Its been going on from the beginning of time. Some of us who are deeply buried in the hazer schmaltz of goyish living cant see the forest for the trees. Thus we have huge swaths of our Jewish population assimilating with the goy and over time disappearing from the Jewish nation. At the same time the goy keeps reminding the rest of us (those who have Jewish pride) that we can never be a goy. Its been going on for ages and will continue till the end of time.
