1. Incredible:ONLY 11 years after 9/11 and somebody's waking up
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.09.13)
in AMEERIIKA...!
2. Despicable
Sol ,   Champaign   (01.09.13)
This is what they used to do to us! Associate us all with the actions of a few, to justify their bigotry! We have overcome this, and whatever the conflicts may be, this is NOT acceptable!
3. Another stupid idea
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (01.09.13)
The Koran can be quoted for and against peaceful co-existence. Why identify the Koran with terrorists only? Are most American Muslims terrorists? Wasn't 9 / 11 produced by mainly Saudis like billionaire bin Laden?
4. But these ads might offend the President
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (01.09.13)
And then in his heart he'll blame the Zionist lobby.
5. Ridiculous
Ferdinand ,   France & Israel   (01.09.13)
This is utterly ridiculous. Throughout recent history, Muslims have killed innocent people and Christians have killed innocent people. And even though on a much smaller scale, Jewish terrorists like Goldstein have killed people. It would be outrageous to put up ads blaming Judaism for what Goldstein did, it would be outrageous to put up ads blaming Christianity for what Hitler did and it is equally outrageous putting up ads blaming Islam for what Al-Qaeda did.
6. @1: Not Waking Up, Cutting Red Tape
emanon ,   USA   (01.09.13)
It just took all that time to get through the red tape needed to get the message out there. America is such a lawsuit prone society, they needed so many legal reviews before corporate permission could be granted to allow this to happen.
7. #5 regarding Hitler and Al-Qaeda
Alan ,   Beer Sheva   (01.09.13)
Nice rhetorical flourish Ferdinand. The French Intellectuals would be proud of you. However, Hitler did not kill innocent people in the name of Jesus. So, your argument is entirely without merit, as is your concluding statement.
8. saying or writing truth is not being anti-muslim
jerome ,   basalt, colorado   (01.09.13)
all muslims are not terrorists, but 99% of terrorists are muslims!
9. Adds are not anti-Muslim
Steve   (01.09.13)
If AP wants to argue the adds are "anti-Islam" or anti-authoritative Islam; the Islam of the Qur'an and the prophet Muhammad, fine. The verse from the Qur'an, "Soon we will cast terror into the hearts of the unbelievers," that and similar verses are marching orders to devout Muslims that they must wage violent jihad against non-believers. AP wrote, "another ad implied enemies of Israel are savages. The enemies of Israel that butchered the Fogel family March 2011 (Udi Fogel, 36, Ruth Fogel, 35, and their children Yoav, 11, Elad, 4, and three-month-old Hadas), these were not savages? Devout Muslims who flew planes into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon on 9/11 (who slit the throats of flight attendants and the pilots) they were not savages? The earlier ad read: “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel.” Apparently AP does not like the term "savage." If you don't like being called a savage, don't behave like a savage.
10. # and #5 almost 20,000 incidents since 9/11
bob ,   ny   (01.09.13)
there have been almost 20,000 terrorist incidents around the world since 9/11--all perpetrated by Muslims basing their actions on Muslim scriptures. This fact alone makes you sound naive at best.
11. #7 Adam, read up
Ferdinand ,   Israel & France   (01.09.13)
Adam, Hitler certainly claimed to defend Christianity. And if you read the writings of Martin Luther, the founder of Germany's main church, you'll find the seeds of nazism right there. Luther urged his followers to burn synagogues, rob the Jews of their possesions, gather Jews in labor camps, burn Jewish books and to kill anyone who practiced the Jewish faith. All those points were made by Martin Luther in his books. Despite that, I would not blame all Christians for it, just as I would not blame all Muslims for 9/11
12. So for 11 years Americans were told they've been attacked by
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.09.13)
"TERROR"..! just like that: faceless, orphaned "terror". nice done Allah! Next logical step would be to declare Islam a fascist, political ideology instead of "Religion". Inserting the word "god" gets you quite far, it seems.
13. U can't deny where Islam is driving to
Tambour ,   Eilat   (01.09.13)
Irrespective of who does what to whom, the majority of Muslims seem to be happy to go along with those who have radicalised Islam to go on a warpath in a direction threatening world with terror and domination, towards the dark ages
14. #2 sol
aaron ,   toronto,canada   (01.09.13)
BUT TRUE
15. #5
aaron ,   toronto,canada   (01.09.13)
Muslim terrorism has been going on for decades around the world, first was the suicide dumbdumbs then there are the cheap explosive devises and only by muslims. They keep training their children and their children's children and you say don't put all muslims in the same basket,I say when caught change the laws around the world that guilty to terrorrism bring castration so no 72 virgins that should stop them.Did you know that in the early first intifada the suicide bombers that died had their privates wrapped in a towel so it would be possible to do his virgins(dumb assholes).
16. Sol # 2
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (01.09.13)
The truth is always acceptable.
