1. This party came from nowhere...
Jules   (01.22.13)
.... and will disappear into the blue on the next elections.
2. A promise of free bread and gladiator fights...
Daniel ,   JM   (01.22.13)
...wins hearts and minds of hoi polloi every time. I am thoroughly disappointed that a mix of promised money for nothing and sex appeal has won. I thought of israeli public as slightly more mature.
3. YESH!
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.22.13)
I voted for you Yesh Atid. Now it is up to you to prove your ability to actually accomplish something!
4.  Elections 2013
yossi ,   norway   (01.23.13)
MAZEL TOV to Yair Lapid YESH ATID Netanyahu,s first shoise
5. Watch Yesh Atid's magic disappearing act after next election
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.23.13)
If Yesh Atid was a stock, I'd sell a whole lot of it short and make a fortune from it. Yesh Atid is highly overvalued. It has no real ideology. It is based entirely on Yair Lapid's personal popularity. Yesh Atid is the new Shinnui. After the next election; watch it's magic disappearing act.
6. Yair Lapid
Jayjay ,   Israel   (01.23.13)
What qualifications does he have to become a politician???? Good looks, a famous father and a TV show??? I dins it amazing that people believe this guy cares about them, after he was making over 140 thousand shekels a month as a TV presenter. Disgusting!
7. Remember "Frozen Yoghurt"-craze? It is sad though, since it
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.23.13)
shows how shallow, naive and gullible the average Joe/Moyshe is! I shall continue not to watch the news or political programs on TV just to avoid having to watch Mr.Yair L. If ever, the cynical saying "we have to change the population" was right, it is now! It was Israel's maybe last chance to make a clear decision, instead we've got a Robin Hood....
8. So, Robin Hood says, that opening a restaurant that proudly
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.23.13)
serves Sushi AND Gefilte Fish is a sure recipe for success?! Really????? Design by committee clearly is not a way to produce a good product, not even in politics.
9. to no5 if he is intelligent he can make a coalition with BiB
(01.23.13)
and Bait Ha yehudi and send Shas paking
10. #5 Chaim
Michael ,   Haifa   (01.23.13)
For once, I agree with you. Lapid and his party will be a "one night stand". The fringe benefit is that Netanyahu and his party will also be sluiced out in the same flush.
11. Congrats! People want Change
Ted   (01.23.13)
It is an indication that the people are tired of the status duo and inaction of current government - and they want to give Lapid and his team a chance, to bring freshness to the sickened old politics in this country. It is an indication that the middle class wants a voice in the government.
12. Clear evidence of Israel's flawed electoral system
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.23.13)
Israelis don't elect individuals who can be held to account, but only for parties. Those parties are characterized by the person at the top, and the extent of that person's "coat-tails" determines how many on the party list get a seat. But seriously, how many of Atid's 19 or so winners from the party list are even known to the electorate? The flip side also holds true. Once one is part of a "list", your fate is tied to that of the person at the top, so if he or she screws up, or they're subject to public attack, those lower down the list pay the price. It also means that those in "safe slots" can get away with almost everything. So not only can people not individually be held accountable, they can't advance based on their own individual merit.
13. #2 What's wrong with sex appeal?
Geepee ,   Tel Aviv   (01.23.13)
Maybe we're sick and tired of seeing the appallingly fat and unhealthy hogs fattening themselves on our money while telling us to tighten our belts. Good looking, physically fit and, so far, with more principles in his little finger than ALL the rest - yeah, we'll have a little of that for a change.
14. Historic opportunity : end the haredi blackmail
Raphael ,   Raanana   (01.23.13)
Bibi 31+ Lapid 19 + Bennett 11 = 61 : enought to end the haredi blackmail.
15. Yesh Atid is Right of Center
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.23.13)
Yesh Atid has near identical values of Likud. Yesh Atid supports a two State solution and publicly so does Bibi, Yesh Atid does not believe in dividing Jerusalem, same with Likud, Yesh Atid does not allow "Right of Return" for Arab settlers, Same with Likud, Yesh Atid believes in maintaining blocs of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, and so does Likud, Likud believes Haredim should serve in the Army, so does Likud. Yesh Atid supports a strong middle class, and so does Likud. So what you have is a party like Likud, but without the Hardliners, sort of what Kadima was under Sharon. Yesh Atid is a natural partner of Likud.
16. Amen to that Tom! end
Bartley Kulp ,   Haifa   (01.23.13)
17. Yesh Atid
yoel ,   Israel   (01.23.13)
Mr. Lapid- You have finally broken the camels back and are in a position to do what you promised- I wish you "Mazal Tov" we are all behind you
18. WELL DONE YAIR!!
Talula ,   Israel   (01.23.13)
I voted for him - he's young fresh and has an inherent need to change the way our country works. I say all the best to him - I know he won't let us down.
19. The political imaturity of the Israeli electorate is
Al   (01.23.13)
indeed breathless. Tribal parochial and stagnant in its quest for nothingness. Incredible.. Follow the money this horse was heavily financed by American (WH) money. Yesh Atid...The Jerry Seinfeld of Israeli politics. ALL ABOUT NOTHING.
20. #13 Damn right! well said
Talula ,   Israel   (01.23.13)
The man is sure handsome and a giant dose of eye candy for the women. Yair Lapid is also a smart well educated man who I'm sure will take our country forward, instead of watching it slip back to the stone age. I'm so happy for him!!!!
21. the future of Yesh Atid
YaĆ«l Feld ,   Paris France   (01.23.13)
Lapid has no real interest if he wants a long-term political career to take part in a coalition with Shaas , habayit hayehudi or other religious party. The best solution is a coalition of all the seculars.
22. Hmmm, lots of Haredis wailing over end of Jewish Inquisition
Israeili Jew ,   Israel   (01.23.13)
Maybe 14 Raphael is right and the Jewish Inquisition is over.
