1. They will be the downfall
Sagi   (02.03.13)
of NY just as they will be the downfall of Israel. Regression instead of progression, ignorance in place of knowlege and destruction in place construction. Anti everthing which is regarded as common practice and normal.
2. Just one question???????

I know you don't like Haredim, but you took it one step too far. Your words repeat the thoughts of a famous Austrian artist who wrote a book "My Struggle". You might want to read a copy to see how you and him agree.

Sagi   (02.03.13)
I stand by my words. I am a very realistic and pragmatic person. The two dominant concepts in my life have always been logic and pragmatism. I am unable to envisage any other scenario. It has nothing to do with "like" or "dislike".

boosting the economy of the country they chose to live. They have connections in the whole world and know quickly what to produce ,where to deliver and at what price. It is not for nothing that they get green cards.
8. The Irony is that these people are the most
meir elazar   (02.03.13)
ignorant of Judaism that I have ever encountered. They distort the Torah and refuse to accept the teaching of the Torah as they inject foreign practices based on their "agendas". Many do not have marketable skills and instead seek out sources of income which in many cases are illegal if not immoral. They continue the logic system found in Baba Metzia 59b where Rabbi Yeshua state it is "not in the heavens" and built an argument that dethrones G-d and all but evicts G-d from Judaism enabling Rabbis Carte Blanche. The Rabbis continue to argue and justify immoral actions and exploit the systems of the countries where they live.
9. This is a very good trend.
Reuven   (02.04.13)
We are replenishing our numbers. But we need to bring the satmars into the Zionist camp.
10. What do these areas have in common?
TeaParty   (02.04.13)
Williamsburg, Borough Park, New Square and Kiryat Joel etc? Google Avraham Baror and Rivka Baror to find out. It's the primary reason they are in NY instead of Israel.
11. So What? Muslims in NY are up about 150% since 2000

13. #1 You are no less bigot than Naturei Karta
Menachem ,   Israel   (02.04.13)
Don't demonize the majority of decent and yes pro-Israel Orthodox Jews for the actions of a small extremist minority. Haredi Jews are going through a silent but fast socio-economic transformation in Israel and are gradually integrating into Israeli society, economy and yes IDF. The unity of Israel will prevail over the extremist hatred spread by bigots like you.

which do not know where to look is disgusting. Who has ever heard of a genuine Rabbi who evicts G-D from Judaism?

AY ,   USA   (02.04.13)
The thing is that many of the Orthodox in NYC are getting the taste of the non-Orthodox and non-Jewish world. The second Haskalah is already taking place.
16.  1 Einstein s Quote for you,Sagi.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.04.13)
"It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity." Thus Tora studies ,which include humane relations ,are not a luxury .

Christians read a translation of the Torah/Tanakh which is like looking at a black and white photocopy of a Rembrandt. The colors are gone. The texture and tones have vanished. My point is not to study a rabbinic perspective photocopy of the Torah/Tanakh but to master Hebrew so one can study the Torah/Tanakh directly and personally. Challenge and do not blindly swallow the rabbinic or anyone's point of view. There were brilliant rabbis and not so brilliant rabbis. One may cautiously listen to them and others but the ultimate connection and identification with the Torah/Tanakh must be personal.

They are Orthodox Jews. Highly observant, according to the rules in the talmud (behavioral rules interpreted from the bible)applied to everyday issues. Anti semites like to called them fundamentalists to equate them to other criminal religeous movements, but it is simply a lie. They are religous Jews closer to the Bible in their rules and behavior than other Jews or Gentiles. Mainly thanks to them the Jewish people have a living Torah, and survived the onslought of the Romans, the barbarians, the inquisition, the medieval crimes against the Jews, the nazis, the communists and Jews still live and are a vibrant people . AM ISRAEL JAI.

the Gemara in depth,i don t think it is possible without the help of an orthodox Yeshiva student. You get a completely wrong image and that explains the post you wrote. And me, to judge you by your comment ,without knowing you, was so very wrong. Please excuse me.
23. #22 Ora - I sat next to an 18 yo Satmar kid
meir elazar   (02.05.13)
who changed seat on the plane because he wouldn't sit next to a woman. As I spoke with him I quickly realized the his knowledge of Hebrew, Aramaic grammar, Torah/Tanakh and Jewish history was pathetic. Your Yeshiva student is taught to parrot the official party line but not to think as was the original intention. Secondly the Torah is the Ikar (the essential) and the Talmud is at best secondary. Torah ALWAYS trumps Mishnah and Gemarah.