17. Questions For Saul #2
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte   (01.09.13)
Saul, can you give us some more information? Are you saying that the line in the Koran has been taken out of context? If so, where do we turn to find out the 'correct' interpretation of the verse? To give you some context, Orthodox Jews turn to the Talmud to help them interpret the Torah. Where do Muslims turn to help them interpret the Koran? How about taking this opportunity to educate us?
18. The ad only reminds us what Muslim leaders are teaching
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.09.13)
The Quran is chock-full of statements encouraging and justifying violence against "non-believers". This is what Islamic "scholars" have taught from Mohammed's day, through the Middle Ages, to today. You'll hear such incitement on the streets of Cairo, in mosques across the world, and on al-Jazeera from the lips of Qaradawi, a leading voice of the Muslim Brotherhood - all quoting verses from the Quran! As to the "quiet majority" of Muslims, they may not engage in violence themselves, but there's strong support for it. Independent polling shows broad support for sharia law (including the death penalty for apostasy and "blasphemy"), rule by a Caliphate, and hatred of Jews and Christians - not just among the Arabs of the Middle East, but among the "moderate" Muslims of Indonesia and the young Muslims of the UK!
19. Terrorism
Bertram ,   London, UK   (01.09.13)
Terrorism is perpetrated by those holding to extremist, fanaticist views i.e by those who 'know' they are right, that everyone else must be wrong, and that the ends justify the means. Accordingly, there have been terrorists who act in the name of Islam, Zionism, communism, fascism, Irish republicanism, Basque nationalism .....etc. Any ideology - religious or otherwise - can be, and have been, used to justify horrendous acts.
20. Shoukd say 'more ads against Muslim RADICALS in NYC'...
Wes ,   Canada   (01.09.13)
21. to #3 Bin laden was from Yemen, not Saudi
ghostq   (01.09.13)
and all of terror attack around the world r done by muslim mass murderers.
22. read the whole Quran
holy warrior ,   uk   (01.09.13)
Rather than just taking some idiots out of context sentance and attributing it to all muslims.
23. there were muslim units in the nazi army.
ghostq   (01.09.13)
in the balkan, initiative of the grand mufti of Jerusalem. Hitler was not religious he was in the occult. he adopted Nord symbols.
24. To No. 21
Bertram ,   London, UK   (01.09.13)
Trivial I know, but typical of so many who seem to take pride in not checking facts. Bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
25. The jihadi
Zechariah   (01.09.13)
The Jihadi ought to get out out of Europe and the USA fast. The tolerance and human Rights Liberalism is being stretched and a backlash is coming.
26. Not all moslems are terrorists,
A ,   Belgium   (01.09.13)
but most terrorists are moslems. Anyone care to refute that point?
27. It's called truth in advertising
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.09.13)
It is not polemic, it happens to be accurate. We know who was responsible for the destruction that was wrought on September 11, 2001, and we know who was responsible. There is nothing wrong with the advertisement. It is accurate and it is truthful. If it offends someone with a private agenda -- too bad. Unlike the Europeans, which have tailored their concept of freedom of expression to loud and violent Moslem minorities, most Americans do not have a problem with dissemination of the truth.
28. Same as saying "All jews are money-hungry"
(01.09.13)
29. Excellent reminders & instructive material...
Harry Wright ,   UK   (01.09.13)
...for the uninformed. Islam is the greatest threat to peace in the world today. It has spawned radicalism, terrorism and supremacism. It seeks to engulf nations by stealth (eg. in the western world) or by force (eg. on the African continent). It reared its ugly head at various points in history, as it is doing today. The tragedy will be in ignoring, denying or concealing the diabolic phenomenon until it is too late (as it already is in Europe). It is still inconceivable to many in the US that the threat posed by Islam to them is real in this day and age. It is so much more comfortable to attribute terrorist acts against them as isolated incidents of a very few radicals. After all, their government tells them that, so they can relax and continue their conversations on their smart phones, watch videos and play games while the phenomenon creeps onward. If the ads raise awareness of the dangers of a violent religion, then there is value in them.
30. So what is the objective of the adds?
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (01.09.13)
Though I wouldn't disagree that recent terrorism has been committed by Muslims, there are a few corrections and points to be made. The "jihadists" of 9/11 were not particularly religious (apparently they drank and ate haram foods), so the truth is likely more that some elements are using Islam as an excuse to comit their crimes and not the other way around. What I fail to see is what good do the adds do? Those that agree, already know this, those that don't won't be persuaded by the adverts, so that just leaves offending peaceful Muslims who may be examining their situation and who they support. In my opinion, a net negative impact. Just wait.. some enterprising lefty will now post adds with lines from the Torah depicting intolerance towards others. (Gays for example). This is NOT a good campaign. It might feel good, but it does NO good.
