1. just the opposite is needed
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (12.30.12)
the religious soldiers should tour meah shariim every day in full uniform to let these rascals know that serving in the IDF is nothing to be ashamed of. Just the opposite, running away from scum who throw dirty diapers at those who defend them is revolting!!
2. Mea Shearim behavior
David ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.30.12)
For far too many decades the outrageous antics of the Eastern European and Baltic occupiers of Mea Shearim have been accommodated by the Israeli State, its politicians and citizens. It is high time to expel these occupiers and return them from whence they came. No doubt their moshiach will arrive one day and assist them in making aliyah when the time is ripe. In the interim, out with them !
3. Typical morality from the harideem
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (12.30.12)
About time those holligans were arrested and jailed as they quite obvioulsy are a danger to the public
4. The IDF soldiers in Mea Shearim neighborhood are known as
David ,   Israel   (12.30.12)
the infamous Israel Destruction Forces who destroy Jewish homes, Jewish livelihoods and Jewish souls. Can you expect a better welcome from this neighborhood who fear the consequences of such an unwelcome group? It is well known that the kindest and warmest people are hassidim and those from Mea Shearim. If Zionists come to their neighborhood dressed in IDF uniform they're just coming as provocateurs, to cause trouble.
5. Put 1 of so called "heredim" in JAIL 2 cool his friendsDOWN.

From the second alinea in your post I infer that you yourself are not a Zionist. Get the hell out then. If I am wrong, my apologies for the above recommendation. The young people who proudly wear the Tzahal uniform, do so out of desire to prevent a tragedy akin to the disaster that befell the Jewish people in the '40's from happening. A tragedy from which the families of these Haredim were not exempt, and a tragedy that will repeat itself (and the Haredim will find themselves subjected to) the very moment Israel's young people put aside their uniforms and start living the good life. Yet they are called Nazis? The sheer audacity is breathtaking. These diaper throwing leeches should crawl to the doorsteps of the parents of these chayalim who, after all, pay for the diapers their children found themselves pelted with and humbly, very humbly, beg for forgiveness. Why is it commonly known that the populace from Mea Shearim are the warmest and kindest around? Known by whom, pray? I have met many wonderful Haredim, but not many in Mea Shearim, I fear, although I am sure there are those who are. Visit Hoffys restaurant in Antwerp if you want to experience the Haredi warmth and humility the inhabitants you describe are so sorely lacking.
7. IDF should send minyan to pray with radical group
ma nishma ,   modiin   (12.30.12)
I think it would be wise to send IDF soldiers into Meah Shariim to pray en mass with these radical elements. Also make certain to send in some tough police officers to pray mincha and maariv at Toldos Aron, Neutura Karta and any other group that attacks the IDF. If they can not stand our boys, tough, let them lump it.
8. If only they could talk to each other..

"the infamous Israel Destruction Forces who destroy Jewish homes, Jewish livelihoods and Jewish souls." These are high school kids - not that your comment would have any merit even if they were adults. "It is well known that the kindest and warmest people are hassidim and those from Mea Shearim." Well known by whom - other Hasidim? I can't wait for these lunatics to inbreed themselves into oblivion. If it were within my power, I would stop all US aid to Israel until Netanyahu agreed to disenfranchise them.
10. Ora , they discussed with a rebbe
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.30.12)
And , even if i don't know you [ as an example ] i haven't any right to call you a nazi .

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.30.12)
In every business , when you pay a lot of money [ as is the case at Hoffy's ] you are received with warmth .
12. I must agree with David 4 a real Jewish patriot
Dovy ,   B.B.   (12.30.12)
who describes the IDF as it actually is and the reason charedim are not comfortable with them in Meah Sherim. Thank you David for sticking up for charedim.
13. disbelief
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (12.30.12)
I pass thru meah Shearim almost every day. One can see soldiers in uniform almost every day strolling down Meah Shearim street. I rarely see a patrol, however, but in ones and twos, they are there daily. I have never seen or heard anything like this, and i doubt the authenticity of this report.
14. to Charles
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (12.30.12)
Agreed, I suppose. Although their prices are most reasonable compared with any kosher restaurant (you still have some) in the Netherlands. I don't keep the kashrut myself, but if you are keeping a kosher home in the Netherlands, you had best be a doctor or a lawyer for the amount you are charged. I know, though, that the brothers at Hoffy's lately have been supporting the ratt poor Hassidic people (children mostly) in Antwerp out of their own coffers, which I like. And none there have a penchant for abusing people who walk in their neighbourhoods on shabbos, although you may be right that this should not necessarily be the norm to qualify as warm and humble.
15. 10 Charles,these religious soldiers..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.30.12)
are the elite of the IDF. Alevai all Israeli soldiers would behave like them. Yesterday some soldiers fired tear gas on children while evacuating Jews from an outpost. Do they have the right to do that ?
16. 11 Charles,The Hoffy s brothers..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.30.12)
are known for helping with much devotion sick Israeli people who come to Belgium for treatment.
17. Outlaw Violence, Move the Tombs
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (12.31.12)
Israel was to be the refuge for we Jewish people, of all religious streams, including secular. Look what its Orthodox have made it into, another Iran, and the Arab world. Guess its the proximity. Would the ultra-dare to behave similarly in the USA? Would they shrow feces at NYPD or LAPD or SFPD?Would they battle at US military forts ( like the Fort in Bklyn along the Belt Parkway?) or a marine base at El Toro, Ca? Wouydl theylay seige to a military bldg in Washington D.C..something like "Fort Apache" movie? The larger issue is the enclave of zealous Jews in Hebron, the real disgrace, while a rabbis tomb in Russian territory is visited each each to the taunts of the crowd, shekes spent by visitors. Resolution: harshsentencingfor violence, move the tomb to Israel, and close the tomb in Hebron to everyone. Send those zealots packing, asap. As part of a finaol agreement, negotiate its use, just as the Mount will be discussed.
18. That is REAL Torah right thete. The others are bred
hippocrates ,   Earth   (12.31.12)

