The Technion Nobel prize winners worked at the Technion . Aumann was also teaching in the USA . Jews left Poland because of people as you are . Marie Curie left Poland because for her there was no place there [ maybe because she was a woman ? ] Those Jewish "soldiers" were volunteers and had most likely no military experience . Joselewicz later on was still a military , promoted to a colonel i think

Jews were WELCOMED in Turkey after their expulsion from Spain . The Turkish ruler even thanked the Spanish ones for the great gift he did . This Turkish ruler knew that Jews bring prosperity when accepted , and allowed to work . This is only one example . And what did Jews contribute to the USA in EVERY field ? Be it economy , arts , politics , justice , and so on . But in the USA they were FREE to live , to study , with the known results .

Poland had no educational system ? , of course , there was nobody , exept the Jews , who could educate . Economy in ruins ? because Jews were not allowed to build some economy . To defend herself from invading Soviets in those 20 years ? They invaded Poland at the end of those 20 years , together with your friends , the nazis .

Regarding Nobel prizes . Poland has "earned" 15 of them , with 30 million inhabitants , 6 of them awarded to Jews , two to Marie Curie who achieved her studies and worked in France . Jews , with half the Polish population , earned 170 Nobel prizes . In the USA , a country that allowed Jews to enter , to live and study , Jews were awarded 30 % of chemistry , 53 % of economy , 27 % of literature , 39 % of medecine and 37 % of physics USA Nobel prize winners . This out a population of a 2 % of the US one .

Justine   (01.07.13)
Charles, you're taking it way too far. Too say that Jews contributed a lot is one thing, to claim that Poland could not have education or economy without Jews is preposterous. Poland was not independent and free to develop in 19th century and it was ruined in both world wars and affected by the great depression. Today its economy have been developing for 20 years and population is very well educated even if there are few Jews.
66. 61 - left Poland because of people as you are

Aumann was born and lived in Germany never been to Poland have moved to US with his parents in late '30's where got educated and spend most of his productive life working as an educator and scientist ,...

They were allowed to stay not welcomed or invited, get your facts straight - By the way in return they stabbed the Otomans in the back by financing Ataturk ;) ,...

Poland was attacked by Soviets in 1919–1921, shortly after regained her independence from occupational powers after 147 years on non existence on the map ,... It wasn't exactly their (occupiers) priority to keep the Poles educated and strong economically

Whatever happened during partitions, and I don't know enough to judge about the extent of the phenomenon, it doesn't change the fact that the prohibition, for Jews, to own land during the first republic was highly discriminatory. And things like that might have impacted loyalty afterwards
70. #58 They absolutely did own land
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.08.13)
The land was confiscated by Polish authorities who seized the opportunity to take what did not belong to them. Interestingly enough, I was just reading about ways to reclaim Jewish property. That should be an interesting project.

To Charles. After reading your biased and generally baseless comments about Poland and the Poles I have to admit that from today the Jews have one more sworn enemy. That's me!

The result of the Paris Peace Conference did little to decrease the territorial ambitions of parties in the region. Józef Piłsudski sought to expand the Polish borders as far east as possible in an attempt to create a Polish-led federation to counter any potential imperialist intentions on the part of Russia or Germany . Who attacked then ?

Welcomed in the 1490's . Ataturk FOUR centuries later . The Turkish ruler thanked the spanish one . Is that not more than "allowed to stay" ? He knew what he did by receiving those Jews , they brought prosperity .

I was talking about ISRAELI nobel prize winners . Aumann joined the Hebrew Univ in Jerusalen aged 26 , and worked there , where he produced his works . He was also teaching in the US , his knowledge was needed as was needed the knowledge of all the other Jews

should i believe you?
78. Roman , sad to say
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.08.13)
That i had to respond in this way to this split . Did the Poles issue a numerus clausus directed against the Jews at the Warsaw Univ , or not ? Did the Polish governement issue a ban on Jewish businnesses ? Yes or not ? Baseless comments ? That Poles were mostly illiterated ? That Jews made up a vast quantity of doctors and lawyers in Poland ? That six of the 15 Polish Nobel prize winners were Jews ? Biaised ?
79. @ 78
Konrad ,   Warsaw   (01.08.13)
Dear Charles, Numerus clausus is not identical with numerus nullus. Period.
80. Roman , a big difference between us
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.08.13)
No split nor roman will make me hate the Poles in the same way as this split does against the Jews . There were , and are , OTHER Poles who contrary to both of you deserve much respect . Beginning with the more than six thousand Brave Poles who risked their , and their family's , lives in order to save Jews and ending with the Guide my daughter had when visiting your town last November . And all the other Fine Poles who lived between those black years and today

