US: Two-state solution cannot wait    Yitzhak Benhorin
1. Well Let's See If I Have This Correct?
Bibi and his Coalition must resume peace talks? When Bibi Has ALL his ducks in a row; ILLEGAL nuclear weapons program, syrian GEOCIDE, hamas, fatah, hizbullah, Housing prices, Cost of living, equal burden across Israeli Citizenship for IDF or Civilan Service just to mention a few? So mr b.H.o. please tend to American Threat from n. korea, American Debit, American Middle Class, Gas Prices, Social Security, American Infra-Structure? Bibi has been Around The Block 25 years before you sir. Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu Has The Toughest Job in The WORLD! שבת שלום/ברוך שם הא

2. Can US say that Pal 2 state solution includes Jewish Israel?
The US should get off Israel's back if it can't honestly say that the Palestinian 2 state solution includes a Jewish majority Israel. Jews are more than cynical on this issue. For Palestinians negotiations appear to be nothing more than an opportunity to get free concessions at Israel's expense.
Sam ,   Canada   (01.27.13)
3. the Obama disaster
The re-election of President Obama was a disaster. This issue is a good example. For 65 years the Palestinian Arabs and all their Muslim and Persian cousins have been dedicated to the annihilation of Israel. The Palestinian leaderships have had numerous opportunities to arrange peace and independence for their people. However, with their "holy war" as the foundation of their diplomacy it hasn't happened. Wiht President Obama and the major news outlets spewing propaganda against Israel there isn't much incentive for the Palestinians to stop their self-destructive ways. I'd like to see a public statement from both Palestinian leaderships in English and Arabic and every other Middle-East language declaring their aim to be peaceful co-existence with Israel and the Jews. Until then it's all just a trick to delegitimize Israel. At heart, perhaps Obama is a Muslim.

4. Tell this to Israel's enemies
If it was up to Israel there would have always been peace. All of the hostilities, the entire conflict is sole fault of Israel's enemies who are determined to destroy Israel. The PLO talks a great game, their skill at spreading propaganda and their ability to lie, scheme and trick the world is unparalleled in history. Israel's conditions for peace are clear, but the PLO refuses this and insists that ALL of Israel is Islamic land. Jerusalem is not negotiable, right of return is never going to happen, the Jordan valley and ALL of the Jewish communities are to remain as part of Israel and the Palestinian entity is to be demilitarized. E-1 is part of Israel as laid out in previous agreements, Israel is to acknowledged as a Jewish nation and all others claims are to be put to rest permanently. It's so simple, and if the PLO truly wanted peace they would agree to this. Those are the red lines Israel has laid out, the rest are negotiable.
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.27.13)
5. OBAMA"S PROMISES
He has failed to stop Hezbollah and Hamas from rearming. He is given Egypt additional fighter planes and tanks without getting anything in return. His State Department's and defense nominees are congenitally anti-Israel. Only Shimon Peres and the J St. liberal Jewish establishment believe in him. After all, he has stopped the tides from rising

6. TO NR''S 2 AND 4.
THAT IS ALSO MY OPINION. SEEMS VERY REASONABLE TO ME.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (01.27.13)
7. Other Options
An interim two state remedy is the better.A referendum for a divide Jerusalem will not pass except for Islamic Holy Sites or the Holy Basin .the Jordon valley few will give up security control .the settlements ought be consolidated solidly for the Arab triangle . But first and foremost a Nuclear Iran cannot exist .
Zechariah   (01.27.13)
8. Listen up people!! BO can huff and puff and try to pull the
Israeli house down, but he has NO authority here. I don't care how initimate the media is with him.. We have Hashem on our side at that is enoug!!, BO has, well he has no higher power on his side. This is the year that begins a frustrated and hands slapped at every turn for the remaining 1400 or so days for BO. He will end up looking like a bafoon for all the world to see, and will go down in the history books as being WORSE than al-jamal-carter!!!

Will never happen or take place.
ELYGOLDART ,   Minn   (01.27.13)
10. #1 - Excellent. Anyone with eyes open knows there is no
peace partner anywhere in the middle east for Israel to negotiate with. Last source of reliable info or advice is the present U.S. administration. No doubt about whether BHO is a muslim at heart. The indoctrination of children in Islam in Islamic schools in Indonesia is absolute. A ring with There is no god but allah in arabic on the man's finger? There will never be peace with Islam for Israel and there will in all likelihood be nuclear war this year. Win it all or lose it all. The Lord is with you. Win it all.

