UN panel concludes Israeli settlements are illegal    News agencies
1. What is contiguous about any proposed Palestinian State?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (01.31.13)
2. It won't stop one house from being built
The West Bank is part of the Jewish biblical homeland and Jews will build there until there is a peace agreement. The Palestinians want the whole area Muslim controlled. That is why they don't make peace. To say that religion plays no role in the conflict as the secular prefer is laughable. There is no easy way out for the Palestinians. Either they make peace or they will have the political status quo with Jews building around them.

3. Settlements are Legal
Settlements are legal Eugene W. Rostow assistant secretary of state for the United States in 1967 who wrote UN resolution 242 wrote in several articles in 1991 that resolution 242 never meant for Israel to go back to the 67 borders. He also wrote that settlements were legal in the West Bank based on the fact that the British mandate in 1922 could not be rescinded. There is nothing in his writings in any agreements that say Israel had to go back to 67, and nothing was ever mentioned about land swaps.Read also what the other authors wrote about Resolution 242 in the January 15 2007 article in Camera titled. "Security Council Resolution 242 According to its Drafters" Lord Caradon: Quotes Res 242 "Much play has been made of the fact that we didn't say "the" territories or "all the" territories. But that was deliberate. I myself knew very well the 1967 boundaries and if we had put in the "the" or "all the" that could only have meant that we wished to see the 1967 boundaries perpetuated in the form of a permanent frontier. This I was certainly not prepared to recommend." "We could have said: well, you go back to the 1967 line. But I know the 1967 line, and it's a rotten line" "Had we said that you must go back to the 1967 line, which would have resulted if we had specified a retreat from all the occupied territories, we would have been wrong." Also view the Canadian International law expert Jacques Gauthier who have several lectures on YouTube supporting Israel claims.

4. Annex Area C
Israel should annex Area C and Low populated areas of Area B. What's going to happen if Israel the lefts backing goes back to the 67 borders and you have 7 million Palis by the right of return within walking distance of Tel Aviv? How long will Israel remain a Jewish State then.
Bill Stein ,   USA   (01.31.13)
5. No need for creeping annexation
In the Youtube video DFM Danny Ayalon makes the legal case regarding status of Yehuda and Shomron. Good video by the way. No Palestinians existed 1967. Yehuda and Shomron belongs to Israel.
Norbus ,   jERUSALEM   (01.31.13)
6. When there's nothing else, blame Jews for building homes
Oh thank goodness! The UN have arrived on the scene to take charge in the midst of the slaughter in Syria, the brutal Islamic oppressions as a result of the failed uprising in Egypt, the terrorist attacks in Mali, the stifling of human rights and freedoms in Saudi Arabia, the Iranian nuclear program, the North Korean nuclear program etc! Nope! Actually, they scheduled some time aside from all of those trifling details to...condemn Jews for building homes for themselves! Thanks UN, you've helped a lot. I'm sure your old pal, vehement Holocaust denier, funder of the Munich Massacre and propogator of the "palestinian people" lie. Mahmoud Abbas (you may know him under his terrorist name, Abu Mazen) will be delighted with this news. Sadly, this does little to detract from the greater issues he faces; 1. His people, fed up with being forced to live in squalor to pin the blame on Israel, are a touch miffed he is a billionaire who owns swathes of "retirement" land in Jordan. 2. Jews continue to live in Judea and Samarai. It's bad enough they continue to live, but that's just crazy! Worse still, they are THRIVING. With 600,000 strong and a swarming birth rate, it's already too late. 3. His willingness to break the ill-concieved Oslo Accords have only helped those he wanted to spite and further hastened his downfall.

7. ARAB VIOLATIONS OF FORTH GENEVA CONVENTION
Art. 3. In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each Party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions: (1) Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria. To this end the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons: (a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture; (b) taking of hostages; (c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment; (d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.

8. PA American European Crimes
If the PA or any other country of the world trys to bring Israel to trial at the ICC then its Time to bring the PA British French Anericans and Arab governments to the ICC. The French for arming and training the rewandan Hutus who massacred the Tutsis in 1994. The PA in their role in terrorism against civilian targets and expelling Jews from homes in 48 Mahmood Abbas for his roll in the Munich Massacre. The British for thier roll of supporting the Arabs in ww2 in which they refused to allow Jewish refugees to escape death in Europe this makes them a participant in the Holocaust. Also the British financially supporting NGOs that fund terrorism against Israeli citizens. I could name more but the list is countless.

