31. #17 - but the UNSC cannot do that...
William ,   Israel   (01.31.13)
The UN charter forbids a violation of State sovereignty and the majority of those who supported the UNGA bid by Abbas declared the only way forward for a State is direct negotiations with Israel. UNR242 pointed that out directly even though they didn't mention "Palestinians" by name, but rather Jordan, on purpose.
32. to 14
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (01.31.13)
If we want to survive as a Jewish Nation and have a Homeland to Ourselves, we need many more relatives of Kahane, Harold...You better believe it...

Jennie ,   Israel/Us   (01.31.13)
You seem to be desporately creative in your pathetic attempts to smear Israel...
34. "According to intl law, a resolution is a legally binding"
William ,   Israel   (01.31.13)
I think he needs to do more homework here. The UN charter does not provide the UNGA the write to create intl law and their resolutions, by that very charter, are non-binding. Only the UNSC rulings are legally binding.
35. To N 10
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.01.13)
Mr. Benassi, Israel can not be called a "pariah State". She has been a Democracy since her creation, despite of several military aggressions from the "neighborhood". Peace depends on the both sides, but Arab Palestines have rejected it, claiming erred rights of return. Remember Rabin and Olmert's proposals, offering them almost all "West Bank". Think more about it.
36. To 23, Solomon
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.01.13)
My brother, I agree with you. Peace depends on both sides, and Palestinian leaders, even the moderates, have not acted for it. I don't consider Hamas, Hezbollah or other terroristic entities. I only comment about Fatah. If they talk seriously, with good faith, I am sure Israel will accept a honoured agreement. I hope it occurs some day.
37. #1. Real point is Judea/Samaria belong to Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.01.13)
#1. You are correct that the P.A. couldn't manage a garage sale, let alone a state. But the fact that the P.A. are terrorists and incompetents is a secondary issue. The real issue is that Judea and Samaria belong to Israel 100%. Period.
38. The PLO is never held accountable
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (02.01.13)
We have seen the worth of signing a accord with the PLO. It brought us the terror wave called the second Intifada. We also saw what happens when Israel withdraws from territory, it brought us increased terrorism from Hizbollah and Hamas. We know from history that the world does not care what happens to Jews and we know that only ourselves can be depended upon to protect ourselves. We must act accordingly. Any time we Jews question OSLO and PLO Intentions we are accused of being Nazis. No more "land for peace", only "Peace for peace" is meaningful.
39. #27 - 31, 34 william - excellent posts...
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.01.13)
as is your usual.
40. #36 luiz
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.01.13)
One "minor problem"; Fatah has the same goals as Hamas and Hezbollah. They are just trying to go about it differently, but get the same result. This is exemplified by their insistence on "the right of return", but at the same time, that any nation they have will be free of Jews.
41. #31, 34
Miriam ,   Jerusalem   (02.01.13)
Only UNSC resolutions under Chapter VII are binding. All those concerning Israel are under Chapter VI and therefore NON-binding.
42. From an American...
Luke ,   Australia   (02.01.13)
And your country currently has how much debt?
43. The idea that
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (02.01.13)
The PA can miraculously create a State in the West Bank in isolation and in a permanent state of confrontation with Israel is cuckoo The best economic minds tell us that our future prosperity statehood AND SECURITY in these turbulent times is predicated on close cooperation with Israel and all our immediate neighbours We have to bite the bullit and take the initiative. Start direct talks without preconditions and everything else will follow..because talks WILL happen sooner or later..and it might as well be sooner Settlements in some respects are a side show...We fall into Netanyahus trap to cease talks everytime he announces more Settlements! But nothing is written in stone. Even an INTERIM Agreement or a STAGED Agreement is better than NO Agreement at all Remember we cant remain in perpetual confronation and hatred of Israel AND build a new State. So lets start building now!
44. #43. Israel would lose EVERYTHING in deal with P.A.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.01.13)
#43 Sammy. What could Israel possibly gain from an agreement with the P.A.? What would Israel lose? * Jerusalem *Judea *Samaria *Freedom from constant rocket attacks on ALL our cities and towns. *Defensible borders. Israel's waist would be trimmed to a suicidal 9 miles. *In short, Israel would lose EVERYTHING. This tiny land is ours. "Palestinians" are poseurs. Pay them to leave our land.
45. US law specifically requires the President to veto
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.01.13)
us law specifically requires the president to veto all one sided anti-israel resolutions in the security council. the arab palestinians will never get a state without negotiations with the sovereign state of israel.
46. P.A. is a scarecrow dependent on Israeli support..
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.03.13)
The P.A. is a scarecrow dependent on Israeli support. It is a symbol of the lunatic Israeli policy of supporting our genocidal foes. Even with massive Israeli support, Fictional Palestine can't pay its bills. Take away Israeli support and Fictional Palestine would quickly become an absolute hellhole with "Palestinians" begging to leave. Israel's problems with "Palestinian" poseurs would end forever. So let's do it. End ALL Israeli support for Fictional Palestine IMMEDIATELY!
47. Propaganda
Moshe ,   Paris   (02.03.13)
Excellent, what's the secret? The Israeli Press left wing is controlled by Arab and Jewish American Progressives.Great Strategy, too bad it's jut not going to happen. USA will obliterate Iran.
48. #45 cipora
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.03.13)
US law? Which US law? Never heard of one such as you mention. Please elaborate. Thank you.
49. 48 solomon
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.03.13)
us-israel enhanced security cooperation act 2012. it was passed with near unaniminity in congress. you should read the entire text of the legislation. it is very short but very useful.
50. #49 cipora
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.03.13)
Thank you for the reference. I remembered it somewhere in the back of my mind, but didn't remember the details. I read it, and I must disagree with your statement. The phrase "To veto any one-sided anti-Israel resolutions at the United Nations Security Council" is under the section "Stating US Policy." This is policy (not law) something that changes with time and inclination. It is a ‘sense of Congress” (ie their opinion), but the President sets policy. It is pertinent to the issue that this statement was not in the next section, stating actions the US should take. And if you look up the US' record in the UN, this policy has not been 100% consistent.
