The USA is not officially 6.5 million. There is no 'official'number that is credible. it depends on the agenda and the questions of who is doing the survey. A more realistic number is 5.5 million. 14-15 million is realistic-not 18 million, and certainly not 25 million.

This survey probably counted a good portion of the extended Jewish population in the diaspora, meaning the spouses of Jews (including those with insincere non-Orthodox conversions), as well as children who are not considered Jewish. Remember Bambi Sheleg's article from a few days back, mentioning that 5% of New Yorkers claiming to be Jews have no real Jewish ancestry? According to Professor Sergio DellaPergola, who is considered the greatest demographic expert on the Jewish people, the Jewish population grew by close to 90,000 in 2012. That would mean it's about 13.5 million. Which would mean that somewhere around 46% of Jews live in Israel (and only 54% live as minorities in the diaspora).

That number is not really reflective of the number of Jews in the world who might favor Israel, because it includes anti-Israel liberal American Jews.

But if you count by CULTURE, as they should, the number of "Jews" is much higher. Will someone sit down and decide who is a Jew before the last of the dosim evaporates into the thin air?
