1. In their own mind ONLY!
Cyberbrain ,   World   (12.21.12)
Israeli Haredim bringing sanctimonious religiosity, medieval rituals, xenophobia -- NOT morals and NOT Tora or legitimate halacha.
2. Not God because he is a myth.
JMK ,   NYC   (12.21.12)
Jews want to live a moral life so they do, the rest is just projection and retrojection.
3. A lesson from Hillel
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (12.21.12)
As the story goes, a Roman soldier visted Hillel to taunt him and told him to tell him the entire Torah while standing on one foot. In response, Hillel stood on one foot and told him, "Do to others as you would have other do to yourself" That is all the lessons you can learn, the rest is just details. This lesson does not require God to follow it, it is just something you can do for yourself. God can empower you to live a moral life, but in the end, it really is your choice and no one else.
4. Yes, send 100% of the Jews to Israel, see what happens next
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.21.12)
5. superior
john ,   toronto   (12.21.12)
Jews also have good and bad people like any other country. To say that only Jewish people are morally superior is wrong. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, it is the starting point .
6. I'm sorry
(12.21.12)
but this is truly demented . This is simply a self-deluded attempt to rationalize away the contradictions between a people who think they are the most moral in the world against the actual evidence which suggests that they are fallible humans just like everyone else. Every people regard themselves as more moral than everyone else. This attitude is called ''ethnocentrism''. The more enlightened peoples of the world try to avoid this attitude. Its a bit 1930s.
7. yes please!
(12.21.12)
all the Jewish bureaucrats, liberals, con-men, activists , lawyers , agents, tacky Hollywood types, banksters, oligarchs, fraudsters etc leave the West and go to Israel. Please God make it happen.
8. You mean like shooting down a civillan airliner
ben   (12.22.12)
that got lost in a sand storm and made the mistake of straying over sacred Israel air space
9. Fantasy Land.
Eric ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.22.12)
" bring morals and justice to the world through a Jewish state." What is this fellow smoking ?
10. He forgot one value
Scarborough1414 ,   Scarborough, Ontario   (12.22.12)
The value he forgot to mention was tolerance. When Israel accepts Christianity and Islam (which it does), this is construed as tolerance. Not so. True tolerance is when Conservative Judaism and even Reform Judaism are accepted equally along with Orthodox Judaism without rancor. When homosexuals are allowed to march peacefully through the streets; when women are allowed to walk the streets in safety dressed largely as they please; when Mizrachi (Sephardic) Jews are seen as equal to Ashkenazic Jews, only then will there be true tolerance in Israel. When new olim (immigrants to Israel) are welcomed truly (not just at the airport) and their attempts to learn Hebrew are seen as a positive effort to "fit in", not just as some sort of joke, THEN we will have tolerance. Until then, Rabbi Shvat is just spouting Jewish triumphalism. Why doesn't he mention our big secret? (Here it is: One-fourth of the top 400 names in the Forbes wealthiest individuals list are Jewish, even though we're only 2% of the population of the U.S.) I guess he doesn't want to scare the goyim too much!
11. Sensible people don't need Tanah to live moral life.
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.22.12)
Common sense dictates logically what to do and there is absolutely nothing revealing in the Ten Commandments that a person cannot figure out for him/her self. Tanah is not needed, Jewish religion is one huge waste of time and a burden. We can figure out instinctively ourselves, without religion, how to live well and in balance with each other and with Nature..
12. Israel has 9 Nobel winners, the US over 300
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.22.12)
What is he talking about, how is he counting those "Jews"? Building a long lecture and not even telling us who is he meaning? "Imagine if all the Nobel Prize winners were in one country" he says, or "all the chess masters." Yes, I am imagining. They would not win Nobel prizes and would not be chess masters if they started out in that "one country." There are no conditions necessary in that "one country" to achieve much of it, dear conceded rabbi.
13. Funniest article of the year so far
Paul ,   Brisbane   (12.22.12)
Morals, Israel, same sentence. Oh stop it, you're killing us! Literally in the case of many.
14. confession
john ,   toronto   (12.23.12)
Confession of a community's sins are good. But I hope religious leaders would do it, but this is something they will not question. Money is not a measure of morality.More money means more scrutiny that it has been earned in the correct way. Creativity is not a crime nor is being rich. But excessive wealth by any group whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim is suspicious. Despite this there are some who are chosen not because of any inherent goodness but even with faults. Humility should be the response to such an anointing.
15. NO alternatives to Creationism.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (12.23.12)
Genesis opens with the universe as 'finite' - there was a 'beginning'. There is no scientific alternatives to a Creator based Creation based on a finite universe. Name one?
16. Jews never ever stole land in 4000 years.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (12.23.12)
Despite being dispersed throughout the nations. Who else can match such a merit?
17. #15, Tanah imagination. Big Bang created it, finite or not.
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.24.12)
18. apparently still something attractive
Melanie   (01.05.13)
I've just been amazed how many people with anti-jewish attitude watch these videos of Rv. Shvat. Apparently something still draws them towards jewish teachings.. which actually confirms what the rabbi said in the video. :-)
