1. Mr. Weisglass has a short memory
Cynic #2   (01.10.13)
Palestine is not waiting for recognition by Israel. It has the number 194 at the UN and this number is not coincidental either. Even those countries who abstained, the abstention is an implicit YES.
2. Open up Area C as a test
Zivron   (01.10.13)
Open up area C at 10% a year to the Palestinians in exchange for dedhimminizatiion of the Jews in Islamic education and I formation.make Holocaust and Nakba denial a felony to be fined.Observe go slowly the batters need to defrost .
3. what utter poppycock!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.10.13)
dear mr weissglass, get it through your peacenik head that oslo is not only dead, it was stillborn, as just another ploy in yasser arafat's war against israel. and no amount of israeli appeasement will revive it. you cite ariel sharon, but fail to draw the logical conclusion: the disengagement from gaza brought israel 10,000 qassams, not peace. the paletinian anarchy (or "state of palestine") does not want "stability" as you or i understand it, but rather a continuation of the "struggle", which legitimizes, and perpetuates, the current kleptocracy. their ever-increasing demands are a testament to the fact that they cannot make peace with israel, without destroying their raison d'etre, and the lucrative gravy train that is feeding them and their hamullah. more concessions only lead to yet more demands. the only road to peace is to end the (plo) occupation.
4. Dov Weisglass
Volvi   (01.10.13)
You are the very last person anyone in Israel or World Jewry for that matter should listen to. You are the last person anyone should take advice from. It was you who persuaded Arik Sharon to expel all Jews from Gaza and you are calling for the same for Judea and Samaria. Hasnt the penny (asimon) dropped for you? Havent you got it yet? Or are you one of those that cannot bring themselves to admit that they were utterly wrong. You are no different then Yossi Beilin. We dont hear a peep from him these days, I wonder why? Why then do we hear a peep from you? You should be cowering in shame for the great damage that you personally have caused Israel. Could it be that you are paid by other nefarious forces around the world who seek Israels distruction? Dont you get it that you are totally insignificant on the debate and your opinions count for absolute nothing. Go join Thomas Friedman on his paper and espouse your nonsense there, you have a better chance of being heard. Whereas here amongst Israelis.....we know better! So do us all a favour and with all due respect, get lost!
5. Weisglass's ties with P.A.
Rina ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.10.13)
Anything Weissglass says must be viewed within the context of his financial interests with the PA, past and present.
6. Another "put the Palestinians on a diet" solution
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.10.13)
...give them just enough hope, so that they don't riot.
7. Is Weisglass an idiot, self destructive or both?
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.10.13)
Weisglass wants Israel to return to the lunacy of Oslo; which cost Israel tens of thousands of maimed and murdered civilians. Weisglass wants to reduce Israel's waist to nine miles (15 minutes by tank). Weisglass wants to pretend our genocidal enemies are our friends. Is Weisglass, and his fellow travellers, idiots, self destructive or both?
8. There is no roadmap
Sam ,   Texas   (01.10.13)
Abbas repudiated it. The only roadmap is to arm yourself, because you are going to fight for your very survival against those who would cut off your head in a NY minute
9. How about we go back to the London Agreement?
Jake ,   USA   (01.10.13)
10. More Leftist Betrayal
Yildiz ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.13)
Sharon betrayed the voters to save his skin from indictment. That is why Sharon left Gaza. Weisglass was his henchman. Contrary to Weisglass's warnings, a PA state is not inevitable, and his defeatist ideology should be treated with the contempt it richly deserves.
11. I have a much better idea - one that works
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.10.13)
Let's go back to pre-Oslo and then we won't have armed Arabs attacking and killing us. The Arabs will never ever make peace - we have to impose it on them. There is no other solution that will ever work
12. Stupid Idea
Bill Stein ,   USA   (01.10.13)
Stupid Idea More Appeasement
13. Ignore leftists and their idiotic statements
Rachel ,   US   (01.10.13)
This guy is one of the founders of the Gaza disengagement. That turned out so well.
14. Where would this NEW State be located?
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (01.10.13)
The PA want a State free of Jews and the West Bank contains over a half million of them. And they can't be removed. Please stop this silly journalistic nonsense! The two State solution died with the dinosaurs.
