They are just as bad as Assad's forces and if they think that using chemical weapons will help them win the war why wouldn't they? They may even think maybe if we use WMDS it will lead to international intervention and the toppling of Assad. Even if the rebels who have organised and united under a central command there are still plenty of people out there who are independent and there are Al Quaida people there is the added risk one of them might use them. Israel also must worry not just about Assad & his WMDS or any potential ones made by the rebels but what if Hezbollah get their hands on Chlorine or any other materials to make their own gas weapons. We need to bomb Assad's chemical weapons facilities and other places where materials that could be used to make chemical weapons could be obtained by terrorists.

is "against our own people" an accurate translation? does this mean that assad's forces will not use chemical weapons against SYRIANS, or does it mean only not against ALAWITES? and even if means all syrians, what's to stop them from using them against israelis or lebanese or jordanians or turks, in an effort to widen the conflict, and muster (sic) support? using chemical weapons against ANY civilians is a war crime, and the distinction betwen "our people" and anybody else is a pernicious one.

When he says "against our own people" he means that he will not attack Syrian civilian populations, but will attack the opposition military. Remember that Assad (as well as most people) consider the "rebels" as foreign jihadis armed by Saudi, Turkey, US, France and UK and supported by US/UK/French special forces.

Of course, they are using chemical weapons, the very ones they obtained from the US.
