Well put! One rule based on authentic, time-tested Torah values. It's the time that authentic Torah values reign in this Jewish state.

Forget the older haredim. They get a pass and it's simply time to start with ALL 18 year olds in Israel: either army or some form of national service. That means secular, haredi and Arab. All of 'em. It's time for the Arabs to understand that spending a year in community work is a good thing that will raise their standards just as it will the standards in the haredi communities. And the secular draft-dodgers will also have to find meaningful work to serve their country - then they can go back to their trance parties. The majority of Jews, Arabs, Druze, Bedouin, Religious and Secular who all do their national service with pride are fed up with the excuses from those sectors of society who think that serving their community is shameful. The shame is on them. Let's start next year with committing all 18-year-olds in Israel to the form of national service they choose.
