1. Do you call that art?
Yosef ,   Boca Raton   (01.03.13)
the only thing that is ...except for the talmud pages is garbage, is hideous even if the gemara wasn't there
2. No outcry when MK destroyed a bible in Knessett
Arab-Christian   (01.03.13)
3. Excellent publicity
Bertram ,   London, UK   (01.03.13)
A cynic might suggest that the artist contacted the rabbinate knowing full well they would protest against these art works. A PR coup for the gallery!
4. Art can be anything today
Israeli grandma   (01.03.13)
As an observant Jew I do not see why the Rabbis have reacted so violently to use of Talmud pages in the exhibit. There are millions of copies of the Talmud in the world today, and they are being studied in the traditional manner. Our religion is strong enough to survive some pages of traditional text being used as "art". If on the other hand pieces of torah scroll were, involved, it would be a different matter. Also printed pages from the Talmud are inert, and "immodest" exhibits in the same gallery are totally irrellevant.
5. 4 These are not printed pages.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.03.13)
6. May these holy pages be unsold.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.03.13)
We don t want art dealers to cut pages from holy books and sell them as art.
7. looks like art to me
Ay   (01.03.13)
I'm sure it would, if the paper actually provided some clear picture of an actual art piece and not just the fragment with the page or a shot from the distance of the front of the gallery. Fanatics will cling to any reason to get riled up. How about rabbi Metzger and the worried folks get as riled up about agunot? Pages are worth more to them than people.
8. How are they threatened ?
Golan ,   NY   (01.04.13)
How exactly are they threatened? is it the Rabbi call to buy the artwork? Is it "sometimes" being met by protestors? what a load of B.S! Let's see her do the same with a Qoran and then she will see see what "threatened " really means.
9. God's 2Work.
Jase ,   Melbourne   (01.05.13)
If it is such an affront to god, surely He will deal with it in the fullness of time. The world is a worse place because people believe they are obligated to do their interpretation of God's work. Live your own life according to your own values and let God worry about others.
10. one more attempt to levell down our values
(01.06.13)
the key-word is ELSE... !! - all these provocations are made to levell down our values, our religion, our roots !
11. Holy Scriptures?
Joseph ,   London UK   (01.06.13)
Is it holy Scriptues or is it Talmud? It makes a difference. Does it have Shaimos [Names of G-d] or is it neutral? It looks like a page of Tamud in a glass container. Why is that art? If G-d fearing people buy these artworks to rescue them, won't that encourage others to hijack holy books for art work and ransom them?
12. Reply to 2. Old and New Testaments
Danny ,   London England   (01.06.13)
When the MK tore the missionary Bible, most Jews felt it was wrong and I recall he apologised. To us Jews missionaries in Israel are crossing a red line, trying to do inside the Jewish state what Christians did for so many centuries in Europe.