Once again the right-wing hold the entire country to ransome. The far right religious extremist are killing this country.

11. Withdraw From the UN
Israel must withdraw from the joke of United Nations against the Jewish People. Amen!

12. TO THE ISRAELI LEADERSHIP !!!
When are your finally going to refute the accusation that Israel contravenes the 1949 Geneva Convention ? Article 2 of the convention provides that the agreement applies "to all cases of partial or total occupation of the territory of a high contracting party". Thus, the convention cannot apply to the West Bank or East Jerusalem, they were never recognized as territories of Jordan or any other country, but as a residual part of the PALESTINE MANDATE, and therefore subject to the rights of the JEWISH PEOPLE, to make "close settlement" on the land. This is valid in International Law to this day, and reaffirmed by the UNITED NATIONS trough Article 80 of its Charter. Even UNSC Resolution 242, written by Prof. E. Rostow, is based on the Palestine Mandate. The French Judge Christine Chanet is at least ignorant and should review the legal aspects of this matter. But is is high time for the Israeli leadership to take action !!!

13. Politically motivated U.N. rubbish. End support of U.N.
This latest U.N. decision has no more validity that it's equation of Zionism with racism. Countless world leading international law experts have incontrovertibly proven Judea and Samaria legally belong to Israel. Including Eugene Rostow, who largely created U.N. Resolution 242. This is yet more politically motivated U.N. rubbish. All support for the U.N. should be immediately ended.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.31.13)
14. South Africa was sooo self righteous too before sanctions
Stealing land, burning crops uprooting trees burning mosques and hate grafitti on churches are legal? Only on the West Bank.
miki ,   tampa   (01.31.13)
15. #10 Haim. Leave it to you to side with Israel's enemies.
#10. Leave it to you to side with Israel's enemies once again. Would you also have agreed with the U.N. that Zionism is racism? Judea and Samaria not only belong to Israel legally. They are vital to Israel's survival. Any child, capable of reading a map, can see that. It is lunatic leftists like yourself who endanger Israel. Leftist Oslo alone cost Israel thousands of maimed and murdered civilians.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.31.13)
16. #12 Correct. Why does Israeli govt. let these lies go on?
Nothing could be easier than for the Israeli government to serve the U.N., E.U., all world governments, media and religious organizations with absolute legal proof Judea and Samaria belong to Israel. This should have been done decades ago. Why does the Israeli government allow our enemies to get away with these evil lies? Proving Judea and Samaria belong to Israel would strengthen Israel's position greatly, encourage our friends and expose our enemies as the vile racists they are.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.31.13)
17. Settlements are Legal
In addition to Bill's excellent comments Jordan relinquished their claim to the West Bank leaving Israel as the only sovereign nation with any claim. Legally if the Palestinians want to negotiate for some of that territory they have to do that based on a position of a moral obligation by Israel and not by a legal one.
Lee ,   Leeds   (01.31.13)
18. The Golden Mean
This report is largely irrelevant. The truth of the matter is that Judea and Samaria/The West Bank will be shared. The Jews will not kick all the Palestinians out and the Palestinians will not kick all the Jews out. I'm not sure how many UN people have heard of the principle of "The Golden Mean" as enunciated by Maimonides. The economy of the Holy Land and Middle East will boom if the right paradigm prevails. Organisations, nations and kingdoms without the right philosophy always fail. Take note United Nations...

19. #14 miki mouse
Of course it's all legal when the Arabs burn synagogues, Churches with people stil inside of them & destroy Jewish Cemeteries ?

20. UN
What Israel does with their land is no buisness of the UN or anyone else. The UN is an atrocity that violates Israel.

