1. The U.N. forgot to include Chinese lightbulbs that
Rivkah   (02.02.13)
contain mercury and should be banned by all nations before they pollute the waters from dumpsites. They are a hazardous waste product and the nations of the Earth should go back to Edison incandescent light bulbs which are much safer. LED lights give off phenol gas which is carcinogenic and should be banned, too. The US needs to reopen the incandescent light bulb factories. Texas kept theirs open but cannot ship them to other States. Long live the Free State of Texas. May Senator Ted Cruz be a US President or Vice President with Senator Rand Paul as a running mate.
2. Did they ban the CFL power-saving lightbulbs?

Because those bulbs are going to be the largest source of mercury contamination in the years to come. I love how little power they use, but the idea of trading carbon emissions for mercury contamination is insane. And the idea that most people will properly recycle / dispose of CFL bulbs is ludicrous.
3. Mercury

One of the biggest sources of mercury in the environment is fluorescent lights, both the curly CFL types and the long tubes. They all contain mercury. How many of those are properly disposed of rather than simply thrown in the trash or a dumpster where they end up, broken, in a land fill?
