I think that the idea of guard with gun and panic button in school is a good. Check each and every parents bags before they enter school. No parent can enter school without a reason. Leave the children on the gate. Along with this you also need a backup plan. Keep a locked gun in school and train principle and one or two others for it. Only they will have access to this gun and will be used if necessary to save lives.

When I lived in Israel for four months in 2006 there were guards with Uzi's at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer at the entrance to the shopping center next to the Apropo Hotel, and in the hallway at the Respiratory Rehabilitation Center second floor where Ariel Sharon was located, with two other guards with hand guns and walkie-talkie devices to communicate with each other at their collars. There were guards with Uzi's at hotel entrances and many other places. There were armed IDF with Uzi's on buses and in many places. Did you miss that in living there wearing blinders? The Jewish Rabbi interviewed by CNN at the school in Connecticutt was comforting the parents who lost their children, so many or some must have been Jewish which makes the school a community school for Jews as well as Gentiles. Not too many Catholics want to be comforted by a Rabbi they hate. The Catholic Priest was no where to be seen or to be interviewed until the evening after the shootings. Guess he didn't want to be shot and stayed away from danger until it was all clear. There are many Jews in the US NorthEast so having a Rabbi to arrive at the Fire Station to comfort t he parents who lost children was not surprising. Sorry that makes you all so unhappy.