19. Ora, protecting wrong act is like participating it!
Jew1 ,   Ashdod   (12.31.12)
All these haredim do want these troops to safeguard them when there is a war in Israel. They do want all those planes to make rounds in the sky to protect our borders. They do want those police and troops to protect them when they go to visit tombs in Arab areas, they do want all that monthly money to buy those dippers and that food on their table, they do want police to investigate all those child rape cases and find those pedophiles but do not want them to come and visit the rabbi who lives in those areas. Does torah teaches you to be ungrateful? No it does not but the outcome is seen in that way. Every country who tried to follow religion is doomed by fanaticism. See what is happening in surrounding countries and learn. Keep your religion in closed doors. Once you step out of house, those streets belongs to the state of Israel and they are open for all (even on Shabbat).
20. Ora
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.31.12)
Gabriel was not talking about this , but about the restaurant . They were very warm to me too , when taking much money for a little piece gefillte fish . Soldiers obey orders . Children have also to obey orders to evacuate an outpost . Their parents are in fault by letting them stay there .
21. Gabriel
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.31.12)
Most reasonnable prices ? Kosher food in Belgium was also very expensive . Certainly when compared to the supermarket where we bought our meat after our good butcher retired . That they support poor , many Jews do it . I was not walking in their neighborhood Shabbat , but in my neighborhood , with many ultra Orthodox , i was shouted "shabbes" more than once .
22. being called a nazi, and being blamed for violence...
jack bauer   (12.31.12)
the black hats should know better. When the arabs come to wipe us all out, I wonder will be black hats rock back and forth and mumble prayers while they are slaughtered like sheep? Will they march silently to their graves like many did before? I for one will give honor and respect to the IDF. Even though I despise many orders coming from the traitors that have been promoted in their ranks. Barak and his cronies did nothing but bad things. Just like mofaz and the other ilk before. But the average soldier is someone to be given respect, not curses. And these were just young kids. The black hats should be ashamed of their behavior. I for one want them to have freedom of speech, but respect is a two way street. So if they dont want me yelling at them they shouldnt yell at me

reaction on Atalena, when he and his men were attacked by Jews. He ordered his team not to fight back, because Jews don t fight Jews. He was a leader of vision, and for me the best Israel had.
24. 19 Jew1,how do you know what...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.31.12)
Haredim want.Did you ask them ? I don t condone evil acts, but i feel free to try to understand what caused these acts..
25. No, Israel should keep the Haredim
David   (12.31.12)
Jews wanted a Jewish nation, well, they got one. Now they will just have to live with this crap. That's what religious theocracies are all about. Extremism and violence between factions. Be careful what you wish for in the future.
26. Charles.
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (12.31.12)
Really, I wouldn't have thought that. Did they know you were Jewish? When I lived near the border I went to school in Brasschaat and my mother would always send me to Antwerp before the Chagim (only times we ate kosher) to purchase the necessary goods at the kosher stores in the Hassidic quarter near the central station because it was far cheaper (and better quality-wise) than what passed for kosher food in the Netherlands.
27. Ora ,
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.31.12)
I know the Altalena history . Begin was wrong by not obeying orders of the provisional governement that opposed a "army" , that would not obey the general orders , that comitted many terrorist acts . He made "peace" with Egypt , but also had to forcibly evacuate some 2500 Jewish settlers from the Sinai . The best Israel had ? He was on the right place in 1978 to make this peace , that's all he can be credited with .
28. Ora 24
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.31.12)
Jew1 hadn't to ask those haredim what they want , it's KNOWN to everyone who WANT to know it , who does not want to dissimulate it . There is NO reason to attack soldiers , nothing to understand . If you "feel free to try to understand" it , it's the same as condoning it . It's the same as "people" who want to understand why nazis murdered 6 million Jews .
29. Gabriel 26
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.31.12)
If they knew i was Jewish ? Of course , why should they otherwise shout ONLY to me , and not to other drivers ? They knew who i was . One was different , he always said "shabbat shalom" when he saw me leaving or entering my car , he is a Chabadnik .
30. 28 Charles discern nuances was..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.31.12)
never your best side. [the same as trying to understand why nazi s....] Mea Shearim people are far from being nazis. There are so many things which are known and are lies. The same lies you unveil. There is NO exCUSE for a Jew to fire with tear gas at Jewish children.
