1. Mr.Ophir:don't forget the stupidity of Israeli voter, who
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.18.13)
until now has voted him/herself out of places like Hebron, Yericho! The fact that imbecillic and failed politicians can still obtain (at least in polls) some traction bodes bad for our country. But hey: we live for the surprises, right?
2. Crazies in Republicans
Zecharia   (01.18.13)
Obama did his best certainly in domestic policies and was lucky the Republicans were so uncompromising on economic justice .He is naive with what the Palestinians demand Right of return and expulsion and massacres in revenge for humiliation by the hated dhimi Jews .
3. Obama's full time job is destroying America.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.18.13)
4. Oh Please, Goldberg wasn't really quoting Obama
Hostage ,   USA   (01.18.13)
He was writing another of his own stupid analysis pieces and arguing against his own straw man.
5. OK... let's see how this bluster -prediction works out...
Rafi ,   US   (01.18.13)
6. Obama is not a rational individual
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (01.18.13)
obama acts based not on reason, but based on emotions. obama hates netanyahu, so he will attack netanyahu regardless of the consequences.
7. More Israeli myopia
StevieT ,   USA   (01.18.13)
Obama's popularity is rising in the recent polls. A huge core of Americans hang on his every word. There is no equity in 'taking him on' or dismissing him lightly. As America goes, so goes Israel. Attacks on Obama are attacks on his supporters. Get it?
8. The writer is right on point.
Ira G. ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.18.13)
I have been undecided until today. I think this article drives home the need to vote for Bibi.. I am in the center. The concept of left and right is silly. The left, Labor, put us in the stachim, and the right got us out of the territories, so who should u vote for. I guess telling Obama to keep his mouth shut requires a vote for Bibi. I am no longer undecided.
9. Obama needs to appease Arabs and Europeans
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.18.13)
Obama is the best US president to Israel in the last 40 years. Israel could not ask for a better one. Likud will get the mandate but not because of what Obama said. Bibi will get the mandate because there is no one else for Israel to turn to that is reliable.
10. I stand with the Prime Minister
michael Pielet ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.18.13)
The interesting thing is that the President does not speak to a nobody, Goldberg. The whole incident is a hoax made up by Goldberg in coalition with the israeli left and israeli press. This time unethical Israeli politics, dirty tricks, appears to have bakfired.
11. Obama, master of catastrophy.
kikar hamedina   (01.18.13)
YossiYYou failed in Lybia and thus reinforced Quaida in Mali, now half the country is under Islamic terrorists. You are impotent in Syria leading to a huge human tragedy. You helped to push out Mubarak and got more chaos and the sharia in Egypt. Good job. Now stop meddling with Israel.
12. Until Bibi can do more than run his mouth and play defense
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (01.18.13)
Naftali Bennet will get my vote, despite Obama's mudslinging.
13. @ 3 BIBI full time job is isolating Israel
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (01.18.13)
Tough love must be hurting the Israeli's feelings. 90 plus countries voted for a Palestinian state. How long can the US continue to piss in the wind? If you count a hundred countries around the world the US and maybe 2 others support Israel. I support Israel 100 percent, however some of it's policies are self defeating. Bibi needs to really think about geopolitics just as much as he thinks about local politics. The tide is turning and it is not in our favor.
14. That is what really pisses Obama off
Voter   (01.18.13)
Netanyahu could beat Obama in US elections. He certainly could help the american economy more. The american public like him more, and congress respects him more. That is what really pisses Obama off.
15. obama and nethanjahu
rm ,   Amsterdam NL   (01.18.13)
Obama merely gave Nethanjahu a bit of his own medicin....Yes it's rich these accusations from a country that likes nothing better than meddling in other country's and people's affairs...Nethanjahu himself clearly and openly supporting Mitt Romney..... But than Obama does the same and the whole of Israel is angry? Phu-lease
16. "The tide is turning and it is not in our favor." NO!
trump   (01.18.13)
because -New gaz supplies off shore will bolster our standing with Russia and China -China is developping our railways in the Negev and their investements here will increase -We will increase our cooperation with India -USA will fall into deep recession and harmful gestures from obama will fizzle. -Jewish demographics is up ans arab one is down.
17. American votes
David ,   San Francisco   (01.18.13)
Americans voted for Obama is smaller numbers because FEWER AMERICANS VOTED IN THE LAST US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. Obama decidedly won the American vote in both the popular vote and electoral vote. And Obama only stated what the vast majority of the Western world already knows- that Israel does not want peace and is a horrible ally to any nation. Obama saved Israel's butt at the UN time after time, just to be snubbed by Netenyahu. Well now the gloves are off and its doubtful the US will use its veto to protect Israel anymore. If it were up to me, and most Westerners, sanctions would be placed on Israel!
18. #16 vastly misunderstands China
spyguy ,   seattle, usa   (01.18.13)
China ONLY does what is best for China, but China will help delusional countries be exploited by China for China's benefit. China will bleed Israel dry of any resources it can and then throw Israel away like a used tissue. Also China does not consider Israel to be of any value and will not protect it one bit. BTW - the gas supplies off the Israel coast are miniscule in the grand scheme of things - read the GOI reports on what is actually there and how long it will last. Israel will have to use most of the gas and will have minimal to sell on the world market. Do the math and look at China's 5000 year history before you see China as a "friend."
19. Too true.
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.18.13)
Perhaps Obama couldn't resist revenging himself on Netanyahu's remarks re Obama during his election campaign...
20. If the Right will continue to dominate, US will clear of IL.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.18.13)
There is absolutely nothing unanticipated in what the US administration does. Very clever people are advising Obama and everything is premeditated. You never know into which trap Israel is falling.
