and chas v'shalom it is okay to grope young children as long as intercourse does not occur?
8. IDF needs to remove the Orthodox from control
Mark ,   Cleveland USA   (12.07.12)
Part of the reason for the growing disconnect between American Jews and Israel is that the vast majority of American Jews don't respect Orthodox authority over any part of religious life and resent their power in matters of religion in Israel. Israel needs to join the modern world in this respect. If the only form of Judaism available to the Jews of America was Orthodox, fully two thirds, at least, would leave Judaism entirely. Israel needs to recognize that fact if it expects to remain the Jewish beacon for all Jews. I suspect the Jews in Israel feel the same regarding Orthodoxy.
9. well said, shalom @1
yakir   (12.07.12)
this is nothing less than provocation. it's a shame that it has come so far. judaism must not be connected to homosexuality in any way.
10. help for what??
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (12.07.12)
Does this group help homosexuals get off of being homosexuals or do they help them deal with the anti-homosexual feelings in the army? Not clear to me from this article. Can some one clarify?? thanks.
11. Discussing Torah
Ezra ,   San Diego USA   (12.07.12)
I would like to hear the Rabbi explain his Torah's version of a man lying with another man. That should be boring. I know there is a tendency for Jews to replace the Torah with their own religion called common-sense liberalism. He should rethink his sexual orientation.
12. Israeli society is Homophobic
Laila ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.07.12)
Israeli society is Homophobic while the Mayor of Tel Aviv trys to pretend how tolerant Israel is towards gays.

"Analyse that"!
14. to #4
Dan ,   Tel Aviv   (12.07.12)
Right NY Jew, The Torah explicitly forbids anal sex....not homosexuality... No surprise you're from NY...
15. Given the IDF's positive record regarding homosexuals....
Hetero Granny ,   Israel   (12.07.12)
I am left wondering who exactly made this decision? Clearly it was the IDF Rabbinate and not the IDF itself. The decision needs to be revisited and changed. After all we are all G-d's children!
16. To nr 4.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (12.07.12)
I Repeat - " if the Word of HASHEM is not integrated in your personality by practise, you can not teach the Word of HASHEM with insight ". Comment - Selfdeceptive Jews like You, will never have insight into the Word of HASHEM, and undertsand its Holy meaning. Thus - Psalm 119 - 18 Open Thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Thy law Arn.Sweden.
17. Gay Rabbi? What's next, a Christian Imam?
Jake ,   USA   (12.07.12)
18. #4, the Torah also forbids ejaculation outside of a woman
Jake ,   USA   (12.07.12)
Are you claiming that religious gays don't ever ejaculate?
19. God's Perspective!
Z.Z. Coltrane ,   USA   (12.07.12)
Leviticus 18, 20 & Romans 1. That should clear-up any doubt what God thinks of this abhorrent sin! People should not try to make excuses to make their views fit into God's word; instead, God's word should be what molds one's thinking and actions! The sin of homosexuality will be judged for the sin that it is, like all sin will be! One cannot hide from their sin; God will always bring to light what is hid in darkness. Your sin will find you!!! Christian Zionist
20. Yes, it may happen. We have Chrislam already.
Lexa ,   Aom   (12.07.12)
21. what's up w/the American BudInSki's bla-bla-ando here?
Israel ,   Israel   (12.07.12)
This is Israel, we have a different view on Homosexual servicemen than the twisted one you people have for the United States armed forces. Not a one of you Americans has a clue what you are going on about therefore you would all do very well to BudOut! Take you Bla-bla for a walk!
22. who r all these judges? he who is w/o sin...
(12.07.12)
may go ahead and cast the first stone. Yeah just as I suspected not a one of you can cast that first stone! Can ya! Sinners before the Lord, one and all of you.
23. #8, Orthodox must be more inclusive-no need for fake Judaism
Jake ,   USA   (12.07.12)
24. Rosh Katan
Moshico ,   Jerusalem   (12.10.12)
So many people write such stupid comments which just show how much little knowledge they have on this matter. It does not matter if one is born gay or not that’s not the issue here, the issue here there are gay soldiers in the IDF and these boys are looking after you whether you like it or not. They are no different to you except for their sexual feelings, they fight on the front the line they sit in tanks they are even in Hesdar Yeshivas and other ones including Haradi ones. We are in the 21st century and its time for people to learn tolerance with their fellow Jews no matter what. The Torah may say one thing but may be we do not interpret ate it properly. And who says that every gay guy is having sex like men and women do may be its just a friendship just like Jonathan and David had and I am not saying they were gay they were good friends. So wake up and give these boys the rights they deserve. They are Jews just like you, religious secular etc. This Rabbi has every right to be able to speak in the army and if not to everyone at least the guys who need him. Don't be such Rosh Katan
25. Reply to number 8 America and Orthodoxy
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (12.10.12)
In Israel there are Reform and Conservative synagoues and anyone is free to take part in such communities. The fact is that Reform began as an attempt to make German Jews look more German and less Jewish. America went even further and adopted family seating from the Protestant churches, having scrapped Hebrew, rituals like Shabbos, kashrus and mikveh, prayers for the restoration of the Jewish state, the New Jerusalem, the Messianic King from the House of David and the Holy Temple rebuilt. For Hebrew speaking Jews in the New Jerusalem, where Shabbos, kashrus and mikveh are on their door step, Reform feels alien, like a halfway house to assimilation and intermarriage.
26. Reply to number 12 Gays and Tel Aviv
Akiva ,   NYC   (12.10.12)
If israel is homophobic more than elsewhere it doesn't seem too obvious. I'm told gays see Tel Aviv as the most unhomophobic city in the Middle East and as accepting as most Western cities.