Here's some ammo for a jerks like him, google "Poland Emerges as a Central European Powerhouse', good article at Spiegel, also that's hard for them to swallow, according to Pearson's Global Index of Cognitive Skills and Educational Attainment, (that's a total score of PISA, TIMSS and PIRLS in Reading, Maths and Science) where out of 39 tested countries Israel comes 29th, far behind Poland, US, Russia - Poland came 14th , US 17th and Russia 20th,...
83. to 72 - What a loss...
Justine   (01.08.13)
Roman, so you're telling us that you have changed your world outlook and will now start to hate an entire people because somebody posted something you disagree with on the internet? Do you always form opinions in such a "sophisticated" way? Now, seriously, everybody understood that you're just a plain, old anti-Semite, but you've chosen a pretty lame way to make it known.

"for Jews, to own land during the first republic was highly discriminatory" - That's why I added "self-governed Poland or any other western country at that time including America' to underline that Poland wasn't some isolated Island in this case ,... "And things like that might have impacted loyalty afterwards" - You have 109 other instances since 250 AD just in Europe to prove that's not the case. I suggest take your white glowes off with this people - Most of them here are a Pavka Morozov like zionist hasbara goons, they're not here to listen to your supported by facts and numbers presentation, they're here to splash their 'polack' hasbara crap against the wall hoping that at the end of the day some of it is going to stick to it. I can take a bet that next time on this subject they're going to be here to rehash the same discredited 'arguments' despite your and other's efforts to correct it.
85. 74 - Welcomed in the 1490's . Ataturk FOUR centuries later .
split ,   US   (01.08.13)
Allowed - Show me that letter it exist only in your hasbara fairy tales. Four centuries or four days later doesn't change the fact that in return you stabbed them in the back just like you stabbed the Spaniards, Poles and other nations.

Check when those claususes got passed in Sejm and implemented then google "Béla Kun" to find out why. Poles prevented them from taking over their country like in Hungary in reality they just postponed to post WWII time where Stalin's Jewish goons hijacked election and took over government.

Spare me your step dancing pal, there was a full scale war in 1919–1921 on Polish soil and the Soviets were the aggressors not the other way around - The Germans are out of the picture in this case but Soviets knowing that Poland is venerable took an advantage of it and got their ass kicked all the way to Moscow. They underestimated Polish spirit and their will to keep their re-born country. Google "Miracle at the Vistula" and read all about it ,...
88. Sprotje . Correction
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.08.13)
Of the 15 "Polish" Nobel prizes , 8 EIGHT , not six , were Jewish : Rotblat , Hurwicz , Charpak , Hoffman , Singer , Schally , Peres and Reichstein . They were Polish by birth , nothing more .
89. Turkey and Jews , II
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.08.13)
Sultan Bayazid II's offer of refuge gave new hope to the persecuted Sephardim. In 1492, the Sultan ordered the governors of the provinces of the Ottoman Empire "not to refuse the Jews entry or cause them difficulties, but to receive them cordially." According to Bernard Lewis, "the Jews were not just permitted to settle in the Ottoman lands, but were encouraged, assisted and sometimes even compelled". Immanual Aboab attributes to Bayazid II the famous remark that "the Catholic monarch Ferdinand was wrongly considered as wise, since he impoverished Spain by the expulsion of the Jews, and enriched Turkey."
90. Some numbers
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.08.13)
GDP/capita Israel # 26 . 31,467 US$ Poland # 45 20184 . IMF stats 2011 . Overal technology index : Israel 4th , patents per head Israel 5th . Israel has 125 engineers per 10,000 people [ US 85 ] No mention of Poland in those stats .