15. Peace?
Geoff ,   London (UK)   (01.10.13)
Can Israel possibly offer any more than she offered at Taba exactly 12 years ago - or what Olmert offered in 2008? If the Palestinians genuinely wanted to live with Israel rather than replace it, we could have had peace a long time ago.
16. Road Map
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (01.10.13)
Unless Jordan and PA merge together to establish a unified country there is no room for a third country to emerge in the space available, given the differences in culture, religion, etc... Nothing else will be practical. If Gaza wants to be connected to them they can build a tunnel.
17. Air is ful with air and fumes for multiple reasons
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.10.13)
1. Palestenian high expectations create by Mr. Abass with UN BS 2. Unfinished business with Hamas 3. Rise of Islamic Brothood to power and extremization of Arab World Don't let all political or speculative manipulations to screen the real causes for further pleas see bellow. PLO Charter Article 20: The Balfour Declaration, the Mandate for Palestine, and everything that has been based upon them, are deemed null and void. Claims of historical or religious ties of Jews with Palestine are incompatible with the facts of history and the true conception of what constitutes statehood. Judaism, being a religion, is not an independent nationality. Nor do Jews constitute a single nation with an identity of its own; they are citizens of the states to which they belong.
18. Game of trickery is over.
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (01.10.13)
Palestine is a state in the 67 borders. What is coming now is sanctions on Israel and the solution of the refugee problem.
19. Road Map is defunct
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.10.13)
The Road map led Israel off cliff. It is a proven failure. We need a new map, one that leads to peace. We need to try peace for peace, not land for peace.
20. Wiesglass
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.10.13)
February 2011, Feiglin published an article titled "Weisglass is not a traitor" describing how Weisglass became very rich from the disasterous "peace process" . The reader was left with the impression that Weisglass was. I was hoping the Weisgalss would sue Feiglin for libel, or at least answer the accusations. Weisglass, we are still waiting.
21. Back to the Road Map?
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (01.10.13)
Certainly they both need a map because Abbas and Netanyahu are both lost like sheep with nowhere to go Abbas who thinks that all this 'show' the UN fiasco, the ridiculous unity talks makes a difference on the ground And Netanyahu who uses his spoiler tactics to avert talks What a fiasco The answer is glaringly obvious. PA needs to take the initiative and call Netanyahus bluff. Get the talks going..without preconditions after the elections and the rest will follow
22. Seen that movie. Also see Weisglass's tinfoil helmet
Jews for Peaces ,   Israel   (01.10.13)
23. Abbas uses TomTom,not road map.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.10.13)
That funny little voice keeps telling Abbas to keep on going straight ahead for........ CRAAAASH!! THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
24. Provisional borders.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.10.13)
Provisional borders for a future Palestinian Arab State should be very minimal.Experience shows that even provisional agreements are later presented by Fatah as firm commitments made by Israel. If I might suggest, how about Gaza and Jericho as a first go at provisional borders and expansion if they lead to peaceful co-existence?Worth a try, isn't it? Oh hang on. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
25. What about Phase 1?
eretz   (01.11.13)
I am confused. The Roadmap had 3 "phases". Mr. Weissglass seems to skip the first one (as do the Arabs, and their supporters.) Phase I (as early as May 2003): End to Palestinian violence; Palestinian political reform; Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian cities and freeze on settlement expansion; Palestinian elections. This included: The total dismantling of all Palestinian militant groups, collection of all illegal weapons and their destruction. Cessation of violence and incitement against Israel, The provisional Palestinian state as a demilitarized state, and Israeli control of the entry and exit of all persons and cargo, plus its airspace and electromagnetic spectrum (Radio, television, radar, etc.) Declaration of Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state, as well as the waiver of any right of return of refugees to Israel Issues pertaining to the final settlement such as Israeli settlement in "Judaea, Samaria" (West Bank) and Gaza (excluding a settlement freeze and illegal outposts), the status of the Palestinian Authority and its institutions in Jerusalem, and all other matters pertaining to the final settlement will not be discussed prior to the final settlement talks. No reference other than the key provisions of U.N. Resolution 242 and 338.
26. Road map is dead end
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.14.13)
There has been no example of the Palestinians wanting peace with Israel. Not even one example. OSLO was a trick and the following years of terrorism planned. There is no benefit to Israel in giving up it's homeland to it's enemies.
