'124-year-old' Arab-Israeli woman dies    Hassan Shaalan
1. Allah
God bless her soul . Allah yerhamha ?
Moh Yemen   (12.22.12)
2. Well ...
... rest in peace, but I am hard-pressed to understand how her life was better before. Unless you're really a big fan of cholera, blindness, tuberculosis, hardscrabble farming on barren land and goat-herding, I very humbly submit that the ONLY reason she lived to her great old age is the advent of the State of Israel and the modernity that came with it, including medicine. She has basically triply outstripped the average life span of Arabs everywhere outside of Israel. I wonder if her family recognizes this fact. I would hope they do, but I am not holding my breath.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.12)
3. And the connection?
She's also outstripped the lifespan of every Arab and Jew in Israel. What's the connection? That for her long life her family should be eternally grateful to the Jewish State? For goodness sake...
Rain   (12.22.12)
4. What 3 said
(12.22.12)
5. @2 u should b so lucky
(12.22.12)
6. Sarah B
Even for this venerable lady, your attitude is ungenerous ... as expected. Nevertheless, Merry Xmas to you and your tribe in the declining USA.
Jon ,   UK   (12.22.12)
7. To No. 3
When did you lose your soul, Sarah B? Typically, your post lacks any kind of graciousness, your only concern being to score points. This lady lived through many eras, no doubt experiencing a life full of complexity, conflict, joy and tragedy. May you also live a long life, at the end of which I hope your humanity will have been restored.
Bertram ,   London, UK   (12.22.12)

I don't celebrate Christmas. You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer, dear, are you? The U.S.A. may be in decline, but I assure you that the U.K. is in far worse shape. As to the question of generosity -- why don't you check out the mortality rates in every single Arab and Moslem country, and compare them to Israel's? Then come back and discuss the venerable lady, and how she managed to achieve her ripe old age.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.12)
9. To: No. 3
Hate to rain on your parade, but that's exactly what I'm saying.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.12)
10. You have to admire the troubled souls of #3 and #4...
... for whom every article, every story, and every statement somehow has to be about the Arabs' conflict with Israel. Rain, it is a human interest story about a lady who grew to be very, very old. Maybe in your world such stories are not fit to be journalism, because they are not sufficiently attuned to your keen obsession with the Arab boycott. In the real world, though, it's news.

11. To: No. 7
I did not compose the post at No. 3. When did you lose your brain?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.12)
12. I thought life was terrible for arabs in israel
The bad press Israel gets about how the arabs there are living anybody would think they are malnourished and dying early in childhood. Now it turns out the oldest woman in the world somehow managed to survive living Israel for 124 years.
zionist forever   (12.22.12)
13. Allah helped her
live that long. If anything it just proves that Allah really exists. He allowed her to live that long to show the great genetics Arabs have. May allah blessed her soul, and end the occupation from the river to the sea, north & south! Long live Arabs
Melissa ,   US of Ar   (12.22.12)
14. # 3. here is the connection,in the last 40
years 130,000 arabs from the neighboring countries,Egypt,Jordan, settled in Israel, how many Israeli arabs emigrated to Egypt and Jordan ?.
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (12.22.12)
15. To: No. 13
Yo, jellybrain ... she lived in the STATE OF ISRAEL. Can you get that through your seriously compromised "brain?" Allah didn't take care of her ... Israel did. I realize that that is a difficult concept for you to understand, but try anyway. According to the statistics, had she lived in an Arab or Moslem country, she'd have been really lucky to reach the age of fifty. Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.12)
16. She lived a good life as an Israeli
I am proud she was one of our citizens.
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (12.22.12)
17. will the Sarah B troll get lost your make a fool of yourself

18. To No. 11
Your response to my typographical error simply reinforces my point.
Bertram ,   London, UK   (12.22.12)
19. An Israeli woman died, possibly the oldest in the world.
If a record is written somewhere, Israel has the world record for the longest living person ever. From the article it sounds she practiced the Muslim faith. She could have been a Sunni or Shia or Salafi Muslim, makes no difference. Israeli citizens can practice any faith they want, it makes no difference to being a citizen. She could have prayed in a synagogue or a church, as well as in a mosque, with the same rights for religious freedom under the law. It says she was Arab-Israeli, which means she was ethnically an Arab through her first language, her culture (folklore, group holidays, demeanor) and family heritage. Israel has immigrants from over fifty countries and is very diverse ethnically. She carried an Israeli id card, which is all that really matters. She was a pure Israeli.

20. The bible said we only get to live 120 years max...
... maybe the bible isn't a true revelation of god after all. Assuming this news story is true, of course. Genesis/Breishit 6:3 "Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in[a] man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” Note: Contrary to what the bible says, honouring your father and mother will NOT prolong your live at all. Exodus/Shemot 20:12
Rabbi Baruch Spinoza ,   Netherlands   (12.22.12)
21. To No. 15
Latest figures give a mean life expectancy for surrounding Arab states (plus the West Bank) of over 70. However, one shouldn't let facts spoil a good story - or, in your case, barely coherent verbiage.
Bertram ,   London, UK   (12.22.12)
22. Sarah B
I always considered American Jews a little lacking in gravitas, indeed light of head and intellect. I wondered if it were the water they drank. You are sadly unstable to hurl your insults at all comers and sundry. The guy from London wishing you happy Xmas was taking the piss out of you. As to call another Jelly brained, and yet another not the sharpest fork in the canteen, speaks for your instability, You are clearly being overdosed by medication. Calm down. and go and see a doctor
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (12.22.12)
23. .
One can only imagine how cranky Sarah B will become in her old age
Yossi ,   London   (12.22.12)
24. #20 ; Premature ejaculation is rampant
in Netherlands by the looks of things. Before 1900, births were not registered in the Ottoman empire. People at times used this to dodge the army service. More often than not, people did not know for sure the year of birth, or worse. The bible recounts a vast range of ages for its various personalities. relying on a trivial event to challenge a key work is not short of stupid
Tarbouche ,   Aswan   (12.22.12)
25. Jon UK #6 - What declining USA?
USA is still the only country that is inundated with legal and illegal immigrants from all over the worlds including UK, China, India etc. This includes untrained working class but also the best educated people from all over the world who are looking for academic freedom and the best research facilities. USA is still the biggest donor to underdeveloped countries. Lately unemployment rate declined to 7.7% and is expected to get better. USA is expected to become oil independent in 20 years and oil exporter in 30 years.
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.22.12)

Really? You need to learn to read between the lines, and see Sarah's responses were all proportionate to whiny comments such as 3.

28. 20Really? Some people in the bible ...