21. Purely anti-Israel - Anti-Semitic report
Since 1967 the standard of living of the Arabs in Judea and Samaria has risen far above what it was before and what it still is in most Arab countries. They have electricity in their homes running water and medical care just to name a few things that have changed. Jerusalem and Hebron have mixed polulations and so would the other Arab cities such as Shechem and Jenin and Ramalah if the Arabs and Israeli government would allow it. If there is segragation it is because the Arabs want the area to be free of Jews. Before the terror attacks the roads were without roadblocks and the Arabs worked throughout Israel and were able to move freely. We have Oslo to thank when Bailin and Peris brought Arafat and his henchmen here.

23. @10 - after elections we can say the Majority
are holding the country to ransom. Remember that while some of the some of the so-called "Left wing" parties want us to talk peace, they are not saying give away everything. Yesh Atid is against dividing Jerusalem among other things. You really dont like democracy when it works against you. Go live in Gaza where they have "read democracy".
Jrebecca ,   modiin   (01.31.13)
24. Segregation
Jewish presence leads to segregation. Get rid of the Jews and there is no segregation. Problem solved, human rights restored, everybody is happy. Haven't we heard this before?
Shaul R   (01.31.13)
25. According to this fact finding mission
Only Jews in settlements is segregation, but only Arabs in West Bank is not segregation.

26. Palestinian terrorism seems to be omitted by the U.N
A New Shoah: The Untold Story of Israel's Victims of Terrorism Giulio Meotti Every day in Israel, memorials are held for people killed simply because they were Jews--condemned by the fury of Islamic fundamentalism. A New Shoah is the first book devoted to telling the story of these Israeli terror victims. It centers on a previously unheard oral history of the Middle Eastern conflict from the viewpoint of the Jewish victims and their families. Ten years ago, Palestinian terrorist groups launched their Second Intifada, resulting in an Israeli "Ground Zero" with 1,500 civilian victims. Israel is a tiny country, and this number would be proportionally equivalent to about 54,000 terror victims in the United States. The hundreds of attacks in Israel, day after day, amount to a sort of "new Shoah," as Roger Scruton explains in his foreword. Giulio Meotti spoke to many of the Israeli families that have been destroyed by terror attacks on all the ordinary places of everyday life: on buses, kibbutzim, religious places, cafés and restaurants. Many of the survivors told their heartbreaking stories of loss for the first time. In these human fragments lie the raison d'être for the State of Israel, the first country in the world to experience suicide bombings on a massive scale, the fruit of jihadi nihilism.

27. Jews cant live in the Arab countries and the U.N says nothin
There are 8500 Jews living in the entire Arab world, while their are 1.6 million Palestinians in Israel. Jews are barred from living in every Arab country, except a few thousand Jews who live in Morocco and Tunisia. Jews want to leaving Tunisia with an Islamist government in power. I should remind people, two of the top Tunisian clerics 2 months ago called Jews Apes and for their mass killing. Dont worry people, the U.N wont say anything? Look at this video on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4P-GuFTJ0c Dec 6, 2012 Tunisian Cleric Al-Suhayli Calls the Jews Apes, Prays for Allah to Annihilate Them
Mark Rosen   (01.31.13)
28. Using their own words
"The panel's report to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva – the UN's first report on the subject as a whole – says the settlements exist for the exclusive benefit of Israeli Jews, creating a system of total segregation." There are 56 Muslim countries that do not allow the immigration of non-Muslims making them apartheid nations. So why is that minor fact ignored? Nor are Arabs excluded from building in Judea and Samaria - the areas occupied by the PA are totally ethnically cleansed of all Jews aren't mentioned either.
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.31.13)
29. segregation?
What about sending a 'fact finding mission to Mecca and the whole of Saudi Arabia? What about a 'fact finding mission to Gaza and/or other Muslim countries and check how many Jews & christians are living or being welcomed there? What about a 'fact finding mission into many European cities where Jews are slowly purged out and where the original inhabitants are slowly being made strangers in their own cities and neighborhoods. The 'fact finding mission of the HRC should start mentioning some facts of total abuse & segregation in the world, instead of blindly focusing on Israel!

30. Bibi has the proof that we are not "occupiers" in his desk!!
draw but to date he refuses to present it to the world in ENGLISH. What's taking you so long Bibi? Do you not understand that by your silence YOU are creating this problem? Stop the liars and anti-Semites in their tracks. Translate the Levy Report and give it to the UN and Obama.