15. Obama: Slow Learner
There was a reason former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell called Obama a "very slow learner." He has one useful year to get domestic legislation passed to implement the ambitious agenda he has been talking about the past few weeks. Then after that, the 2nd-term midterm elections, which are traditionally bad for presidents. If he gets caught up in a spat with Israel, explaining a 3rd intifada or Israel's strike on Iran's reactors, that sucks all the oxygen out of his domestic agenda and revives the Republican party. Is he that stupid and narcissistic that he thinks he is free from consequences. Yes he is!

16. #1
BHO will solve the Middle East Problem and a Palestinian State will appear and recognized no matter what people against peace say. Never forget BHO received a Nobel Peace Prize.

17. Bible note to Obama-A cup of trembling & a burdensome stone
The Book of Books has already told the end of the story about dividing the land . Zechariah Chapter twelve “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.”
Galut ia ,   Selah   (01.27.13)
18. the little emperor has spoken again
he should first take responsibility for the huge mess he has created in north africa, sub-saharan africa, including lybia, mali, egypt, the sinai. he should solve the problem of radical islam, which will not be solved by pro-islam speeches and appeasement. israel will not commit collective suicide for the sake of the little emperor and his delusions of grandeur.
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (01.27.13)
19. Peace?
Peace is possible only when the two sides desire it. As a short time goal, it is only a build up to a war. However, if both sides genuinely desire peace and a sign of that is their acceptance of the each other, like Mexico and US, then peace can work. But if they are not accepting of each other and of their differences, it will never work. We must see if our Arabs neighbors have reached the level of truly desiring peace. Hence only an open Arab society that is willing to admit Israeli visitors to wander the streets of Ramallah, Shechem and Nabulus can work.

20. The American People in their utter idiocy, must find another
Muslim candidate and again, vote him/her into the White House for this dream of "Palestine" to happen. Mind you: it is not beyond possible.....

23. #4 Chaim - Great Post! Elequent & Accurate
Dear Chaim you put the position and the needs of Israel very clearly, accurately and elequently! I just would like to add the following: 1) The parts not settled by Israelis and not needed for security purposes would be handed over to the Arabs ("Palestinians"). 2) To make it a viable state they can join up with Jordan. They can come to an agreement with them to change the name of the country to Palestine. 3) King Abdullah II can implement a true constitutional Monarchy with free elections. In the interim can appoint Mr Abbas as his prime minister.
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (01.27.13)
24. Ah Lord, it's gonna be a long 4 years
It'll be a running competition between the US & Israel to see who comes out of this Obama repeat more banged up.
Cameron ,   USA   (01.27.13)
25. BIBI MUST STOP CALLING A 3-STATE AS A 2-STATE.
Its poor maths: "It will be a historic compromise to grant two states in Palestine - one for the Jews and one for the Arabs" - Churchill, when the Balfour Mandate was corrupted for 30 barrels of oil.
BUTSeriousy ,   Sydney   (01.27.13)
26. #15 "slow learner" is right
Obama shares responsibility with Abu Mazen for the complete standstill in peace talks -- it was Obama who came up with ridiculous preconditions that Israel should meet *prior* to negotiations (while stating that he, Obama, wanted to negotiate with Iran without any preconditions on Iran). In the end, though, it was only just the excuse Abbas was looking for. When will Obama learn, this is not an issue that is within Israel's control.
mira ,   nyc   (01.27.13)
27. Not possible...
The two-state solution is a UN crafted idea. There is no such concept in any "Palestinian" movement to this day. The Palestinian Authority (not the "State of Palestine") doesn't acknowledge Israel neither does Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Jund Ansar Allah and the list goes on. The two-state solution is a fantasy.
Jacob ,   United States, MN   (01.27.13)
28. Totally right,
two state solution is urgent in France, Holland, England, Italy etc. A state for the tens of millions migrants and a smaller other state for luckless aborogines.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (01.27.13)
29. "negotiations must resume" is a code for
" Israel must give the palestinians more concessions". This has been their plan all along. To keep getting more without giving anything in return. Israel should not pay one more inch just to talk. If they want to talk let them come to the table and start talking.
Zev ,   Israel   (01.27.13)
30. Who cares?
I am so worried about Obama's comments. I will probably need sleeping pills tonight... The US should start behaving properly as from Obama's second term: 1. Spare Israel from comments about useless formulas of peace 2. Consult Israel before troublesome nominations like those for the Defense and State Departaments 3. Reward Israel decently for the good job we have been doing in the region, it means more financial resources and military technology. 4. Ah.. and shut up, please!
