1. It's not like murder, it is murder.
Yosi ,   Gilo-Jerusalem   (01.07.13)
2. In Canada, Dr Morgentaler,
Walt K ,   Sherbrooke, Canada   (01.07.13)
Fought for the right for the women to chose. He stood straight up in front of the Church... and won ! He prefered going to jail instead to stay his arms crossed.
3. It's not murder at all
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.07.13)
when done in the first months of pregnancy . Efrat could avoid 4000 abortions this year ? More than TEN every day ? Difficult to believe . What those "rabbis" forget , is that NO woman is happy to have an abortion , it's a difficult physical and psychological issue , and it they have it done , they have serious reasons .
4. Law of man-slayer and murder.
Jarvis ,   Joseph USA   (01.07.13)
Murder. The woman has to hate the unborn fetus, something that is may or may not be the case since the mother does not know the fetus. Man-slayer. Generally comes as a result of a uncontrollable conditions. It is a touchy situation. Women should be able to make the decision, However I think the Lord commanded the women to have children with her husband in Genesis. It is something I don't think a man can properly Judge because he is not a woman. The command is thou shall not murder because killing does not imply that it was done with evil intent.
5. An opinion is not law
camille ,   miami   (01.07.13)
Men telling women how to dress, how to speak, how to have relations, how how to raise children, etc...
6. Who shreds tombola tickets before..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.07.13)
the drawing lots? Thanks G-D i didn t listen to my doctor who advised me to abort because of my advanced age. I won the big prize !
7. When did Metzger and Amar convert to Christianity?
Dr. Guy ,   Washington, DC, USA   (01.07.13)
I fail to see where in Halachah abortion is considered to be murder. These "rabbis" are basing their flawed arguments on the basis of Christian religious beliefs, and as such, I suspect they are promoting Christianity, not Judaism.
8. I do understand why they would promot
Jarvis ,   Joseph USA   (01.07.13)
They promote against pregnancy termination because its good for the Jewish population. I don't think its because of religious reason.
9. Jarvis #4
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (01.07.13)
Evil can be done with or without intent. It doesn't take a women to know right from wrong. I think most abortions are done for convenience. For some doctors it's a very lucrative business.
10. # 5
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (01.07.13)
Very well said, Camille
11. #9 Jarvis
Jarvis ,   Joseph USA   (01.07.13)
5 days "Good", On completion of the work of the sixth day. "Very Good" No woman for man "Not Good" Tree of Good AND (not or) Evil. I totally disagree with you that evil can be done with out intent. That would simply be "Not Good" As murder is evil and killing is "Not Good". Thus sayeth the LORD and they shall put the evil from amongst them and it shall not come to mind anymore. The day will come when "good" just is.
12. #5 majority of women oppose abortions
Golan ,   Modiin   (01.07.13)
So does that mean that abortion should be illegal? Majority of women are against it? that means the majority of men are FOR it... the majority supporting abortion have no right to that opinion (according to your logic.)
13. #5 fanatics
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.07.13)
In Israel, it is fanatic men and women who put pressure on vulnerable women to terminate their pregnancy. Efrat is the one organization that gives the women kindness, listens to them, asks them what they fear. Sometimes it is just loneliness. Sometimes is is money. When possible, Efrat helps. I challenge you to find one of the 25000 people saved who regrets that Efrat helped their mother not abort them. Some of these 25000 are doctors, nurses, social workers. I challenge you to find any of their patients who wishes that they were not born. Some of these 25000 are IDF soldiers, pilots, police. I challenge you to find any of the people they protected that wishes they were not born.
14. efrat is not strictly anti-abortion
david ,   new york   (01.07.13)
at times they have actually advised it to clients, but their goal is to make sure that women do not have abortions because they dont have the money for a kid (a very common reason). acticle is distorted in that it does not mention at all efrat's very balanced view of the subject.
15. Something to consider...
Moshe ,   U.K   (01.07.13)
Unlike Christianity and other religions, Judaism is not and has never been based on emotions. Putting forward an argument which is based on ones own emotional beliefs does not count...it would have to be based on intrinsic knowledge of the matter and all it's rabbinical sources as well as all the up to date scientific literature to be considered a valid argument...which definitely discredits me straight out...
16. a woman's right to choose
iselin ,   Oslo, Norway   (01.07.13)
No man has a clue about what a woman goes through in an unwanted pregnancy. Her right to an abortion should be protected. It is her choice and no one else's. If these men want unwanted babies to be born, they should queue up to adopt them. According to the book "Freakonomics", crime rates in the US dropped substantially around 18 years after the right to an abortion was made law. Fewer unwanted children = fewer troubled youth = less crime.
17. Ideal Aims
Zechariah   (01.07.13)
For The Jews a population explosion is mandatory and the Pill ought be Banned .The Rich Gallus and Israeli Moguls ought pay the Bills but they love Luxery that's Ok it creates Jobs but Half ought go to Benevolent causes Most to Israel.
18. #3 - Charles
Devorah   (01.07.13)
What were you in the first months of your mother's pregnancy?
19. Upon Conception--period!!!
Taz Man ,   USA   (01.08.13)
God's Word clearly intimates a fetus is a person upon conception! God'll judge all those doctors' and nurses' who are complicit with this blatant act of murder. He'll will also judge those women' who, out of convenience, destroy the blessing God has bestowed upon them; also, regardless, of the circumstances on how it happened. That unborn child has the right-to-life...more than a woman has a right-to-her-body--period! To ALL those who condone this murderous act, they, too, will answer for it--you godless heathens!!!
20. to #18
iselin ,   Oslo, Norway   (01.08.13)
Every one of us on earth, you included, was just a bundle of cells with potential to become a human being, but nowhere near that yet, when our mothers were 3 months pregnant. Once a fetus can survive on its own, it can be called a baby.
21. #13 Israeli Israeli if only your mother had a choice
Eli ,   tel aviv   (01.08.13)
22. #20 - iselin
Devorah   (01.08.13)
When I want your opinion, I will give it to you. You are disgusting.
23. The earth needs more trees.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.08.13)
24. Devorah 18
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.08.13)
Just , as you and everyone , a foetus not able to live yet . Why is Iselin disgusting ?

26. Efrat
joan ,   ramat aviv   (01.08.13)
I thought an intelligent decision depends upon hearing all the options. Then a woman can make her own decision.
27. 23Right Michael,but trees with roots.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.08.13)
28. abortion
naim ,   miami us   (01.08.13)
I believe in the bible and live by it since my childhood, that rabbi deserves my deep respect , we christians expect that kind of attitude from the jewish faith, specially us the arab evangelicals.May The almighty bless him.
29. What does the Bible say?
Dan ,   K"S   (01.08.13)
Below is the English KJ translation: It explicitly excludes women who fight. It does not cover anything but "fighting men". If the men are not fighting, or are fulfilling the women's wishes, it is not covered. 22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
30. #27, More Haredim in America than in Israel.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.08.13)
Roots schmoots. If it wasn't for the government money handouts, very few Haredim would have "roots" in Israel. They can live anywhere with their texts, they don't need a country to serve. Enough for them is to recite "b'shana ha'baa ..." once a year.
