1. First they came
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.12)
for the terrorists and I said nothing because I wasn't a terrorist. Then they came for the MKs and I said nothing because I wasn't an MK. Then they came for the MK terrorists and I said nothing because I was sane. Of course, they never came for me because I'm not a terrorist sympathizer.
2. The Frightwing always KNOWS what Arabs must think feel say
miki ,   tampa   (12.17.12)
3. Not just the extreme right but most Israelis
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (12.17.12)
Sami El-Ali talks all the way through the article, which I could hardly bear to read, about the extreme right. He's totally clueless about what Israelis think and feel and obviously only in touch with others of his ilk. If he wants to write articles then he should get out and about and read more than just articles by other left-wing junkies. The HUGE majority of Israelis want Zoabi kicked out! I surfed and the only Sami El-Ali that I could find lives in Saudi Arabia.
4. Zoabi - in, Lieberman - out.
Jules   (12.17.12)
5. nothing to do with what she says...
EZ   (12.17.12)
she crossed the line when she boarded boats that tried to violate the blockade of Hamas. This is a military blockade of a government that was actively at war with Israel - a state that she is a member of parliament of. Thus, she is guilty of treason. That should be enough to put her in prison - never mind strip her of her parliamentary seat.
6. Mr. El-Ali, if you don't like it, Syria is an option for you
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (12.17.12)
Oh I forgot, they don't want you or Zoabi either. No democracy for violent misfits.
7. Thank you YNetNews
Taner ,   NYC   (12.17.12)
What a great great and peaceful op-ed. Keep up the great work. To this day I have thought YNet was a right-wing paper. I see now that I am wrong and that YNet is a reasonable source of news. Thank you!
8. Equal Rights
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.17.12)
...means equality before the law. If I had been on that flotilla, I'd be in prison right now. Why should Zoabi be any different. There is parlimentary immunity, but there is no Palestinian immunity provision in this democracy or any otehr in the world. Zoabi should be bound by the same laws I'm bound by. Period.
9. Israeli retreat is the root of Israel's troubles.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.17.12)
It is 100% obvious that Israel "occupies" only some of her own land. Moreover, Israeli retreat is the root cause of almost all Israeli problems. Q: Why does Israel suffer wars and terror from Lebanon? A: Because of Israel's retreat from South Lebanon? Q: Why does Israel suffer wars and terror from Gaza? A: Because of Israel's retreat from Gaza. Q: Why does Israel suffer attacks from Arab towns in Judea and Samaria? A: Because of Israel's retreat from our Judea and Samaria towns. End Israeli retreat. Take back our abandoned lands and most of our problems will vanish.
10. Israel, the stupid
Sidney ,   USA   (12.17.12)
Name one other country in the whole world that allows openly disloyal people in its legislative body.
11. ZOABI, THE UNIMPORTANT.
Megalo Doublewide ,   ATLANTA GA USA   (12.17.12)
TIME TO flush the toilet...get rid of the waste. so long to zoabi's 5 th column
12. Arab parties in Israel are guilty of treason
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (12.17.12)
In any other nation these political parties would be banned. Can you imagine if a pro-Osama Bin Laden party was formed in the US that called for the destruction of the US??? That is the same ethos the Arab parties in Israel represent.
13. Not true; can't find one example
Ephraim ,   Tapuah   (12.17.12)
Find me one example of someone who blames the arab parties for "all" troubles.
14. Balad
Aharon   (12.17.12)
I don't have a problem with Arabs being in the Knesset so long as they are loyal to the State of Israel and recognize it as the Jewish State. The problem arises when such Arabs do not view themselves as Israeli, support Israel's enemies, and constantly undermine the state. Zoabi is a traitor hvaing sided with terrorists, attacking Knesset guards, and denouncing the State of Israel and its military. She should not only be barred from the Knesset, but she should be put on trial (or have an "accident"). It's one thing to have a difference of opinion, it's another to cross a line and undermine the state. When that line is crossed, action needs to be taken.
15. To Mr. El Ali.
Maurice ,   Montreal   (12.17.12)
Zoabi is a traitor to her country! She joined on the Mavi Marmara terrorists who wanted to spoil the legal blockade of Gaza. A blockade that is there to protect Israeli citizens from rockets! Look what happens to traitors in the US and other countries for much less. It is amazing that she is still in the parliament. She should be in jail!