21. #17 Mind your own business
Menachem ,   Israel   (01.18.13)
Israel doesn't want peace? Don't make me laugh with this crap LIE which belongs in the dustbin together with Hitler's Mein Kampf. Sanctions on Israel? Why? Because Israel has the nerve of refusing to be destroyed by its Islamo-fascist enemies? Thankfully Israel is strong and has many genuine friends in the US. Read my lips: Israel will not only survive but will thrive as the eternal homeland of the Jewish people.
22. Zecharia no 2
JUDAH THE LION ,   JEWS FIGHT LIKE LION   (01.18.13)
Obama no naive at all. He is very shrewd and snake. He can calculate without use of add up machine. 6 or 7 million Palestinians returning back to Israel Plus 2 million Arabs now living in Israel equal to 8 to 9 million Arabs against 6 million Jews. Majority rule. Next Israeli PM will be Mahmood Abbass.
23. 17
zionist forever   (01.18.13)
In Obamas words YES WE CAN ..... tell him to go to hell. Being US president sadly gives him alot of influence in Israel but NO HE CANT tell us how to vote.
24. i hope its a land slide
JL   (01.18.13)
for the right wing..we here in israel will thank the spineless pathetic obama
25. obama will help Bibi to win THANK YOU!!!
bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (01.18.13)
obama should learn to make friends at home with the Republicans. His 'my way or the highway' is a disaster for America. LEAVE ISRAEL ALONE!!! BUILD BABY BUILD !!!!
26. his second call should be to
Likudnik   (01.18.13)
the writer of this manipulatative stuff. If Bennet promisses to merge into Likud after the elections like Lieberman did before the elections, he will get my vote. If not, Ill vote strong and safe - Likud
27. You really make me laugh, David of SF.
United   (01.18.13)
With friends like you who the hell needs enemies? As a matter of fact, Israel has been one of the staunchest allies of the United States throughout modern history. True, America is also backing Israel in so many ways, but we cannot take every piece of criticism from people who genuinely misunderstand Israel. Especially from people who deliberately misunderstand Israel, let alone from those who are prone against the very existence of Israel. Sitting-room politicians like you, expressing pseudo-ideas from the comfort of your lodging, are not to be taken seriously, mostly not to be trusted at all. So, keep on dreaming whilst Israel keeps on developing for all her population, including Arabs and Christians. With all this criticism around, I really come to the only conclusion - unite as a very strong nation under an extremely resolute leader !
28. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.18.13)
Israel a terrible ally? Remember the Gulf War in 1991? What kind of a war do you think the United States would have been facing had not Israel had the foresight to destroy the Osirac reactor in Baghdad? How many Americans did NOT come home in body bags, thanks to Israel? Over American objections, in 2007 Israel destroyed the North Korean-built nuclear reactor in Syria. Can you just imagine what might be happening now if Syria had nuclear weapons? For that matter, Israel warned the United States that Saddam Hussein was sending his weapons of mass destruction -- massive quantities of neurological, biological and chemical agents -- over the border to Syria. Israel offered to step in, and the United States said "no, thanks." Bet you wish you'd taken us up on the offer now, huh? The Syrians will never target Israel -- they'd be completely and utterly destroyed in a New York minute if they so much as try, and both the rebels and the Syrian government know it. The United States, though -- well that's another story. All those Americans at NATO bases in neighboring Turkey. Wow. There's good cause for concern. The United States couldn't handle Iraq, cannot handle Afghanistan and made a royal mess of things in Waziristan, Yemen and Libya. The United States -- under Obama's administration -- now has to contend with Islamist elements ruling Tunisia and Egypt which are very hostile to the United States. Besides, everyone remembers what happened to the full faith and credit of the United States armed forces in Somalia. Any loose talk about "saving Israel's butt at the UN" is absurd, anyway. Only Security Council resolutions passed under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter are binding and unenforceable, and in the rare possibility that such a resolution passes absent a United States veto, Israel will simply withdraw its membership in the United Nations. The United Nations is a joke these days, anyway. What will the United States do? Attack Israel? You couldn't defeat a bunch of tiny pajama-wearing untrained rebels in Vietnam and you were humiliated in Somalia. Israel is neither Vietnam nor Somalia. Moreover, I remind you that it was Israel that gave the United States its first look at both an intact MiG-21 and an intact MiG-23 and its first look at an intact T-72 -- at the height of the Cold War when the T-72 was the mainstay Soviet battle tank and there was nothing in the NATO arsenal that could pierce the skin of the T-72. Finally, I remind you that in 1967, when it became clear that Israel was going to enjoy an enormous victory over three Arab states, the United States sent a signals interceptor vessel, the USS LIBERTY into the waters off the coast of Israel. Its orders were to monitor Israeli military communications, and to immediately relay the content of those communications to the Syrian and Jordanian military high commands. So much for the loyalty of the U.S. "ally." And THAT, by the way, is why Israel blew the USS LIBERTY out of the water. Don't think it cannot -- or would not -- happen again.
29.  Obama ostensibly wants to weaken Netanyahu,
split ,   US   (01.18.13)
Why would he want to do that? Maybe he wants him to win then he'll guide you closer to your cliff by proxy, using Bibi - When did you read last time what the Europeans think of Bibi as your choice? Try this one, google "Netanyahu Veers Right on Path to Nowhere" great article @ Spiegel ,...
30. I for one considered voting Yesh Atid, but Obama changed my
Jeff Segalovitz ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.18.13)
mind. I shall vote this year for Likud-Beitenu. The citizens of Israel will determine who will and who will not lead us, not a temporary president of the United States of America or any other political figure from abroad.