16. This Was And Is The Right DECSION
(12.17.12)
If this arab women Promoted Israel, worked to bridge gaps foster trust, understanding, maybe TBERE could have been a future? However she Actively Did The Opposite And Every Opportunity to Deligitimize Her State And Government! She only served to create Subversion And Perpetuate A Myth!!!!!!!!!!! Period !!!!!!!!!!! She is a Traitor And So is her arab party! The Onus Is On All Israeli arabs, not Israel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17. confused
nva ,   jerusalem   (12.17.12)
You seem to be confused. No one cares that the Arab minority is opinionated. But boarding the Marmara in the first place was an act of treason as the IDF naval blockade is perfectly legitimate, not contested whatsoever by international law. Add to that Zoabi's foreknowledge that they were planning to attack the soldiers and she did NOTHING? And meeting with Hamas to say that Israel has no right to live a normal life...etc etc etc. Are you kidding me? You are the one who needs to do some soul searching. No country in the world would tolerate such behavior from it's parliament members and this AG should be released from his duties.
18. First Zoabi then Tibi then the bloody "Bagatz"- that's the
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.17.12)
right order of dealing with enemies from within. That is, if one is of patriotic, rght-wing persuasion....and has a basic sense of self-preservation!
19. Exactly.
Bertram ,   London, UK   (12.17.12)
We know those countries which have sought - and continue to seek - to censor, ban and proscribe. It does not matter which political label they go under - right, left, even 'democratic,' they hide their extremism with accusations of treachery and sedition. Fear has eaten into the soul of these regimes to the extent that they are the real enemies of democracy. If democracies cannot tolerate opinionated groups and individuals of whatever political hue they are unworthy of the name.
20. Sorry! I don't understand
Jonathan ,   Petach-Tikva   (12.17.12)
what occupation? I occupy my home?
21. Of course since the writer is also from Balad,
A ,   Belgium   (12.17.12)
he would never dare to use the two words that apply the most to Zoabi, Tibi and the rest: traitor and treason
22. So in other words...
Vlad   (12.17.12)
Open traitors who visit enemy states, participate in military activities against Israeli forces, and openly flaunt the laws should be given unlimited leeway to act as they wish? In most countries, including democratic ones, Zoabi and Tibi would have been put in front of a military court long ago.
23. funny
Jordan Ariel ,   Philadelphia USA   (12.17.12)
The authors last sentence... the Kach party was banned if i am not mistaken. So i'm pretty sure they were silenced already. Zoabi incites, and as an MK tried to breach an Israeli blockade. She should be in jail. Balad should still participate in the elections... just without Zoabi.
24. Can a Balad activist be unbiased about Zouabi
zionist forever   (12.17.12)
The author of the article is a Balad activist.
25. Sami, Zoabi is not doing a good job representing you
Daniel ,   JM   (12.17.12)
You are wrong. True democracy that is Israel should not include "opinionated palestinian minority". Why should it??? The place of palestinian minority is where it belongs - in the non-member observer state whatever it means. True democracy that is Israel includes Israeli Arab minority, opinionated or not, as it should. This minority should represent Israeli Arabs, not Hamastan jihadis. She is not representing her electorate - Israeli Arabs in the Knesset. She is representing people who belong to a different state, have no Israeli citizenship and are hell-bent on destroying Israel. Find someone who will find for bettering the lives of your brethren instead of fighting for the cause of provocation and strife.
26. Balad IS the occupation, you fool
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (12.17.12)
Arabs belong in Arabia - Quit occupying OUR land.
27. #10
David Levine ,   Highlands Ranch   (12.17.12)
Obama
28. Why don't we ban
MelekhShaul ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.12)
All the Right Wing parties as well, that'll make it equal. OR just ban the Right Wing parties. That'll be more sane. And guess what? I'm with the Balad writer Belgo!
29. To # 18 WELL SAID TOM !!!!
Stan ,   Israel   (12.17.12)
and if you had said it in a certain European country 80 years ago, the boys would have been slapping you on the back and congratulating you.
30. TO NR. 7.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (12.18.12)
WELL NOTICED. YNETNEWS REALLY IS AN IMPARTIAL NEWSPAPER IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY.
